Clark honestly hadn't meant for this to become a thing when it started. He'd just noticed that Bruce's lips were getting chapped and tucked some chapstick into Batman's utility belt with a doodled S-shield as a calling sign. It had been a one-off sign of affection that Clark hadn't thought too much about.
And then, when he went to replace a pen he broke, he found a whole new pack of his favorite ballpoint pens in his desk drawer at the planet, with a little bat doodled on the packaging.
"Huh." He pondered it for a bit, until Jimmy asked him what he was looking at.
Twice is coincidence, but three times was a pattern. So Clark was deliberate this time.
Bruce was very particular about the notebooks he uses for note-taking in League meetings. Clark had noticed it was about time to replace his current one, so he very carefully left one at Batman's place at the table.
Everyone swept in at once, chattering away, but Clark made sure to see what Bruce thought of his gift.
As soon as he laid eyes on it, Bruce stood stalk still. Clark momentarily feared he'd made a misstep. Maybe this was too presumptuous and Bruce had already taken care of it.
And then Bruce smiled. It's subtle, but it's there and beautiful and brilliant. As he settled into his seat, he traced his fingers over the small S-shield Clark had carefully sketched on the corner of the cover.
Clark felt his face heat and tamped it down. There was a meeting to get through.
Afterwards, Bruce cornered Clark in the hallway.
"I take it you liked my present," Clark grinned as Bruce latched onto him.
"Very much so," Bruce admitted, nuzzling against his neck. "I'll have to get something for you to find."
"I'll look forward to that," Clark said breathlessly.
