'I think I screwed up.' Jay thought, watching the faces of his irritated friends, ready to pounce on him.
It wasn't his fault. At least not entirely. Whoever thought combining ADHD and planning a Halloween party was a good idea should have thought again. And definitely omitted Jay from any important role.
The redhead meant well; it wasn't his fault that instead of serving regular tea, or some juice, or perhaps a bowl of questionable punch, he accidentally reached for the shelf where Master Wu kept his magical teas. Of course, to the fury of the other ninjas, the Master of Thunder was also responsible for their costumes.
Thus, the monastery now housed five monsters from legend, furious with the redhead, one worried Master, and Jay himself, who had caused the whole mess. The redhead wondered if running away was an admission of guilt or the only way to survive the evening, especially since one person literally looked ready to kill.
“Master, tell me you have the antidote.” Lloyd asked, trying not to explode. The fact that he was now a small golden kitten didn’t add to the anger he felt, but the two tails, as golden as his fur, wagging angrily behind him made it clear he wasn’t happy with the situation he found himself in.
“Unfortunately, I don’t.” the old man replied, stroking his long beard thoughtfully, trying not to laugh at the state his students were in.
“I’ll kill you, Jay. I’ll murder you, and then I’ll drink every drop of your blood.” Kai threatened, approaching the redhead, intending to carry out his threat, revealing the long fangs he was eager to sink into the blue ninja’s flesh.
“Kai, there will be no killing.” Master Wu replied immediately.
“So the costume won't go to waste.” Jay said at the same time, having already stated that Kai would look great in a vampire outfit.
The blue ninja wasn't wrong, but the gleaming fangs and red eyes focused on his throat suggested he might find out for himself that he would pay in blood for his fantasy. The worst part was that the redhead even seemed to enjoy the vision a little.
“Don't complain, Kai, you're not in such a bad way.” Nya said, offended, lying on the ground with a blue fishtail. “At least you can move.”
Cole, disguised as a werewolf, muttered something under his breath and lay back down on Zane, who petted his furry, erect ear. Nindroid was also not thrilled with the form change, although he suffered the least from it. Being disguised as a fairy had made him part human, and his only problem was that he now had pink wings that sparkled like they were sprinkled with glitter, but other than that, the ice master had no complaints.
“The potion will lose its effect on its own in a few hours or days.” the old man informed. “It depends on how many tea bags Jay put in the pot.”
“How long?” Cole asked resignedly, not wanting to get up from Zane's spot on the couch. Everyone looked expectantly at the redhead, standing in a long robe, holding a wand and a pointed hat.
“Like nine?” Jay replied uncertainly, and everyone groaned in unison.
“That's days then.” Master Wu concluded curtly.
“I'll kill you.” Kai growled again, and Jay definitely believed him. For the first time that evening, he thought and used his newly acquired skills to teleport before the fire master caught up with him.
“Ninja, I understand your frustration, but remember not to cause any trouble and to control the new aspects of your character.” the master replied, smiling slightly at the sight his students presented before he retired to meditation. Meanwhile, an angry Kai set off in search of Jay, muttering something under his breath about redheads' troubles.
“Is there any chance you could throw me in the bathtub or the sea? I feel dehydrated.” Nya muttered from her spot on the floor.
“I’d love to if you could tell me how.” Lloyd said, leaping off the couch and, trying not to trip over his own paws, approaching Nya.
“Cole?” the girl asked, ignoring her younger brother’s sarcastic comment.
“I’m already on it.” the werewolf groaned, rising from his lover and quickly picking up the girl, carrying her to the bathroom, where he placed her in the bathtub, which they immediately filled with water.
“Can I get you something?” the earthbender asked before leaving the room.
“A spear so I can kill Jay when he shows up, and a phone with a charger. At least I can watch some TV shows.” the girl requested.
“Sure.” Cole said and brought everything Nya wanted and a pillow, for which he was rewarded with a smile.
With nothing else to do, he headed to his snow fairy, in no mood for anything other than a nap when he passed an irritated Kai in the hallway, searching every corner. And peering into every cabinet.
"I doubt Jay would hide in a drawer." the Earth Master snapped, observing his friend's absurd behavior.
"He's a wizard now, he could shrink himself and hide in a shoe, even." Kai growled in response, continuing his search, and the werewolf bit his tongue to avoid mentioning that Jay probably wouldn't have thought of such a thing.
"Hey, I'm not thrilled about it either, but I think you're overreacting." Cole spoke up again.
"I'm not overreacting!" the Fire Master replied immediately, showing his fangs.
“I think you're overreacting a bit.” Cole announced as the vampire appeared in front of him at lightning speed.
“It's all Jay's fault!” the red ninja shouted. “I told him I didn't want to participate in this childish game, much less dress up. And what did he do? He got me a costume and turned me into a monster!”
“Okay, but that still doesn't explain why you're so agitated.” Cole replied, though he was increasingly tempted to growl a warning at the vampire to back off.
“I... I don't know.” Kai replied, surprised, pausing for a moment to think.
“It's just a suggestion, but could it be related to your newfound vampirism?” the werewolf asked, trying to find a clue.
“I guess?” Kai said thoughtfully. “I think it's all because of the smell.”
“The smell?” Cole repeated, confused.
“I don't understand it myself!” the red ninja exclaimed irritably, rubbing his face. “But Jay... it smells so... it's indescribable, it's just a wonderful smell.”
“Okay, I won't judge, but why are you freaking out then?” the werewolf asked, scratching behind his ear, which stuck out through his hair.
“Because I don't know if it's because I want to taste his blood or kiss him.” Kai growled, and Cole stiffened for a moment in surprise before he started laughing. “That's not funny! I shouldn't think of my friend in any of those ways.”
“Oh, believe me, it is funny.” the black ninja managed between bursts of laughter. “You know what? As long as you don't kill him, I think he'll like it either way. After all, for some reason, he forced you to wear that outfit he likes so much.”
“What?” the red ninja asked, not understanding what Cole was talking about.
“If you turn me in, I'll trade your hair gel for glue, but our redhead has a thing for vampires. Or at least, books that have a romantic element to them.” Cole confessed, mentally apologizing to his friend for betraying him, but he saw this situation as a solution to the problem of two idiots jumping around, afraid the other didn't feel the same way the first did.
“What does that have to do with me?” Kai asked, pointing to himself.
“What costume did Jay get especially for you?” Cole asked.
Kai sighed, observing the midnight-black cape enveloping his figure and the matching red vest that gave him an aristocratic air. The disguise itself wasn't bad; the fake fangs, red contact lenses, and long plastic ears didn't bother him either, as long as they didn't become his true features.
“A vampire, obviously, but I don't see what that has to do with Jay's fascination with vampires…” Kai stopped mid-sentence and looked at Cole, his eyes wide. “Jay likes me?!”
“I didn't tell you that, I'll deny it.” Cole declared, but he also nodded.
“Jay likes me? Me? He does? B-but he likes me, or he likes, likes me?” Kai asked frantically.
“What do you think, since I'm telling you this, knowing you've been in love with him since before we got the golden weapons?” the werewolf replied, irritated.
“I... You know what, I won't even deny it or ask how you know.” Kai decided aloud.
“Right, now do something about Jay.” the black-haired man ordered, turning away.
“I have to find him first anyway.” the vampire replied, adjusting his cloak. “And then I'll decide what to do with him.”
“That sounded threatening.” Cole joked, walking away in search of his beloved fairy.
Kai just flashed his fangs, turning off the light.

Jay hid in the closet in his room, listening for anyone approaching, especially a certain very handsome ninja he'd accidentally transformed into a vampire. The redhead had to come up with a plan if he didn't want to fall victim to the fangs Kai so eagerly pointed at him. The thought sent shivers through the lightning master, but not from fear.
"Actually, they should thank me; thanks to me, they're having the most realistic Halloween party ever." Jay muttered to himself, sitting on the floor of the closet. "They won't stay monsters forever, and they can have some fun now. Sure, they could use different disguises to make things better, but who would have thought it would be so difficult to get six costumes in the right sizes at the last minute?"
The redhead would probably have continued his silent argument with himself, which he considered himself winning, if he hadn't heard the door to his room creak open. The blue ninja immediately held his breath and clapped his hands to his mouth to conceal any sound, straining to listen, but he heard no footsteps or anything to suggest anyone else was in the room. He was about to breathe a sigh of relief that it was just a false alarm when he heard fingernails scratching against the wood, making all his hair stand on end.
"I know you're there." Kai whispered with satisfaction, hearing the master of lightning try to drown out the squeal.
Jay immediately froze in terror. He had no idea what to do; another teleportation was out of the question, as Kai would find him too quickly, especially now that he wasn't distracted by Master Wu. The blue ninja quickly considered his options, but nothing came to mind.
“I’ll give you ten seconds, and then I’ll start chasing you.” the fire master announced, leaning against the wall next to the closet, examining his fingernails for the first time, which had grown longer since his transformation. “Unless you’d rather I pull you out of the closet myself.”
“No thanks.” the redhead replied immediately, opening the closet and stepping out, feeling another shiver at the sight of his friend's silhouette shrouded in darkness. “But really, it's not my fault; we don't have to get into any brutal murders.”
“Okay, murder's out.” Kai nodded, and Jay felt his fear only grow at the calm expression on the fire master's face.
“Kai?” the lightning ninja asked uncertainly.
“But you still owe me something for that interesting transformation.” the red ninja muttered, smiling wide enough that his fangs were clearly visible.
“Kai, you're starting to scare me.” Jay declared, pressing his back against the now-closed closet, wanting to slowly back away from the fire master, who didn't scare him enough, even when he truly hated him just because he was dating Nya.
“Perfect.” Kai clapped his hands together, slowly moving towards the blue ninja, whose heart was threatening to burst from his chest. “Then you better run while you still have the chance.”
“Wh-what?” Jay stammered, unable to focus on his friend’s words as he leaned over him like that, practically holding him in place with his gaze.
“Ten.” Kai said in response, and the message finally registered in the redhead’s foggy mind that he had to run.
Without waiting any longer, the lightning master rushed for the door, trying to ignore his friend's laughter behind him and the subsequent numbers being announced aloud. Jay ran through the corridors, and for the first time, he found the monastery too large. He wondered if he'd make it to the garage, where he could quickly hop on a vehicle and visit his parents until his friends returned to normal.
Kai might look incredibly attractive in this state, but Jay was afraid that if the red ninja hadn't murdered him, the redhead would do something foolish at the mere sight of him. Something like confessing his feelings, and that was out of the question, especially since the red ninja had recently started spending more time with him and paying him much more attention, which made Jay more energized than usual. The redhead wasn't about to lose that because of the foolish feelings he felt for his friend. He preferred to love him just as a friend.
The lightning master almost cried with relief upon seeing the garage door, but a faint noise behind him immediately caused him to turn, expecting to see the vampire right behind him. However, the hallway was empty, and the only thing moving were the curtains fluttering against the open windows. Shaking his head, the redhead turned to open the garage door, but immediately collided with someone.
“Gotcha.” the red ninja announced with terrifying satisfaction, and this time Jay couldn't hold back a squeal, jumping back and immediately running away again, while the vampire just stood there, watching him with amusement.
Unfortunately, every time Jay thought he was safe, or that he'd managed to lose the red ninja, he'd instantly reappeared, sending his friend into near-heart-attack mode. The redhead practically coughed his lungs out as he jumped into the workshop and closed the door behind him, listening for Kai's approach and trying to calm his breathing and his racing heart. Master Wu wouldn't be able to accuse him of inactivity this evening. Breathing louder, the redhead locked the door and leaned his ear closer again, listening, deciding to remain vigilant.
“Are you waiting for someone?” Kai said mockingly from behind him, and Jay turned around in a panic, only to come face to face with a red ninja hanging from one of the beams supporting the ceiling.
"Kai!" Jay yelled, immediately reaching for the key, but before he had a chance to open the door, the red ninja's cold hand stopped him.
“I think that's enough of this tag game.” the fire master announced calmly, pushing his friend against the door.
Jay wanted to say something, to try to escape, but all thoughts were instantly erased when Kai placed his hand on the door next to his head, moving closer. The redhead had dreamed of being in such a situation, but at the moment, it wasn't necessarily appropriate. So the lightning master just swallowed nervously, watching his friend's face and trying not to die.
“Is something wrong? You've gone silent for a while…” the red ninja murmured, and Jay's heart stopped at the sound of his friend's voice.
“K-kai, what are you planning?” Jay asked uncertainly, unsure what the red ninja was thinking.
“Something I hope we both want.” the red ninja replied, moving closer and kissing Jay, who froze, unsure of what was happening.
The redhead couldn't understand what was happening. One moment Kai was playing a terrifying game of tag with him, and the next he was kissing him?! Jay felt like he'd fainted and was dreaming it all. At that same moment, Kai began to pull away, discouraged and terrified by Jay's lack of reaction, beginning to fear that Cole had lied to him. Only then did the blue ninja realize that this wasn't a dream.
The redhead immediately grabbed his friend by the cloak and pulled him back into a kiss, much more passionate than the previous one initiated by the fire master. This time, it was Kai's turn to freeze in surprise, but thankfully, Jay's lips and tongue quickly snapped him out of it, allowing him to fight to regain control of the kiss.
When the boys finally broke apart, both were struggling to catch their breath, but that didn't bother either of them. They both had similar smiles on their faces and couldn't tear their eyes away from each other.
“You know you didn't have to chase me through the monastery, nearly giving me a heart attack, to kiss me?” Jay asked, relaxing and closing the distance between them this time to get as close to the object of his affections as possible.
“You deserved it for that tea circus, and besides, I thought you'd like the idea of a vampire hunting you down.” Kai smirked, and Jay cursed.
“I'll murder Cole.” Jay growled irritably, and the fire master just smiled.
“That can wait. Maybe you should tell me how you liked the hunt first?” the red ninja suggested.
“Hmm... It wasn't bad, but for a hunt, I think something was missing.” Jay replied, intending to take full advantage of Kai's temporary form, who didn't get the hint.
“Huh? What was missing?” the fire master asked, confused, to which Jay smiled mischievously, tilting his head to the side, exposing his neck, allowing Kai to connect the dots. “Oh... Are you sure?”
“I guess I should give you a reward for a successful hunt, right?” Jay replied, observing the red ninja's uncertainty with affection and love.
Kai said nothing more, staring at his beloved's neck, feeling his fangs begin to itch and his throat burn with desire. On the one hand, he was still terrified by the vision Jay held before him, but on the other...
The red ninja moved closer to the offered neck, inhaling with pleasure the sweet scent Jay exuded. Kai kissed the redhead just above the throbbing vein, feeling the blue ninja's pulse quicken with excitement, and he felt his own excitement grow. Without further delay, the fire master sank his fangs into the tempting neck, covered in freckles he longed to count and kiss every single one.
At that moment, those freckles seemed like a treasure map to him, except that the greatest treasure just groaned as sharp fangs pierced the delicate skin, and warm blood immediately flooded the red ninja's mouth. Kai felt a pleasant warmth fill him, and his taste buds sang heavenly hymns, having never tasted anything so delicious. Meanwhile, Jay melted in his lover's arms, unable to believe that losing blood could feel so good.
And as a ninja, he couldn't say it was the first time he'd lost blood, but it had never filled him with such pleasure as now, feeling Kai's neck pressed against his, practically purring with sensation. The redhead wished it would never end. Unfortunately, at some point, Kai decided he'd had enough, not wanting to hurt Jay, and pulled away from his neck with a contented sigh. From his neck, he immediately moved to Jay's lips, unable to resist kissing him.
The redhead didn't even want to complain about the taste of his own blood that Kai's kiss brought with it. They both held on to the kiss, which grew hotter and more intense with each passing moment. The situation would probably have gotten out of control if someone hadn't interrupted them.
“Find a room, you’re disgusting.” mewled Lloyd, who moments earlier had been sleeping on a desk in the corner of the room and was now giving heart attacks to his friends who had no idea he was there.
“Lloyd?!” both ninjas shouted at once, and Kai fastly added. “What are you doing here?”
“I was looking for a quiet place to avoid the fight I thought you were going to make.” the cat replied, stretching before sitting up, wrapping his tails around his legs. “But I see you had other plans.”
Both caught ninjas immediately looked away, unable to look at their friend in cat form. Lloyd just smiled catlikely, hopping off the counter and walking to the door.
“Could you?” the cat turned to Jay, who rushed to open the door to let him out. “Thanks.”
“Okay, that was awkward.” Kai muttered.
“But I think it was worth it.” Jay replied, smiling, grabbing his lover’s hand. “Best Halloween of my life.”
“Happy Halloween.” Kai smiled and the ninja returned to what the green ninja had interrupted.
“For the love of the First Spinjitzu Master, seriously, you couldn't find somewhere else to go?” groaned Cole, who had just entered the workshop with Zane in his arms, watching his friends reproachfully, interrupting the boys' makeout session once again.
“Now I'll help you kill him.” Kai informed his beloved, still holding his hand.
“That tea was so worth using.” Jay sighed, enjoying a successful Halloween, albeit one completely different from what he had planned.
After all, he and Kai could always do it again next year, right?
