Wine and Dine

Summary:

Wukong heard that Erlang had amazing alcohol tolerance.

He decides to test that.

Notes:

This is basically kind of a prequel? To my previous fic about Wukong with anesthesia. Yang Jian is basically experiencing the same thing but it’s not as silly lol.

It happens while they are not officially together yet. Yang Jian is pining. And Wukong has no idea.

They are “only roommates” for now.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was very rare for Yang Jian to become drunk.

Wukong was admittedly a lightweight. It did not take much to make him tipsy.

After the Havoc, (which was kind of sort of partly because he had been drunk) he promised to never become completely drunk ever again.

However, when Yang Jian’s brothers came over for a hangout and started a drinking party, Wukong joined after they insisted on him drinking with them.

He chugged and got completely wasted after only 2 bottles and they made fun of him for days after that.

“Brother Erlang is very good at holding his alcohol! I’m surprised his skill didn’t rub off on you!” One said.

“Yeah, you were a whole drunken mess. You couldn’t even tell right from left!” Another laughed.

They were only joking in good fun. It was humorous.

For everyone but Wukong.

Even Yang Jian chuckled a bit at the teasing. This made him a bit annoyed. How dare they mock his tolerance level! He’ll show them!

So, he did a little bit of chemistry when he was home alone. Yang Jian made him promise to be on his best behavior while he and Xiaotian went out on a walk.

Wukong was technically keeping his promise. Just…also having a bit of fun. That’s all.

He’ll clean up the mess before Yang Jian comes home. So it’s no big deal.

When he finished, he covered his nose and went over to a newly pigeon that was sitting on the balcony. It cocked its head at him, wondering if it was going to get food.

Wukong tentatively reaches over and the pigeon pokes a beak through the chemistry bottle, sniffing the strange substance.

Immediately after, the pigeon starts tipping and falls off the balcony. (Don’t worry, Wukong catches it before it splats).

“Perfect!” His creation works! It was an alcoholic beverage so strong, a whiff was enough to make someone woozy!

Yang Jian was the best at drinking, huh? Then let’s see just how amazing his tolerance really is!

“If I can’t get you to make a fool of yourself, then my name isn’t Sun Wukong!” He thought.

***
That night, he sets up dinner after ordering takeout from both of their favorite restaurants. Yang Jian forbade him from cooking after he nearly destroyed their kitchen.

He decides to set up some nice decorations and put out fancy plates to really sell it.

When Yang Jian came out from his studies room, he takes a look at the table and the setting, blinking twice.

“Is-is this?…” Yang Jian trailed off, his heart beating fast.

He had tried to get Wukong to see the signs of his affections. But the oblivious guy just couldn’t understand. Could this mean that Wukong was finally returning his feelings? Was he trying to take their relationship a step further?

Wukong smiled sweetly and said, “You’ve been working so hard, you know? I wanted to do something nice for you, roomie.”

Yang Jian smiles back as Wukong pulls him a chair. Wow. Service? He had not been expecting that.

They eat in peace, talking about their day. Wukong seemed pretty attentive and even a bit…giddy? But Yang Jian figured it was just because he was nervous about their date.

Is it a date? He wasn’t sure what Wukong thought this was. From any outsider’s perspective, this was a very romantic dinner date. But Wukong was so oblivious, Yang Jian wasn’t sure…

After talking for a while, Wukong uncorks a bottle of wine and pours him a glass. Yang Jian notes that Wukong didn’t pour any wine for himself.

“Wukong, do you not want to drink any? We should toast properly.”

Meanwhile, Wukong secretly assumes that Yang Jian was trying to get him to make a fool of himself again. What a jerk!

“Nope! I’m good. I’ll stick with my juice, thank you,” Wukong replies as he pours himself fruit juice that resembled the wine’s color.

Yang Jian sniffed the wine and sensed that it was…unusual. The smell was not unpleasant. But it was pretty potent.

But Wukong was holding up his own glass with a small smile, eyes shining, so Yang Jian did not have the heart to reject this offer.

“Cheers,” they both said.

Yang Jian downs the wine in one gulp, every last drop. Wukong sips his juice a bit as he watches him.

It doesn’t seem like anything was going to change. Until Wukong noticed that Yang Jian’s face was becoming a bit flushed.

Also, Yang Jian wasn’t moving anymore. He was just sitting there with a blank stare, hand holding his wine glass.

Wukong starts to get a bit worried and he walks over to see what the matter was.

“Yang Jian? Yang Jian, are you-

Yang Jian’s head suddenly falls over, face planted in the dish in front of him. Wukong stares at him, stunned.

Suddenly, Yang Jian’s head SHOOTS back up again and he turns to look at Wukong, eyes hazy and face covered with the food.

“Um, you got a little something…” Wukong says, going over to wipe some of it off.

Unexpectedly, Yang Jian sits there, very still as Wukong cleans his face with a cloth and water.

When Wukong touched his face, it felt warm. By the looks of it, Yang Jian was now completely wasted!

But why wasn’t he doing anything? When Wukong was drunk, he went around and became a bit…crazy. He heard that he was very emotional and verbal when drunk.

It seems as if Yang Jian was the complete opposite. Silent. Still. And just watching him like a little curious cat.

Maybe it was time to go to bed now. His plan had worked but it was a bit disappointing to see that even when drunk, Yang Jian was still so poised and elegant. Not at all the funny sight Wukong had hoped to see.

Wukong sighs and takes Yang Jian’s hand. Yang Jian looks at it and then uses his other hand to clasp Wukong’s.

“Warm.” Yang Jian said.

Wukong nodded. “Sure, buddy. Let’s get you to bed now.”

Yang Jian allows Wukong to lift him up and then obediently allows Wukong to pull him towards the bedroom.

Wukong gestures to the bed and says, “Ok, time to get in. Goodnight-

As Wukong tried to let go of Yang Jian’s hand, he found that Yang Jian was GRIPPING onto him with a lethal tight grip. He twists and turns his hand but it was no use. Even when he was drunk, Yang Jian was still so strong!

“Uh hm. I-I need to go now, Yang Jian. Go to bed, ok?”

He had been so complacent with Wukong leading him that Wukong assumed Yang Jian would just listen to what he tells him to do.

But Yang Jian shakes his head.

He takes a step closer to Wukong and says, “Stay.”

Wukong blinks. “Stay? Well, yes I’m still here but my bedroom is over there-

Yang Jian tightens his grip on Wukong’s hands. It was starting to hurt a bit. He lifts them up and says, “Stay.”

Wukong wasn’t sure how to reject this proposal. Technically speaking, this WAS his fault. So he did feel responsible to take care of Yang Jian in this vulnerable state.

“All right. I’ll stay with you. I won’t leave, ok? Now get into bed.”

Yang Jian seemed pleased with this and nodded, prompting Wukong to laugh and give him a small pat on the cheek.

“Good Yang Jian.”

Yang Jian was looking at him with a sort of curious gaze. It was hazy, yes, but also..,soft?

Wukong leads him to the bed and helps him to lie down. Then he kneels beside Yang Jian, expecting him to go to sleep.

Yang Jian turns his head and POUTS, asking Wukong, “Why are you there?”

Wukong replied, “Didn’t you want me to stay with you?”

Yang Jian said, “Stay with me. Here.”

Yang Jian gestures to the bed and pats it, indicating that he wanted Wukong to stay ON the bed with him.

Wukong blushes and replies, “I’m good over here. Just go to sleep now.”

Yang Jian then sits upright. Even when drunk he had a perfect posture. It made Wukong a bit annoyed at how proper Yang Jian was.

Then Yang Jian starts stripping. And Wukong cries out in alarm.

“W-what are you doing?! Yang Jian, put your clothes on!”

Yang Jian said, “Hot.”

Of course. The wine was making his body temperature go up. Once again, Wukong had only himself to blame.

He gets up and goes to Yang Jian’s walk-in closet, rummaging around and finds a pair of silk pajamas. When he turns around to go back, he squeaks when he bumps into Yang Jian’s chest.

And he realizes that Yang Jian was fully naked right in front of him.

Wukong thinks a part of him died inside. His tail and fur puffs up in embarrassment as he squeezes his eyes tight. Before he could say anything, Yang Jian’s arm wraps around him and Wukong finds himself laying on his solid shoulder.

“Together. Mine.” Yang Jian mumbles.

“Uh uh huh. Ye-yeah, yours. I’m all yours Yang Jian.”

Yang Jian leans back, with his face still only inches away from Wukong’s own. Wukong swallows nervously, not sure what Yang Jian was thinking.

“Ya-Yang Jian, I got you some-hmph!”

Yang Jian suddenly leans forward and smashes their lips together, tongue darting in Wukong’s mouth and Wukong’s eyes are wide as he’s thoroughly kissed.

Instinctively, he holds Yang Jian, trying not to collapse from the intensity of the kiss, feeling tears start to form in his eyes. He could taste the strong remaining alcohol in Yang Jian’s mouth and felt himself getting a bit intoxicated.

When they both part, Wukong felt a bit lightheaded. He wanted to keep kissing Yang Jian, so he did.

They made out in the closet, bodies connected and intertwined until Yang Jian started to strip Wukong, wanting to kiss the rest of him.

When Wukong felt the slight coolness of the air, he finally snaps out of his little dazed episode and pushed Yang Jian away.

“Oh gosh, Yang Jian. Uh um, here! Put these on! And go to bed!” Wukong throws the set of pajamas to Yang Jian, turning away so he doesn’t see him changing.

Yang Jian catches the pajamas and reluctantly listens, walking back out into the bedroom.

Wukong felt his poor heart pounding, he could hear himself breathing heavily, trying to control the spiraling feelings from what just happened.

“Oh my gosh, Yang Jian’s gonna kill me when he wakes up…” Wukong pulls at his fur in frustration. Gosh, he really just took advantage just like that?!

Yang Jian was gonna be so angry with him. Not only did he basically drug Yang Jian, but he also MADE OUT WITH HIM. Yang Jian! His roommate!

He felt so awful but he wasn’t sure what to do. What was done was done.

Or maybe Yang Jian will forget all about it! And they can pretend it never happened!

Either way, Wukong quietly goes back to the bedroom where Yang Jian was sitting, fully clothed now. Wukong thought he would have fallen asleep already, but it seems as if Yang Jian was waiting…

For him?

Yang Jian opens his arms wide and looks at him with those half lidded dazed eyes.

“Together.” He said again.

Wukong smiled despite himself. Who knew drunk Yang Jian could be so clingy? It was kind of adorable.

“Ok, I’m coming,” Wukong says as he crawls into the bed with Yang Jian.

Yang Jian wraps his arms around Wukong and Wukong finds that it was REALLY comfortable. He fit perfectly into Yang Jian’s embrace.

He tilts his head up to see Yang Jian watching him, eyes blinking.

Wukong smiles and puts a hand on his cheek, stroking it gently. Yang Jian leans into his touch.

“Go to sleep. I’m right here.”

This seems to satisfy Yang Jian.

They both eventually drifted off to sleep.

Notes:

Bonus:

What the heck happened last night?…” Yang Jian sits at the corner of the bed, both hands on his head.

Wukong was snoring a bit, still sleeping in HIS BED. YANG JIAN’S BED!

And not only that! Yang Jian found that there were MARKS ON Wukong’s neck and face, as if he had been bitten or kissed! And Yang Jian was wearing zero underwear.

He had gotten drunk somehow and then…

Oh gosh, all of the signs were there. Had they really done it?!

Yang Jian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

*don’t do what Wukong did and mix alcohol and stuff.
