Work Text:
Etho would consider himself a patient man.
He had lots of practice with it.
He lived with the hermits for goodness sake
It’s something you learn quite quickly when you’re on a server full of pranksters.
But one of its new members tested Etho’s patience like he didn’t believe possible anymore
But the bubble bee hybrid was persistent if nothing else.
Joel was probably no bigger than Etho’s palm,
But it just made it all the more irritating then he buzzed around Etho’s fox ears, causing them to flick and twitch in annoyance-
But Joel seems to think it was hilarious-
“Effo! Look at me!”
“Effo look at what I built!”
“Effo play a game with me-“
“Effo!”
“Effo!”
All while zipping around his head-
It grew too much!
Just leave him alone already! Could he just stop acting like a child for one day and go bother someone else!!!?
Joel stilled midair right in front of Etho’s masked face.
His face no longer smiling.
“I’m… sorry Effo…-“ Joel’s voice was smaller than he was used to, as the Bubble bee hybrid slowly sunk to the grassy floor below.
“I’ll make sure I don’t bother you again.”
Wait-
Had he said that out loud??
“Joel hold on- I didn’t mean-“
“Save it-“
And Joel walked away.
Etho could have caught up if he tried quite easily but…
As for the emotional damage he just caused…
He had no idea how to help…
So he let his friend walk away.
Maybe Xisuma would know what to do but-
If this was a test of patience
Then Etho failed.
He wasn’t as patient as he originally thought.
