Work Text:
Annabeth was pretty much always stressed, but Percy rarely saw her get to the point of hurting herself to offset it.
It was something that would happen, though. She'd get too overwhelmed too quickly and, before she could stop herself, she was hitting herself in the head to try and gain back some control over everything.
On this particular day, she had a bunch of assignments she had to finish up, and she'd also been a bit overstimulated the whole day.
Percy sat in her room as she did her work, just sitting on the bed and letting himself drift through his thoughts.
It was a distressed hum that pulled him back to reality and, when he looked up, he saw the blonde rapidly hitting herself on the side of her head with one fist, the other gripping her hair on the opposite side.
He immediately sprang to action. She'd told him before that she was okay with gentle restraint from him if she started hurting herself, so he softly grabbed her hands, preventing her from further damage.
Slowly and carefully, he moved her hands down to her chest, and wrapped her in a tight hug.
It was clear she was either about to have a meltdown or already entering one, so he gingerly led her away from her desk and into her bed.
As he got up to turn out the lights, the only noise in the room was her distressed hums.
Definitely a meltdown.
He returned to the bed and wrapped his arms around her, gently rocking her until exhaustion took hold of her.
She didn't say anything once it ended. Knowing how these things tended to go for her, she probably couldn't even if she wanted to.
But that was okay.
Percy would be there no matter what level of communication she was at.
