Summary
Less than seventy years ago, Vox and Alastor had made a drunken deal. It had been seven years since Alastor had made an appearance in Hell, Vox’s soul was still owned by Alastor despite that absence.
Vox had no intentions of breaking free, he just wished he had gotten some acknowledgment before Alastor had left, some acknowledgment that wouldn’t have left him feeling so discarded and useless.
Vox constantly thought back to his bare nights with Alastor, his absence having him ponder on whether they had ever meant anything to the Radio Demon.Vox had never done much in those moments, not much but shut his eyes and let his body rest against Alastor’s, holding him tightly unless his hands were being held back by restraints.
And it wasn’t like Alastor ever allowed him to do much but writhe and pull himself closer— Alastor had enjoyed being the one so mercilessly breaking Vox and Vox had derived pleasure from being completely used by the one he utterly devoted himself to.
intimacy was an odd word to describe what they once shared. but it still somehow fit the two explicitly well.

Summary
After Vox’s failed attempt to take over Heaven ended in the death of him and his comrades at the hands of the lieutenant of Heaven’s exorcist army, Alastor is left grappling with the guilt of whether he truly could or could not blame himself for the events that had entailed.
He was free from his shackles and yet he couldn’t help but wonder if Vox had ever meant anything to him— if he was capable of love in the way everyone in The Hotel seemed to be.
“Fucking demon filth.” Echoed the exorcist angel, her face full of disgust for the wretched sinners she viewed as directly below her. She flailed her sword around her hand, making it dance like a conductor’s baton. “Now it’s time you die.”
Alastor cursed himself, thinking out in his head what could have been changed for this to not be the outcome. He had assumed he had it all under control and yet— yet this was where they were now, and Alastor wondered deep down if this circumstance was his fault.
or: author’s barely disguised favoritism for lute and needing her to have a win and needing for alastor to suffer with his asexuality the way the author does
