Top of my school

Summary:

What happens after the end of Parrots last episode? Does Theo live of die? Who will Parrot turn to in this time of need?

Notes:

Fic inspired by “top of my school” by Katherine Lynn-Rose. Parrot centric fic.

I know Theo is better than Flame in RL but this fic is based on UU and its lore so I will considering what has been said before in previous episodes of the series.

This is all platonic, feel free to leave kudos and comments which are very apreciated!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Most of the people lived the life that was presented to them, others just got by. Some others had never learnt what it meant to be driven, most didn't even try. The faces from the different and diverse people he met during his adventures popped into his mind, a soft delicate smile graced his face as he looked far off into the distance, trying to come up with something, anything to take down the Law.

But he knew what his heart desired, he wanted to lead with a passionate fire. He was aware of his reputation on the server, this was his chance to try and make the server peaceful, as much as he can anyways. Parrot knew he was destined to fly, even if he physically couldn't anymore.

The bird hybrid was determined, he would go all out and exhaust every plan and resource in order to bring LettuceK down, just like Spepticle predicted. Parrot was going to outdo all the rest of the candidates, he would settle for a second place again. He wouldn't stop until the Law was disassembled and the top members of it in prison, that was his main motivation at the minute.

Also the reason why he kept calm when Lettuce threatened him at the stage, in front of the whole server. He wouldn't flop, in fact, if the elections still continued Parrot was sure he would win instead of the lynx, the people of the server were no fools like the Law leader was making them to be.

But…

Without the elections, without a reason to fight who would be at his side? A face stood out on his mind, Theo. The cockatiel was the one who had been here this entire time and look where that got the other… If he wasn't at the top of the others among the debate then who would help him, who was another person he could trust and turn to in this time of need?

Heavy knocking on his door startled him, making him come around and stop dissociating. With a groan he neared the door of his potion shop, the bird hybrid hoped it wasn't the Law, the time to decide they had given him was nowhere done yet.

As soon as he opened the door a black and red blur pushed him inside quickly closing the door of the shop, no way this dumbass was here again, what did he want this time?

“Flame.” the parrot said, fingers going up to pinch his nose in irritation instinctively. “What are you doing here dude?”

“Parrot!” The demon hybrid exclaimed hurriedly, now that he took a good look at the other he noticed Flame was roughed up and somehow nervous? “Listen, I have a proposition for you.” He spoke, slower this time as he panted for air, he probably ran from the outside barrier to not risk anyone seeing him with Parrot.

The avian raised an eyebrow, “Really?”

“You remember what happened the last time we teamed up?” he said slowly to make sure the other understood, Parrot sounded so done with everything. He sighted, heavily considering to hear the other out. “Alrigth, what do you want Flame?”

The netherborn demon’s tail twitched as he cleared his voice, “I want Theo to train me…”

“What!?” Parrot exclaimed loudly, quieting down after the younger one shushed him, “Dude, you are better than Theo are you not?”

“That is in sword bro, and we are not even that far apart,” Parrot hummed as the other continued explaining, “I want him to train me in carting! I'm good but Theo is like, way better at that than me bro.” Flame said, face flushing as he admitted he could be better and that he wasn't as strong as he could be. It felt like a strange sense of vulnerability that didn't surround the two of them since long, long ago in the past.

“Thats great and all, “ The parrot hybrid spoke carefully, “Theo is not here tho. He was captured by the Law bro.”

Flame scoffed at the reminder, “Bro! I already know that, if you like, let me get to the point you would understand bro!”

Parrot scoffed himself but stayed silent, groaning inside when he saw Flame’s little triumphant grin, “What I'm saying is like- I help you get Theo out of prison. You get your friend back and I get trained on carting,” A moment of silence echoed between both of them, “ what do you think bro? Is it a deal?” the demon extended his hand already, knowing it was an offer the other couldn't refuse.

His past friend would say he showed too much enthusiasm as he searched for the completion of his objectives, they constantly reminded him that he was trying too hard, that it would all lead to nothing and everything he has done on his time on this server would be for nothing.

Theo was a little different though. After a really needed deep talk about, honestly everything. The other had taken to encourage Parrot, telling him to do whatever his heart told him to do, and it was true. Parrot now understood, everyone else will just have to learn what it was to be jealous as they watched Parrot shine bright after he finally let go of worries and past grievances.

Because he knew what his heart was telling him to do, but that didn't mean the doubts inside his own head disappeared, no, those became worse. Because what if didn't manage to save Theo? What if he couldn't manage to give back to the people?

What would Theo think of him?

But if he didn't manage to save the cockatiel now then when? He needed to go all out again, just now he told himself but he knew it wasn't true. “On one condition, though.” Parrot said after a moment of thought, making Flame groan and drop the hand he was holding out. “Alrigth what is it bro?”

“Theo has to be the one to decide if he actually trains you or not,” He cleverly stated, and reached out with a hand to seal the deal, except this time it was him not Flame. “It is his domain after all, no?”

“Alright bro, but if he doesn't agree to train me you will owe me a lesson, is that chill?”

“Yeah, I can agree with that.” Parrot said with a smile on his face that mirrored Flame’s, as he shook his hand sealing their little deal.

Notes:

When Parrot says: “He wouldn't settle for a second place ever again.” I thought of it like he was referring to way back at the Mafia you know, or maybe even paragon. But who knows what this bird was meaning? I don't.
