Work Text:

Craig was sure something was bothering Tweek. What that thing was, still remained a mystery. His hand mindlessly writing notes as his professor rambled about quantum physics. Craig was worried. He knew he hadn’t been as affectionate as normal with Tweek, But could you blame him? Final exams were around the corner.

Maybe he was being a dick to Tweek without realizing it. Craig grumbled under his breath as he ran his fingers through his hair. He fucked up. Again.

His professor dismissed them all, while Craig made his way out the building. Tweek didn’t have any lectures today - naturally he was slaving away in his family owned coffee shop. Tweek Bros. Craig knew the route all too well, the same streets, the same cars passing by, the same people. God he was leaving this place once he graduated.

Craig pulled the coffee shop’s door despite the very clearly labeled push. He’ll get it right one day.

“Fuck off fatass!”

“No! you fuck off Khal!”

Craig went straight towards the counter, looking at the menu on the wall. He wasn’t going to get anything, but might as well make it seem casual. Just like that Tweek appeared from back of the store, his face lighting up once he spotted Craig.

“Welcome to T-Tweek Bros. How m-may I help you?”

“Hey honey.” Craig smiled, one hand in his pocket. He could see the light blush dust across Tweek’s face.

“Hi. What are you doing here?” Tweek asked with the brightest smile.

“Well, I was wondering..if..you know.” Tweek watched Craig intently, patiently waiting for him to finish his sentence. “You’d want to hang out..on Friday.” Tweek giggled, as Craig rubbed the back of his neck.

“Are you asking me on a date?” Tweek laughed out, Craig’s face turning a darker shade of red’s than Tweek’s.

“Uh, Well, maybe? But not if you don’t want it to be!” He stammered out as quick as possible. God he felt so nervous and stupid around Tweek.

“Craig.” He locked eyes with Tweek. “We’ve been dating for 8 months now. You can just say you want to take me on a date.”

“I know. But it’s just…nevermind.”

“Well then tell me loverboy, where will you be taking me captive?” Tweek walked behind the counter to finish various tasks, Craig following him like a lost puppy.

“Uh, I was thinking something like a picnic.”

“That sounds perfect!” Craig smiled at Tweek’s enthusiasm, he had honestly just said the first thing that popped in to his mind. But if Tweek liked it, he’s going to make it the best picnic ever! He already couldn’t wait for Friday! But Tweek seemed to be doing better than before. Maybe Craig wasn’t a total dick to him before. But Tweek does have a habit of overlooking Craig’s shortcomings.

“Craig.” But Tweek would surely tell him if something was bothering him that much “Craig.” But then again this is Tweek we’re talking about. “CRAIG!”

“Yes honey?” Craig blinks at his boyfriend - who seems to be very amused at Craig’s dazed state.

“If you’re not going to order can you please wait for me at the side.” Tweek leaned on the counter, going up on his tippy toes and getting as close as possible to Craig’s face, he whispered “You’re holding up the line.” Craig’s face heated up in an instant as he apologized to the person behind him before taking a seat at an empty table. He could just hear Cartman muttering ‘fags’ under his breath.

••••••••••

Tweek was busy in the kitchen. Flour was covering every surface, including himself. There were eggs shells littered across the counter, milk spilling on the floor. Tweek was running all over the place! But Jesus Christ! Where the fuck did he put that damn spatula!

You see. It was Friday. And Craig is about to pick Tweek up in 2 hours. The kitchen was a mess, Tweek was a mess, at this point his life is turning out to be a mess! It’s just Tweek felt the urge to make Craig his favourite chocolate cupcakes, after all Tweek had been a dick to him - It’s the least he could do! To make it up to Craig. The timer went off, as Tweek pulled out fresh cupcakes from the oven. Somehow despite all the mental breakdowns, his cupcakes turned out to be perfection. Every time.

Fuck! He has to clean this place up before his parents up home! And get dressed for when Craig gets here! His life was definitely in shambles.

A knock came from the front door as Tweek shouted out ‘Give me a minute!’ While packing his cupcakes in a paper box. He closed the lid before dashing towards the door, with one swing he was face to face with Craig. The taller held a bouquet of sunflowers in his hand, which he pushed towards Tweek. The blonde was shocked at the gesture - Craig was already taking him out, there was no need for all this!

“Wow. You look beautiful.” Craig spoke before he could stop himself. Embarrassed, Tweek tucks a strand of hair behind his ear.

“Thanks. I didn’t really have time to get all fancied up.” Tweek smiled, accepting the flowers in one hand.

“Well there’s no need. We’re only going to the park, besides you couldn’t look more beautiful than you do now!”

“Oh stop it Craig!” Tweek punched Craig’s arm, as they walked to the old beaten up truck Craig’s dad owned. The taller winced as he rubbed his arm, he forgets at times that Tweek does boxing and is much stronger than he looks. The two hop in before driving towards the park.

Craig set down a picnic blanket on the ground while arranging all the sandwiches and fruits his mum had cut up. Tweek was still in the truck, trying to fix his hair before giving up and making his way over. There wasn’t all that many people in the park, which was good for them. Since Tweek doesn’t like all the peering eyes.

“You made cupcakes?” Craig asked, while watching Tweek placing down his box on the blanket.

“Well, yeah. Their you favourite right?” Tweek held out the chocolate cupcake to Craig’s lips, who happily indulged himself. Tweek smiled as Craig enjoyed his cupcakes.

“Oh! Here. I bought you this.” Craig handed over the coffee from Starbucks, unsurprisingly Tweek gladly accepted the gift.

“Honey. Can I ask you something?” Oh fuck. This is it. This when is Craig tells Tweek he’s been a dick and how he never wants to see him again. God did he really think cupcakes could fix this?

“I’m sorry.” Huh? Did he hear that right. Tweek looked up to see Craig looking at his lap, avoiding eye contact.

“A-About what?” Tweek was genuinely confused.

“You know what about.”

“Craig. I genuinely have no idea!”

“I’ve been a prick to you all week!” Craig looked up at Tweek. He looked…sad.

“Oh Craig. It should be me apologizing.”

“No Tweek! I’m the one who’s been neglecting your every word! I’m the one who’s been ignoring you! It’s my fault so don’t try and put the blame on yourself!” Tweek scooched closer to Craig, he held his cheeks in his hand. Forcing the other to look at him.

“Oh. Oh Craig. I know you think it’s all your fault but it’s mine too. I’ve been so panicked and anxious about finals, and. I’ve taken it out on you. I understand…I’m a lot to handle.”

“Tweek.”

“Uh uh, I’m not finished.” Tweek placed his finger on Craig’s lips immediately silencing the taller. “We both need our own space, but I’m glad you admitted you’re a dick at times.” Tweek smirked, he could see Craig roll his eyes at his words.

“Yeah yeah. I admit it.” Craig rested his head on Tweek’s shoulder, the blonde threaded his finger through his lover’s dark locks. Craig hummed as he closed his eyes. With Tweek’s assistance he was maneuvered to resting his head on Tweek’s lap.

The blonde happily played with Craig’s hair, scratching and massaging his scalp. Before he knew it, Tweek could hear little snores coming from the boy. He smiled to himself gazing down at his lover. His tanned skin, his long lashes, the mole under his eye. Craig was beautiful. Tweek’s eyes caught a glimpse of the daisies sprouting out from the ground all over the place, when an idea popped in his head.

In a haste he plucked a couple of the pretty white flowers out the ground, before strategically placing the around Craig’s head. It wasn’t long before his dark hair was overrun with daisies. Tweek took a photo before Craig could protest, he was going to cherish this memory forever. He smiled at the photo, before placing it down to the side. Tweek looked up at the blue sky, the beaming sun, the rare quiet of South Park. He took a breath, the life that was in chaos not too long ago, seemed to have fallen back to harmonic order.

Just then Kenny came crashing down on to cupcakes Tweek had just spent hours working on. Tweek shielded Craig’s body with his own, trying to avoid waking the other in the process. Kenny turned to face Tweek, a ball in his hands. He apologized before running off as Stan shouted on him. Well you can’t ask for a sense of normality in South Park.

Tweek sighed before looking down at Craig once more. A few of the daisies crumbled under Tweek’s weight. The taller seemed to still be sound asleep.

Who needs normality, He’s got Craig.
