Professional ice hockey player Shane Hollander of the Ottawa Centaurs is once again making the Twitter trending feed as pictures of him at the X-Squad: Origins movie premiere continue to flood the internet. The NHL star is accompanying lead actress, Rose Landry, as her plus one to the event. For those of you who are new around here and don’t know what this means, allow me to be your primary source.
Back in 2016, the pair—affectionately dubbed Hollandry by fans—took the respective hockey and acting spheres by storm when they hard-launched their very unexpected relationship. At the time, Shane Hollander was the captain for the Montreal Metros, and a notoriously private homebody. While the rest of the Metros were forever cropping up at bars and clubs and events across North America, Shane Hollander dutifully maintained his status as Canada’s well-behaved Golden Boy. Rose Landry had several dating rumours in the early 2010s, but nothing quite as concrete as showing up to a Montreal game in Hollander’s jersey.
The relationship only lasted a few months, with Hollander and Landry amicably going their separate ways in early 2017, but they have remained friends and continue to follow one another on socials to this day. Some fans find their friendship off-putting, with one user suggesting it might be a PR move on their agents’ part. Others might dare to speculate about whether or not there are still sparks between Hollander and Landry 👀.
Most, however, are just happy to see that the two continued their friendship. Rose Landry was an active and loud supporter of Shane Hollander after he and his husband, Ilya Rozanov, were outed via FanMail. Hollander’s involvement in tonight’s premiere was organised by Landry herself.
