The door of the dorm room burst open as Leon entered, slamming the door loudly behind him. “Em! Guess what I got!” Leon announced as he walked over to Emil’s bed. Emil looked up from his phone to see Leon holding a white plastic bag. “You left campus?” Emil asked, wondering what Leon had gotten.
“Yep! Right after class!” Leon grinned. “I had to lie that I just went for coffee and had to hide this in my bag.” Emil raised an eyebrow. “What did you even get then?” He questioned, a bit concerned at the fact that Leon had to hide whatever he had gotten off campus to get back into school.
Leon then pulled out three boxes of hair dye out of the plastic bag, one being hair bleach and the two being red and blue hair dye. A look of surprise took over Emil’s face. “Hair dye? What are you even going to do with hair dye?”
“Dye my hair of course, and maybe yours too if you want.” He smiled and picked up the blue box. “You do know that the school doesn’t allow dyed hair right?” Emil questioned. Leon chuckled. “That’s the fun of it! Besides, I’m only dyeing a small streak.”
Emil stood up and sighed. “Do you want me to help you?” Leon nodded quickly, walking across the dorm and motioning for Emil to follow him. Emil followed after him into the bathroom, flicking on the lights and grabbing a few towels. “This is going to make a huge mess…” Emil huffed. Leon looked back at him and grinned. “Chill out- it’s only a small streak, not my entire head of hair.” He laughed.
“I know, but we’re going to have to each sacrifice a shirt for this.” Emil added. “Right,” Leon replied, briskly walking over to his small wardrobe at the other side of the dorm, pulling out a random grey shirt. He walked back to the bathroom and shooed Emil out for a moment. Emil took that moment to find a shirt he could use, choosing a random white shirt he never wore out of his wardrobe. After Leon was done changing, he changed quickly, and they got right to dyeing Leon’s hair.
“Okay, so I have no idea what I’m doing…” Emil admitted as they stood in the tiny dorm bathroom together. “Search up a Youtube tutorial and hope for the best.” Leon shrugged. Emil pulled one up on his phone; it was a short video, so they watched it together quickly and decided that they would go back to it if they forgot any of it.
“Okay…so the video said that your hair should be cleaned first, so I guess we wash it first…” Emil remarked. Leon stepped over to the bathtub and sat down, leaning his head over the tub’s edge. Emil carded his hands through Leon’s dark brunette hair, noticing him lean a bit into the touch, but brushed it off and quickly went to turn on the water.
He turned on the water to the faucet and took a moment to adjust the temperature before turning on the shower head and taking it off the hook to wet Leon's hair. He made sure to check if all his hair was sopping wet before pouring a bit of shampoo into his palm and scrubbing it all throughout Leon's hair, massaging into his roots and the rest of his hair. Leon closed his eyes and softly smiled as Emil massaged his scalp. Emil's face tinted a shade of red at the other boy's reaction, trying his best to only focus on the task at hand.
He rinsed out the shampoo and did the conditioner, rinsing it out after a few moments. He then turned off the water and placed the retractable shower head back on the hook, grabbing a towel and squeezing out the water in Leon's hair with it.
“You look like a wet cat.” Emil chuckled as he took the towel off of his now-damp hair. Leon put on a dramatic fake look of hurt. “I do not!” Emil smirked and laughed even harder. “Stay right here, I’m going to get the hair dye you left on my bed.” He stood up and exited the bathroom, leaving Leon to sit there for a moment.
Emil came back shortly with the box of hair bleach and the box of red hair dye, setting them both on the sink. He beckoned Leon to stand up, which he complied to, stepping over to the sink next to Emil. “Alright, which strand are we going to bleach?” Emil asked, opening the box and taking the bottle of hair bleach out.
Leon picked up a piece of hair that often stuck out from the rest of his front hairs. “That one?” Emil asked. Leon nodded quickly. “Yeah, If it’s gonna stick out all the time, then I might as well dye it!” Emil smiled and nodded. “Do you have a brush for this?” He asked, realizing Leon hadn’t shown him if he had any hair dye brushes.
“Yeah, it’s in the bag- I just forgot to take it out.” Leon reassured him. Emil briskly walked back to his bed, taking out a hair dye brush from it. He walked over to the small singular cabinet they had in the dorm, taking out a medium-sized plastic bowl and returning to the bathroom with both items, setting them on the sink along with the hair dye.
Emil opened the bottle of hair bleach, pouring it into the bowl and grabbing the brush to mix it a bit. “You should tie the rest of your hair back before I put it in.” Emil stated, putting down the bowl for a second to hand Leon a hair tie that was on the sink. Leon tied his hair back as Emil continued to mix the bleach up.
“Don’t you need a hair developer for this?” Emil asked. Leon finished tying his hair up and looked up at him. “Yeah, I have some in my regular bag that must’ve fallen out of the plastic one while I was hiding it.” He replied.
Emil sighed and quickly went to go get it, coming back shortly. “Any more things you need me to grab for this while I’m at it?” He questioned. “Nope, that should be it…” Leon replied. Emil poured some of the hair developer with the bleach, mixing it all together.
“Ready?” He asked, holding up the mix of bleach and developer. Leon nodded, standing to Emil’s side so he could reach the section he picked out easier. Emil carefully took the piece of hair, being sure to carefully separate it from the rest of the hair. He took the brush and started to spread the mixture throughout the section of hair, being sure to get the underside of the hair as well.
He finished coating the entire section in the mixture, putting the brush back into the bowl. He had almost emptied the entire amount he poured. “Hold your hair for a moment, I need to go get some aluminum foil to wrap it in.” He stated before briskly walking over to go get some aluminum foil.
He came back with a sheet of aluminum foil, taking Leon’s section of hair and wrapping the foil around it. “Now we wait.”
After twenty minutes, Emil slowly unwrapped the foil, revealing the bleached section of hair. He combed his fingers through it, making sure all of it was bleached completely. He then took Leon to the tub to wash it out with shampoo and conditioner, then making sure none of the bleach washed out as he washed it.
Emil then repeated the process with the hair dye, leaving it in for about twenty-five minutes before washing it out. The result turned out to be a deepish red color, nicely contrasting the rest of Leon’s dark brunette hair.“It should be done; we just have to wash it.” Emil smiled as he led Leon over to the tub once again to wash it out.

“It’s still a bit wet- I guess we’ll just have to have it air dry for a bit…” Emil said as he combed Leon’s now damp hair. Leon smiled, seeming happy with the results. “Well, if we’re gonna be waiting for mine to dry, we might as well do something else for a bit!” Leon excitedly replied.
“Oh yeah? Like what?” Emil asked, a curious look on his face. Leon looked over to him with an even more excited look. “Mariokart of course! It’s always fun to see you lose~” Leon teased. “Oh you’re on! We’re dyeing my hair after, though!” Emil exclaimed, running over to the other side of the dorm, Leon following close behind.
“We’re so dead when we go to class tomorrow…” Leon sighed, a bit of humor in his tone. “Yeah…but it’s totally worth it though-” Emil replied, only focusing on the present, not the consequences of both of their actions. Besides, who cares if you get yelled at later when you’re having fun now?
