Work Text:
The cool breeze slipped through the cracks of the top floor. Etho typed away at their computer mumbling quietly to Themself about their coding. They had a deadline for the end of the week to have the second boss to be fully coded into the game.
They glanced out the windows feeling the nice breeze waft through the room. Perhaps they needed a break just for a few moments so they could watch the people down below. Staring at their computer screen was beginning to numb their thoughts down and make him mess up on the if then statements in their coding.
Besides, their boss always said they and Tango were the most skilled and dedicated to the project.
Speaking of their partner, Etho turned to the empty computer desk in front of them. Tango had left for a small walk on their lunch break and still wasn’t back.
They hummed quietly, before standing up and stretched up towards the ceiling. They danced slightly in place, shaking out the kinks and stiff joints from sitting at the desk for over four hours.
The door to the office opened after a few moments. “Etho, I'm back.” Tango trailed off blinking rapidly at the sight of Etho dancing in place.
Etho paused, and felt their cheeks warm from under the mask. “ I just needed to stretch, sitting in that chair made me all stiff.”
Tango chuckled fondly. “Sorry for being later than usual, I got stuck at the coffee shop and realized that I completely misunderstood one of the drink names and had to order another.”
Etho hummed. “Ah, that makes sense. Their eyes fell to the bag on Tango’s wrist. “What did you buy?”
“Well, I went windowshoppificating while on the way here and spotted something.” With a grin he pulled out a white fox plush with a little red heart around its eye. ”Isn’t it cute? I figured it would look good on your desk.” He grinned, handing it over to Etho.
Etho’s eyes widened, they stroked the fur of the plush. “Oh, Tango, thank you. He is a cute little guy isn’t he?” Etho hummed happily as he placed the plush on the desk.
Tango grinned proud of himself before taking his seat at his desk and continuing with their project.
Etho took a seat at their own desk once more, and glanced up at the plus, a fond smile was hidden underneath the mask as they glanced at Tango. Their heart skipped a different beat for the first time since meeting Tango.
