Shang Qinghua doesn’t know what possesses him to do so, but he jumps away from Mobei Jun like a cat from water, just barely swallowing the hiss that threatens to escape him. Mobei Jun, to his credit, doesn’t do more than raise a brow and prompt, “Qinghua?”
Shang Qinghua isn’t often in the habit of avoiding his king’s company, let alone his touch. He wishes he had a good excuse, like being startled by a chill or a crash, but the best he can manage is that he briefly felt a thousand small needles along the back of his neck, despite knowing that Mobei Jun would never have allowed anyone near his love’s nape.
