Summary
Aika Aihara has dedicated her life to her family orphanage, raising the children who pass through its doors. When a Hollow attack destroys the orphanage and claims her life, Aika finds herself in the Soul Society, struggling to settle into a world shaped by loss she has no way to leave behind.
When she comes face to face with the man she blames for her death, old wounds surface and carefully buried resentment comes with them. Through reluctant cooperation and an uneasy acquaintanceship, Aika is offered the chance to rebuild something resembling the life she lost.
Accepting help, however—especially from the person she holds responsible—proves far more complicated than either of them expects.
