Sometimes, it was the smallest things.
The twitch of Nya's hand as it found Jays, Kai's long and boring rambles about a cute person he saw, even glancing at the photo of his parents on the wall reminded him.
The small pang in Lloyd's chest knowing he could never truly experience any of it.
The Aromantic flag hung carefully on Lloyd's wall- a gift from the team after telling them.
Lloyd walked over and slowly ran his hand over the fabric. It was a weird, plastic-like texture, nowhere near the soft material of the hoodie he had traded for his gi.
And yet.
Something felt nice about touching it.
Reassurance- maybe?
Lloyd slowly unhooked the flag and draped it over his shoulders. He'd seen people do this-in images for marketing and videos of parades. The flag hung slightly above the floor.
The material was far from comfortable, slightly itchy and weirdly stiff, but something comforting came from standing, draped in it.
Acceptance.
A small smile made its way to Lloyd's face as he listened. There was little noise in the monastery at the moment, adding to the feeling of serenity and peace.
Minutes passed, and Lloyd just stood in silence, engulfed in peace. Finally, he let go of the flag and caught it, putting it back up to its previous position. The feeling of the flag still lingered on Lloyd's shoulders as he left the room.
