Summary
After Vox’s failed attempt to take over Heaven ended in the death of him and his comrades at the hands of the lieutenant of Heaven’s exorcist army, Alastor is left grappling with the guilt of whether he truly could or could not blame himself for the events that had entailed.
He was free from his shackles and yet he couldn’t help but wonder if Vox had ever meant anything to him— if he was capable of love in the way everyone in The Hotel seemed to be.
“Fucking demon filth.” Echoed the exorcist angel, her face full of disgust for the wretched sinners she viewed as directly below her. She flailed her sword around her hand, making it dance like a conductor’s baton. “Now it’s time you die.”
Alastor cursed himself, thinking out in his head what could have been changed for this to not be the outcome. He had assumed he had it all under control and yet— yet this was where they were now, and Alastor wondered deep down if this circumstance was his fault.
or: author’s barely disguised favoritism for lute and needing her to have a win and needing for alastor to suffer with his asexuality the way the author does
