Shadow has a problem.
Actually, a crisis.
He has recently discovered his crush, how humiliating, on his annoying, ridiculous, attractive rival.
Rouge won’t leave him alone about it either.
The only reason she knows is because she somehow managed to weasel it out of him.

“So, Shadow, hun, is there something you want to tell me..?” Rouge questioned, with a sly smirk plastered on her face.
“What are you talking about.” grumbled Shadow. It’s always something with this woman it seems.
“Oh, I think you know sweetheart. Big blue…whats up-”
Before she could even finish her interrogation, Shadow abruptly shut his book and stood up, already trying to escape this situation.
Rouge stood up as well, grabbing Shadow’s arm with surprising strength, pulling him back down on the couch.
”Rouge, I don’t want to talk about this.”
”Too bad. I NEED to know why you are constantly giving Big Blue goo goo eyes.”
Shadow groaned, not only in embarrassment but also in annoyance. As much as he loves Rouge, she really is his 13th reason.
”I don’t know what you-”
”Oh cut the shit, Shadow. You obviously like him, just admit it! I already know!”
Shadow sat in silence, fidgeting with the book cover from the book he WAS reading before he was rudely interrupted.
”Shadow..?”
Shadow sighs.
”I..I guess I may have…caught..feelings.”
Her reaction was immediate.
A loud squeal filled the room. Rouge jumped up and down as she exclaimed,
”I knew it, I knew it!!”
While Rouge was going insane over his confession, Shadow sat there with a faint smile on his face.

Okay, maybe it wasn’t that hard to do, but still!
Shadow doesn’t need anyone else knowing anyhow.
He currently sat in his room at his desk, going through the summary of his most recent G.U.N mission. It had been particularly nasty, but nothing the Ultimate Lifeform couldn’t handle.
Buzz, Buzz.
Shadow paused, glancing at his phone.
On the screen, a little notification appeared with Sonics contact on it.

Shadow picked up his phone and smiled as he looked at his lock screen for the 100th time today.
It was a picture of him and Sonic, sitting under a tree together. Sonic had taken it, obviously, seeing as it was a bit blurry and how Shadow attempted to cover his own face.
Shadow loved it.
He slid open him and Sonics conversation and started typing.

YOU: Hello Sonic.
YOU: I am currently finishing up my summary of my recent mission.
Sonic 💙: sounds boring
Sonic 💙: you shld go on a run wif me
YOU: I would, but I really need to finish this. Also, fix your spelling.
Sonic 💙: lameee also its a typo ever heard of it
YOU: Okay.
Sonic 💙: call meeee 😿😿
YOU: Why? Are you okay?
Sonic 💙: im fine i js wanna hear your voice
Shadow blushed a bit and giggled at his phone.
As soon as he heard the giggle escape him, he stopped.
How pathetic..
He turned his attention back to his phone when it started vibrating in his hand.
Sonics contact photo popped up.

ANSWER or DECLINE?
Shadow stared at his contact image, as he always did when Sonic called him.
It was a picture of Sonic, obviously. Shadow had taken it of him.
But it wasn’t a normal one.
At least, not in Shadows eyes.
It was Sonic at the beach in the water, surprisingly, and he had a giant grin in his face as his quills glistened in the light and his peach chest shined.
He looked amazing..
Shadow shook his head as he remembered Sonic was waiting for him to pick up. He set up his phone on his phone holder and accepted the call.
Sonics face came into view.
”HEY SHADS!!!” Sonics upbeat, hyper voice came pouring out of Shadows phone speakers, cricky and cracky, filling the room.
”Hello Sonic.”
A few seconds go by in silence. Shadow glanced back up at his phone to see Sonic staring at him with a faint pink flush in his cheeks.
”Sonic..?”
Sonic blinked slowly as he muttered, “Huh..?”
”Are you..alright?”
Sonic shook his head and smiled sheepishly.
“Oh! Yes. Yes, I’m alright sorry its just..”
Shadow stared at him expectantly.
”You wear glasses?” Sonic asked, the red flush flooding back onto his face full force.
Shadow had completely forgotten about his glasses and quickly reached to take them off his face.
How could’ve he forgotten? Ugh, such a dumb mistake. Now Sonics is going to laugh at him.
“Yes uhm..I do.”
Sonic nodded.
”They uhm..they look really good on you.”
Shadows head shot up, a frown of confusion on his face.
”Really? Your not going to make fun of me or anything..?”
Sonic smiled, arching an eyebrow.
”No, why would I do that?”
Shadow shook his head, a bit in disbelief.
”I don’t know, sorry.”
Sonic, who knew Shadow too well, changed the subject to describing his day.
Shadow listened intently whilst typing up the last of his summary. He sometimes chimed in, asking questions about the things that happened to Sonic that day, chuckling a bit at his exasperation.
Their phone call lasted 4 hours.

Shadow lay is his bed, still on the phone with Sonic.
Sonic was sitting in his living room, Tails sitting in the chair next to him. Shadow only knew this because 1, he can see yellow tails flicking in and out of frame and 2, Sonic had told him.
They were playing GamePigeon. Sonic had insisted that he could beat Shadow in Crazy 8. We all know Shadow doesn’t back down from a challenge.
Obviously, to the surprise of absolutely no one, Shadow had won.
”WHAT!?” Sonic exclaimed, an angry expression etched onto his face.
“How did you win!? You definitely cheated or something.”
Shadow smiled, laughing a bit.
”We are playing digitally. How would I have cheated?”
Shadow heard a grumble, something along the lines of, you cheating bitch..
Sonic sighed and shuffling could be heard on the other line.
“Well, I’m tired and its getting late so in gonna hit the sack.”
Shadow nodded.
”Goodnight Sonic.”
”Oh one more thing!” Shadow paused as his thumb hovered over the hang up button.
”Hm?”
”Wanna go on a run tomorrow?”
”Maybe. I have some errands to run but its not unlikely.”
Sonic nodded.
”Alright, bye Shads.”
”Goodnight Sonic.”
Before the call ended, faintly in the back, Tails’s voice could be heard before being cut off.
”Nice going Sonic. Can’t you just tell hi-“
The line cut and Shadow didn’t think anything of it.
Probably not the best choice, now was it?
