the Motions of Life: a poetry collection

Summary:

perhaps slowing down / pausing / resting is a also a motion worth making. and maybe we’d all realise that these poems (and everything they give and take) are all luxuries and gifts that we were/are fortunate and blessed enough to receive

Chapter 1: Falling

Chapter Text

when we fall, we cant help but fall, and all we do is fall.
falling like the tears from our eyes,
like the rain from the skies
like the ashes of fireworks after their debut moment.
in those moments of weightlessness
our hands will reach for handholds are not there, so they settle
for flailing in meaningless circles until we hit the ground.
and the ground, it comes towards us all too fast but
all too slow, its speed unforgiving and brutal.
no pause, no rewind, no slow-motion,
nor arms to catch us, voices to warn us, mattress beneath us to soften our impact
and when the motions blur above our decent and the hands beyond
stop reaching for us
till even the light above dims to glitter dusted across a black canvas
we’re not even sure we want to land. but when we do
maybe we’ve fallen too far. maybe just far enough to not see anything above, nobody knows.
yet we don’t scream; what’s the point, when the silence after our plummet echoes louder than us
