Chapter Text

When he went on patrol with Tim earlier this was not how he expected to spend it. Now he was stuck with a clingy 1-year-old and covered in drool. Fuck his life. Honestly.

Jason stood next to the tied-up wizard dude while Tim handled the Commissioner. Trust him to get stuck babysitting the 3rd rate magic man. He toed the gravel, scuffing the edge of his boots and shoved his hands deep in his pockets. He was so bored. So very bored.

When he agreed to go on patrol with Tim to follow some lead the boy had, he expected action. Not a five minute barely counts as a fight since the guy went down with three hits. Too busy lost in his own head he didn’t notice the wizard wriggle his wand back into his hand. He glanced down just in time to see the guy mutter something and send a bolt of light towards the Commissioner. Luckily, he yelled at Tim just in time. He shoved Gordon out the way. Quick thinking on his part. But Tim got hit. There was a big puff of smoke and Jason rushed to Tim, letting the police wrangle the magic man.

Luckily, his helmet protected him from the smoke cloud, so he helped the Commissioner up before heading into the heart of the cloud. A small whimper caught his attention. The smoke had mostly cleared by now revealing… Ah fuck.

Tim was a baby. The Robin uniform was pooled round his small form and he whimpered again. Shit. Jason kneeled down and shrugged his jacket off, wrapping it round his little brother—his really little brother now. Baby Tim whined loudly as Jason scooped him up, his little hands scrabbling against his armoured chest and wriggling in his arms. He sighed, shifting the child but the cries only got louder till Tim fully threw himself out his brother’s arms. Only his lightning quick reflexes allowed him to catch Tim in time. The boy, however, was not having it. He threw himself on the ground and was on the verge of a meltdown. Jason turned around in a panic only to see the Commissioner staring back at him, his eyebrows rising into his hairline, which was really saying something since his hairline was receding.

Turning back to the now toddler Tim with a sigh, Jason reached up and popped the lock on his helmet, taking it off and tucking it under his arm. He bent down to Tim’s level and picked the boy up again. The cries immediately stopped and the boy whimpered softly before reaching at Jason and yanking on the stubborn white streak in his hair and squealing happily. Fuck that hurt. At least he stopped crying now.

Standing back up, Jason nodded at Gordon, letting him handle the magic man before grabbing the empty Robin suit and walking back over to his bike. He spared a glance at Tim’s bike but decided to leave it to Gordon. Bruce could pick it up later or something. Right now, he had to get back to the Cave and pray someone had a solution to this.

And that was how he ended up with baby Tim firmly stuck to his side. He wouldn’t even go to Alfred to let Jason change into something other than his armour. The boy had started to cry every time he was put down with a tearful whimper of Jason’s name. So, the older boy had to change while holding the younger boy. It was difficult to say the least.

Now he had a half-asleep baby against his chest and his older brother staring at him.

“For the last time, tell me what happened?”

He scoffed, “Fuck’s sake Dick. How many more times do I need to repeat it for you to understand the urgency of this situation? Timmy here got de-aged and nobody fuckin’ knows how to turn him back.” The boy in question shifted in Jason’s arms with a whimper, his hand tightening in the older boy’s shirt. “See Dickhead, you’re upsetting him.” Dick held his hands up placatingly, “I just want to understand so I know who to call, Little Wing.” Jason sighed, “Just call anyone of your magical friends. I know how many you have. I really don’t want to deal with a one-year-old any longer than I have to. He won’t even go to Alfred.” Dick looks chagrined and opens his mouth to speak before a sleepy voice interrupted,

“Jay…”

Jason’s head immediately snapped down to look at his the baby. Dick looked amused but let Jason soothe the little boy. “Looks like we know who Tim’s favourite sibling is.” Oh, Dick was definitely amused by this. Tucking the baby closer against his chest, Jason looked back up at his older brother with a raised eyebrow, “Gonna hurry up and find a solution Goldie?” Dick huffed softly in amusement, “Don’t worry Jay I’ll find someone to help”.

That was last night and God he was exhausted. He finally got Tim to sleep properly around 4am even though the boy was half asleep for hours before. Alfred tried to help him, but Tim would scream bloody murder every time Jason so much as set him down to grab something else. So yeah, he had a pounding headache on top of that.

Getting the wriggling baby into some old baby clothes Alfred had found was harder than it looked, so by the time he made it down to breakfast everyone was already there.

Fucking shit.

4 heads snapped to the doorways where he was. Thank God Bruce wasn’t there, and Dick had probably left last night. This morning? Jason didn’t know, nor did he care. He just wanted to get some coffee in his system and some food into Tim, so he’d stop fucking whimpering. He sighed again. He was doing a lot of that lately. He blatantly ignored his siblings’ gazes. Oh, and Steph was there. She didn’t even live in the Manor, but Jason had stopped questioning her presence long ago.

However, she was the first to speak up. He hadn’t even got his coffee yet. Damn it.

“So…. Dick said something happened on patrol last night. Uhm. Is that Tim?” She pointed at the sleepy child in the makeshift sling Jason had. Jesus Christ. He’d thought this was a family of detectives.

He sighed again, “Yeah. And what about it?” He did not mean to sound so grumpy but god fucking damn it he was tired and his head was hurting. Steph just raised her eyebrows and turned back to her cereal.

So, Jason got his coffee and plonked baby Tim into a highchair that Alfred had procured. Tim immediately pouted, his eyes watering till Jason sat next to him and started feeding him some porridge Alfred had also left. The boy quieted and started eating without further fuss. He could feel four sets of eyes burning into the back of his head, but he opted to ignore them. Till Cass stood up and made her way to the highchair and tentatively brushed Tim’s hair out his face. To Jason’s complete and utter surprise, Tim didn’t fuss and seemed to lean into her touch. “Tim. Small.” Cass’s soft voice broke his surprise. He nodded, “Last night there was some wizard dude. He was aiming for Gordon. Self-sacrificing idiot he is, Tim shoved him out the way and got hit instead. Now he’s stuck like this. And Dick has gone to find someone to turn him back. But the little sucker won’t let go of me. He’s cried every time I’ve put him down or tried to hand him off.”

Steph had perked up when he started to talk but Damian had simply scoffed, “Tt. How foolish of Drake. This is why I’m the superior Robin.” Tim did not like that and let out a loud cry before slamming his hand in some spilled porridge, splattering Jason’s face.

Great.

He suppressed a sigh and wiped his face before trying to feed the baby again. Tim simply turned his head to the side and pouted. God, Jason was trying so hard not to shake the child. It was Tim’s damn fault he got hit. Why was Jason stuck with the clingy one year old? The universe clearly hated him. He had no damn idea how to take care of children. He only remembered bits and pieces of his time in the League with Damian. Not that the League would be any damn help.

Jason decided to cut his losses early and started to clean up the mess Tim had made. It was just his luck that Bruce decided to resurface at that moment. Fun. Father and son paused and stared at each other before Tim made an indignant noise. Jesus, this little monster. Jason was so prepared to dump the baby with Bruce and escape. He really couldn’t miss anymore of his classes.

Bruce cleared his throat and Cass moved silently out the way so he could reach his sons. “Dick told me what happened. He also told me that Tim won’t let go of you. He was quite amused by it.”

Jason finished cleaning up the spilled porridge and nodded, “I really can’t miss my classes, but this chaos child whines every time I leave his reach. And he kept crying every time I closed my eyes.” This was probably the most normal conversation the two had had in a while. Which said a lot.

Bruce nods and before he can say anything else Duke piped up. “Just take him to class with you. He’ll probably sleep the whole time if he didn’t last night.” He had a shit-eating grin on his face and Jason was going to strangle the kid. Bruce looked pleased at that solution, “I’ll drive you, Jaylad”.

Yep. He was going to strangle the little shit.

Suppressing a groan, he got up and picked up Tim. “Fine. Just give me twenty minutes and tell Dickwad to hurry the fuck up and find a solution to this.”
