Rome. Berlin. Two men chasing empires — and each other — across a continent on fire. With diplomatic letters laced with innuendo to photo ops that look suspiciously like wedding portraits, Hitler and Mussolini are locked in something far messier than politics: desire, delusion, and the ever-eroding dream of shared dominion.
But alliances crack. Wars drag on. And the heart of fascism is as fragile as the man who thinks he can control it.
From shared cigars in the Berghof to jealous outbursts over Stalin, Axis of Affection reimagines 20th-century totalitarianism as the slow-burn, strangers-to-allies-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-back-to-lovers situationship nobody asked for — but I wrote because of a dumb dare.
