    Summary

    Even in Paris, it is the Jazz Age, and promising young writer Ernie Hemingway is working on her first novel. She and her husband befriend Paul Pfeiffer, a cheerful, dashing, well-heeled expatriate. Surely, the boozy brunches, the shopping trips, and the compliments are all in good fun, until the taxi takes a particularly sharp turn. (This is a reimagining of the life of Ernest Hemingway, with most parties genderbent).

    When I lost my virginity on that dock in upper Michigan and did not want to, I took up boxing in earnest. Since then, I have slugged any number of men who did not understand the word “no,” until I met Henry Richardson and married him and we brought our Bumby into the world.
