Work Text:
Without my human, I'd probably be dead
I am loved, pampered, groomed and well fed
So, despite my wanderlust, I keep my forays short
For I am a sentry against mice, I defend the fort
For my services, I am paid in tummy rubs and cuddles
My human is comforted too; in dark times he comes to me and huddles
When meeting other humans, he uses me as his judge
He wouldn't even have married his wife, if I didn't give him the nudge
So, whoever said dogs are man's best friend probably lied
Because he couldn't replace me with a dog even if he tried.
