Work Text:
Valentine's Day.
Before, Akito used to scoff at the storefronts, drenched in sickening pinks and reds, rolling his eyes at every lovey-dovey couple. He would only ever brighten at the sight of discount prices tacked onto all the leftover sweets.
Now, he's far more excited than he ever was.
Toya approached him at school with a smile, promising a gift. He insisted on handing it to Akito in private, which was more than fine with him. He gets easily flustered when Toya showers him in love, so saving that until they're alone spares him the embarrassment. And he gets to thoroughly kiss Toya in thanks.
Toya, the honest menace that he is, failed to consider the effect his words would have on Akito. For the entire school day, Akito couldn't focus at all, mind racing with all the possibilities of whatever the hell Toya wanted to give him in private. An made sure to tease him about how spaced out he was, as if she was any better. When she wasn't teasing, she was yapping about the date she had planned with Kohane, gloating proudly about securing the limited edition Valentine's Phenny plushie and keychain.
The only thing she did for it was beg Kamishiro to bring her the merch, instead of waiting in queues at the park like everyone else. Though entering the devil's deal by asking Kamishiro for anything is probably far more torturous.
Once the school bell signals the end of the lessons, Akito rushes out of his seat to get to Toya's classroom. He can hear An's teasing laugh behind him, but the fact that she's hot on his heels to leave makes her a hypocrite.
He gets to Toya's classroom in record time, much to the amusement of Akiyama. He ignores her comments in favour of taking Toya's hand into his own and dragging him towards the shoe lockers.
“You're in quite the rush,” Toya chuckles. Akito can never tell if he's just oblivious, or if he realized the effect he has on Akito and is acting on purpose.
“I couldn't stop thinkin’ ‘bout whatcha have planned,” He admits, “Dontcha realize how excited ya've made me?” He asks, toeing off his shoes and chucking them into his locker.
“Ah. I apologize for distracting you during class.” Toya changes his shoes in a much quieter, calmer manner, and even though Akito can't see him, he can hear the smile in his voice. “I guess I have no choice but to go over the material with you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, ya better.” He tugs impatiently on his shoelaces, tangling them into the messiest bows he’s ever seen, then slings his backpack over his shoulder and bounds over to Toya's locker. “C'mon, let's go.”
He gives Toya a second to grab his messenger bag, before he takes his hand again and pulls him towards the exit. He feels Toya's amused gaze on him, but he can tell Toya is excited too, with the way his fingers tighten around Akito's.
The way to Akito's house is filled with a sea of red, pink and brown; vibrant shades and pastel hues all blend together as they pass storefront after storefront, hearts and ribbons decorating every possible bit of space. The walk back has never felt longer as they navigate the crowds full of lovesick couples. Akito used to wince at those people, but now, with Toya's hand in his, he’s no better than any of them. Well, he is slightly better, because he's not shoving his tongue down Toya's throat in public.
They reach his house after far too long. In an incredibly fortunate twist of events, they pass Ena in the entryway, on her way to a date with Akiyama. She doesn't comment on how fast he got home, he doesn't mention how she checks her hair in the mirror every five seconds. Akito quickly removes his jacket and shoes, waiting for Toya to do the same, then they can finally, after so long, get to the privacy of Akito's bedroom.
Akito drops down onto his bed, moving to lean against the wall, with a curious, eager look directed at Toya. What on Earth did he prepare?
Toya smiles at him, then pulls out a pink, heart-shaped box from his bag.
“I made you some chocolates.” Akito nods his head, prompting him to continue. He's been warned to avoid SEKAI a few times, and he worries who exactly helped Toya with them. “MEIKO-san was kind enough to help me prepare them.”
Akito lets out a sigh of relief. He heard about last year's cupcake fiasco, and he never thought he'd feel bad for Kamishiro, of all people, but he couldn't help wince when he was told of his unfortunate fate. Miku should be banned from the kitchen, really, but MEIKO is determined to steer her cooking “abilities” into something that doesn't land people in the hospital. So far, she hasn't succeeded.
“Don't worry, I wouldn't have let Miku help. I learned my lesson,” Toya chuckles, walking over to get on the bed and straddle Akito's lap.
“Thanks. ‘M glad you don't wanna poison me.” Akito searches Toya's face for an inkling of whatever the hell he has planned. He still hasn't been handed the box, and surely Toya didn't wanna be in private just to give him some chocolates.
“Of course. You're my beloved partner, after all,” Akito can't even worry about the blush that spreads on his face from the open affection, because Toya is finally opening the box. “They're made with milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and I've used a few fruits to balance out the flavour. There's orange zest and lemon zest with the milk chocolate, and candied strawberries and candied raspberries with the dark chocolate. Which one would you want to try first?”
“Whoa, these look professional,” Akito praises. The chocolates are decorated with the fruit, and they seem to be of identical, spherical shape. Of course, Toya made sure that they're nothing but perfect. “Can I try the orange one?” He asks, looking at Toya. There has to be something else to it, even if Akito can't tell what, and that's the only reason why he's not reaching for the chocolate himself.
“Thank you, and of course.” Toya's slim, slender fingers pluck one of the chocolates out of the box. Then, Toya places the box to the side.
Akito's about to break and ask Toya to tell him about whatever the hell he planned, because he's mildly confused and far too excited to take this any longer, but Toya answers his question before he can even ask.
Toya leans in close, a small smile on his lips, then puts the chocolate in his mouth and kisses Akito.
Holy shit.
This isn't at all what he expected, and he can only melt into the wall as Toya licks across his lips. Akito realizes that oh, he's asking for permission, and lets Toya deepen the kiss. Toya presses him even further into the wall, hands tangling in his hair, as the chocolate is pushed into his mouth by Toya's tongue.
The sound he makes at the sensation is embarrassing, a high-pitched whine that's muted by Toya's lips on his. It's dizzyingly sweet, especially when Toya doesn't pull away, his tongue curiously moving across Akito's palate. This should be gross and disgusting, and if he saw someone else doing this he'd certainly use those words; but nothing about Toya can ever be disgusting, especially when more and more heat gathers in his abdomen with each passing second. The chocolate is delicious, this feels surprisingly good, and if his body hasn't been turned to goo with a single kiss, he'd be pulling Toya closer and not letting go.
Toya suddenly breaks away. Another pathetic whine leaves Akito's throat, and he can only stare at Toya's chocolate-covered lips and think about how much he wants to kiss the stains off.
“Did you not like it?” Toya pants out, face dropping into a frown. He looks like a kicked puppy, and Akito's not gonna tolerate that when Toya just kissed his brains out.
“Wha?” Is the most coherent response he can give, heavily swallowing the lingering sweetness. His brain's turned into melted chocolate, and he really needs it to function properly, because Toya's upset.
“I wanted to try doing something new, to make it extra special to Akito. But you barely reacted, so I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable.” Toya looks to the side in guilt.
Akito blinks at Toya, once, twice. The hell's he saying? That was the hottest thing Toya ever did to him. He swallows again, trying to form a more eloquent response.
“You surprised me, ‘s all,” He manages to get out. Fuck, he wants Toya to kiss him like that again, and again, and again, until nothing but Toya's sugary sweetness is left on his tongue. “I liked it. A lot. Too much, probably,” He admits, flushing a deep red.
Toya still looks unsure, fingers fidgeting with the edge of his sleeve.
“Kiss me again,” Akito demands, “I wanna try the lemon one. Now that I expect it, I'm gonna give ya a better response.” Now that he knows what Toya is doing, he's not going to let himself short circuit and freeze. “'Sides, you kissed me so good I shut down. You should be proud of being that good of a kisser,” He adds on, which thankfully makes Toya's lips curve up.
“I did do that, didn't I?” Toya turns to the side to pick out a lemon chocolate from the box. An excited shiver runs through Akito's body, skin prickling with anticipation.
He waits until Toya leans in close, then kisses him before he can pop the chocolate into his mouth. Toya lets out a surprised hum, then kisses back. Akito puts his hands on Toya's waist, thumbs sneaking under the hem of his pants to untuck his shirt. As he licks across Toya's lips, he starts rubbing circles into the skin right above Toya's hip bones. Toya parts his lips, playfully pushing his tongue against Akito's. They stay like this for a moment more, before Toya pulls away.
“Wanted to make sure the orange flavour won't mix with the lemon.” He grins at Toya, who shakes his head, blue strands tickling Akito's face.
“Of course.” Toya totally doesn't believe him, but Akito doesn't care.
He watches as Toya puts the chocolate in his mouth, and before Toya can hesitate, he pulls him closer. Toya smiles into the kiss, and Akito parts his lips in invitation. The sensation of Toya's tongue pushing into his mouth is electrifying, but no longer paralyzing; he brushes his tongue against Toya's, tasting the delicious sweet chocolate and sour lemon, made even better by the feeling of Toya's tongue against his. The chocolates seem to melt quick, and he’s gonna have to ask Toya if that was his whole plan.
Toya pulls away to catch his breath. Akito tries to chase after his lips, but a hand on his shoulder stops him in his tracks. He licks the chocolate off his lips, watching Toya intently.
“Please wait a moment. I'm going to get some tissues, my fingers got dirty from the chocolate.” Toya lifts his other hand, as if to prove his words true.
“No need.” Akito grabs his wrist before he can move and brings his hand to his lips. “Wouldn't wanna waste any chocolate,” He murmurs against Toya's thumb, then kisses off the chocolate mark. He dutifully moves on to his index finger, then kisses the remaining three just because he can.
“Aren't I supposed to be treating you?” Toya asks with an amused huff, as the tips of his ears turn to the same pink color as the box.
“‘S not worth wipin' the delicious chocolate into a tissue.” Akito moves his lips down to kiss Toya's palm. “How'd ya make ‘em?”
“I mostly followed a recipe, though I asked MEIKO-san for help with the texture. I wanted them to be soft, and I'm really happy that I achieved that effect.” Toya smiles in that adorable, self-satisfied way, and Akito can only smile back.
“I had a feelin' you made ‘em to melt easily,” He comments. It seems like Toya did, in fact, plan every little bit of this. For how innocent he looks, he can sure act like the devil. “Can I try ‘nother one?”
“Which one?” Toya's hand hovers above the open box. He still hasn't tried either of the dark chocolate ones, with strawberry and raspberry.
Akito takes a moment to think. “Dunno. Surprise me?” He was most interested in the citrus flavours, so now he's not sure which one to pick.
“Of course. Cover your eyes?” Toya asks, and Akito does as he's told.
He can feel the slightest dip in the mattress as Toya leans to the side to pick a chocolate. He can tell when Toya straightens up, his weight evenly spread on Akito’s lap, and he feels him shift forward. Then Toya's lips are on his, softer than ever, and his tongue is pushing inside, hotter than ever. Another embarrassing, muffled sound leaves Akito’s throat. This is far more intense than any of their previous kisses, as if his senses were dialed up by a hundred. He supposes it makes sense, since he's still covering his eyes, and he can feel Toya’s chilly hands gently cover his own.
He does his best to drag his mushy brain back to functionality. Toya is kissing him, and he's supposed to guess the flavour of the chocolate. Toya's tongue is distracting, impossibly hot, curiously moving around his mouth in a way that sends shivers up his spine. He pushes back against it with his own, tasting the flavour it carries. Bitter with a sweet tartness — has to be raspberry. Now that that's figured out, he can go back to doing his best to kiss Toya back despite how strong every sensation is right now, how much he sinks into the wall. Everything is so much, the contrasting temperatures of Toya's hands and tongue, the wet, slick noises of their kiss, the weight of Toya in his lap, trapping him in place.
He abruptly pulls his hands away to break away from the kiss, chest heaving. Any more of that and he might've ended up losing his mind.
“How was that?” Toya asks, genuinely or purposefully oblivious to how much he just blew Akito's mind.
Akito doesn't answer instantly, swallowing heavily. His brain's as soft as the melty center of Toya's chocolates. He gives Toya a look asking for a minute to gather himself. Toya's lips quirk up in amusement, but he mercifully stays silent.
“Fuck,” He finally pants out, “That was so good.”
“The kiss or the chocolate?” Toya has to be doing this on purpose.
“Oi, ya know I mean both.” Akito retaliates by flicking him on the forehead. Toya giggles at the gesture and takes his raised hand to press a kiss to his knuckles. “Also, raspberry, right?”
“Yes, that was raspberry. Good job, Akito,” Toya praises, smile bright and eyes shining, and Akito feels his blush deepen. Fuck, he's so pathetic, getting worked up about praise for guessing a flavour right.
“Yeah, yeah,” He mumbles out, “Can I try the last one?” He licks his lips, then swallows again.
“Are you sure you're ready for it?” Toya asks with a familiar innocence, one that Akito still can't wholly decipher. Despite his words, Toya picks out a strawberry-covered chocolate.
“You're teasin’ me,” Akito accuses, taking Toya's free hand into one of his own.
“Am I?” It's that same innocence again, and before Akito can reply, Toya pops the chocolate into his mouth and swoops in for a kiss.
At this point, it's a familiar exchange; Akito parts his lips, while Toya pushes the half-melted chocolate into his mouth. The bitter and sweet flavours are only enhanced by Toya's tongue dragging against his own, and Akito puts his free hand on the back of Toya's head to make sure he can't pull away anytime soon. Toya seems to have nothing against that; quite the opposite, as he shifts even closer, his forearm landing on the wall next to Akito's head. Akito hums in approval, and feels Toya shiver against him at the sensation. Akito keeps lazily moving against Toya, who responds in kind; but the burning sensation in his lungs comes far too soon for his liking. He ignores it for a few more seconds, unwilling to let go of the delightful, delicious, electrifying sensation, until Toya pulls away with a wet sound that echoes around the room.
They're both panting heavily, and their lips are smeared with chocolate, and Akito can't help the wild grin that appears on his face.
“Feel free to have the rest of these whenever you want,” Toya says after a few moments, face still flushed a beautiful pink.
“And if I wanna have ‘em with you?” Akito asks. There's no way he can enjoy these alone anymore.
“It appears I've created a monster,” Toya chuckles, rich and warm like the lingering chocolate taste. “I wouldn't mind, though if you don't want to eat any more today, I'd love to brush my teeth.” There's a slight wince as he speaks, and right, Toya hates sugary sweets. With how eagerly he kissed, that little fact slipped Akito's mind.
“‘Course, go ahead. Mine's the orange one.” Akito waves his hand encouragingly. They're not at the stage where Toya keeps toiletries here yet, and after the messy, sloppy kisses they just shared, using the same toothbrush is nothing.
“Thank you, Akito,” Toya smiles and climbs off his lap to head to the bathroom.
“I should be the one thankin’ you,” Akito calls out, stopping Toya in his tracks. “I loved it. The chocolates're delicious, and, uh.” He rubs his neck. “I really liked how ya kissed me.”
“Of course. I'm happy you liked it.” With that, Toya hurries out of his bedroom.
Akito's left alone with a sugary taste on his lips and a racing mind. This was easily the best gift Toya ever gave him, and he's gonna have to make sure his return gift on White Day is good enough to repay Toya with.
That, and he's gonna have to upstage Toya somehow next year, when it's his turn to gift during Valentine's.
Huh. Maybe he likes Valentine's Day more than he thought.
