Fire Spirit had accidentally kicked Wind Archer out of the bed last night. It wasn't at all uncommon for the flame guardian to move around in his sleep, and Wind Archer would normally just cuddle him until he calmed down. But with his ankle only two days out of surgery, Wind Archer was wary. When Fire Spirit started to kick Wind Archer off the bed, he allowed it.
This did, however, mean he woke up to the hurt flame whining at 5am. "Windy...? Windy...?" Fire Spirit cried.
Wind Archer yawned as he entered the bedroom again. Fire Spirit, his back propped up on one pillow and his ankle up on another, was looking absolutely pathetic in a "sad puppy" type of way. "Are you okay?" Wind Archer asked.
"Why did you leave me...?" Fire Spirit asked. His voice quivered and he sniffled. Oh Witches...
Wind Archer laid back down and snuggled with the flame the best he could. It was a bit hard with all the pillows, but he managed. "You started kicking in your sleep," Wind Archer said, "I didn't want to disturb your ankle, so I left you be."
Fire Spirit whined again, "Don't leave..." he demanded, though in his sleepy state it sounded less demanding and more pathetic. Not only was the poor guardian exhausted, but he was clearly in pain too.
Wind Archer gave Fire Spirit an apology kiss. Fire Spirit was a bit too sleepy to return the kiss, but he smiled against Wind Archer's lips. When he pulled back, Wind Archer said, "Just try to stay still. Remember, your leg has to stay elevated, and..."
Fire Spirit tried to shush the archer. He ended up just sloppily placing an overly warm hand on his boyfriend's face and mumbling, "Shh... it's bedtime..."
Wind Archer removed the hand from his face, but smiled. He gave Fire Spirit one more quick kiss before snuggling the best he could. "Bedtime it is. Goodnight," he said.
"Night..." Fire Spirit yawned and pressed his head against Wind Archer's chest. He was out in seconds.
Fire Spirit was much warmer than usual... perhaps it was just a side effect of the medications. Although it was a bit uncomfortable for Wind Archer, he didn't mind all that much. After double checking that Fire Spirit's leg was properly elevated, he allowed himself to sleep too.
...for about thirty minutes, both men groaning as they were woken by a medication alarm.
