So, hi. You’re probably here for one of two reasons;
1. You know me or Solar Flare somehow and we told you our fic was uploaded here
2. You saw this in one of the fandom tags and couldn’t pass up whatever Jevil/Leshy means.
Either way you’re very welcome and I’m happy you're here.
When a lot of people upload big crossovers that may also be chatfics they tend to be kind of hard to read without background information or extensive authors’ notes that many authors do not take the time to write because well… it’s usually crackfic.
This isn’t crackfic anymore. It was supposed to be when me and Solar Flare started it in April of 2025. But it isn’t anymore. We have a 33,000 word rough draft to edit now with outlines for the story continuing after. 33k words of chatfic. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
For the short version: You need to know COTL’s story, you need to know Jevil lore, any amount of Seuss knowledge that is conceivable for someone from an english-speaking country is fine, and you need to know what happened to Bill Cipher after gravity falls.
Long version+Headcanon explanation:
1. Cult of the Lamb
COTL’s story is the only one that takes a leading role in the story of the fic and it’s also not very well explained and that’s completely on me honestly I couldn’t figure out how to explain it without making characters give obvious exposition. And I did fix it, promise, the bishops are not dying.
Also I made Shamura more coherent and empathetic than they are ingame because it’s a lot easier to be articulate/appear aware of your surroundings when you can reread what just happened and I think they’re probably more chill with their siblings/friends.
Also-also the crowns all have animal forms and can talk like the red crown is shown to.
2. Deltarune
The story that happens onscreen in Deltarune doesn’t happen during this fic (the entire thing is pre-canon) but you do need basic knowledge of the lore for a good amount of scenes to make sense. Jevil’s character in this fic (which is important to the story) is also based off of Solar Flare's extensive analysis of him which she has spent a significant amount of time explaining to me so uh… Go reread all of Seam’s dialogue or something
3. Seussical/general Seuss knowledge
Okay quick justification for these characters’ inclusion
1. This fic was supposed to be crack
2. We started working on this fic a few weeks after tech week for the production of Seussical we were in which was my first ever musical and it rewired our brains to experience that
3. Some of these characters have been turned halfway into OCs with the amount of headcanons involved in turning them into characters that function in a character driven story
First, actual Seussical characters The Cat in the Hat and Jojo. They’re so similar to their musical counterparts it’s crazy. So insane. Really. Anyway this is Seussical post-canon and Jojo has been adopted by Cat and also come out as nonbinary, and I reshuffled Cat to make him a little more responsible because he straight up has two children (also the things exist I guess). Also Jojo is written as autistic and Cat is written as having adhd on purpose now. Solar Flare knows more about the books than I do and so there’s things from those included as well.
Cat in the Hat Jr (usually written as CJ in the fic) is technically a book character but his existence is elite ball knowledge and he’s also a non-character originally. Solar Flare made him into a fun character I really like CJ. Also he doesn’t have a mom. He was asexually created via Thinks and is best described as a magical construct.
Fish and the Things are pretty much how they are in the books/cartoon. Thing 1 actually figured out how to communicate through text whereas Thing 2 didn't care to. Also we made Cat and Fish have this almost like rivals to lovers yaoi dynamic (that never progresses) because it’s really funny
4. Gravity Falls
You don’t need very in depth knowledge of the story of the show because post-canon Bill is the only Gravity Falls character involved. He does have a lot of screentime though and the Book of Bill and Journal 3 are both references Solar Flare used writing him. Some stuff he does might not make a lot of sense if you don’t know the lore. He is intended to be very canon compliant.
And once it shows up…
5. Battle for Dream Island (BFDIA and TPOT show up separately)
Honestly you only really need to know the premise of the show and some basic knowledge of the algebraliens and freesmart dynamics but it’s well explained enough I’m not sure if you even need that. (Also for people who /have not watched bfdi/ to clarify, there are two BFDI universes involved here. One of them is BFDIA era dynamics in a humanized highschool au. The other is TPOT canon compliant.)
This fic eventually turned however, into something that’s followable without in-depth knowledge of the source materials. Proceed however you like.
