   Summary

   Picture this: 3 a.m., mall parking lot rooftop, 2008. Sirens fade after Nicole and Jecka flee a disastrous house party. Nicole’s revenge—catfishing the football captain with fake nudes and leaking his dick pics, blew up. A video of her screaming at Brittany spreads on flip phones. Jecka’s grounded for driving the getaway car.

   Drunk and high on stolen vodka and Emily’s pills, Nicole mutters, mascara streaked, “We should just jump. Save ourselves three more years of hell.”
   Jecka laughs—dead serious. “Nah. We survive to graduation. No solo exits. No killing ourselves or each other. We win. We get to figure out what the fuck this is.”
   Crumpled Walmart receipt. Lipstick signature. Heart crossed into middle finger: no solo attempts, tell the other first, breaker gets mocked in hell forever.
   Nicole teeters on the ledge. Jecka yanks her back. “Dramatic bitch.” Tally one.
   They crash in Jecka’s car under one blanket. Nicole rests her head on Jecka’s shoulder “because it’s cold, shut up.”

   Fourteen months.
   One pact.
   Zero solo exits.
   And one fucking terrifying question neither will say out loud:

   what if we actually make it?
