Chapter Text
“Just… keep.. going..”
Martyn wasn’t sure how long he’d been walking in the dreary forest. He just knew it had been awhile and he was starting to get tired. He was used to walking long distances, sure, he had to do it frequently to support his lifestyle of constantly moving towns. Still, something about this particular trip was tiring to him. Maybe it had something to do with the fact he had fallen over and landed on his ankle weird a few days ago..
“..more trees.. more grass—”
His monotone observations were suddenly cut off by a gasp.
“A path!”
Maybe a bit of a dramatic reaction to seeing a path, but Martyn couldn’t help it. He’d been wandering for what felt like hours. Or days? He wasn’t quite sure.
“Which way do I go?”
After very little consideration, Martyn followed the main path and turned right, which very quickly proved to be the right decision.
“Wait, is that..? Is that a camp?”
Martyn’s pace seemed to pick up at the realisation of what lay ahead of him.. so much for being tired. As he got closer to his newfound destination, he became even more certain that this was what he was looking for.
“Oh my god, it is. Oh god.. t-there’ll be people..”
People.
The idea of people being there unsettled Martyn slightly. He didn’t trust people.
“..o-or there could be shelter, or.. I-I don’t know..”
Martyn was still walking towards the place, as hesitant as the thought of people made him. Why would there even be people here? What person would come to what seemed to be some kind of abandoned town? He’d probably just find shelter, and maybe some animals he could do with..
“I’m gonna have a look.”
He decided.
That was, as Martyn would realise much later, a terrible choice.
