May is probably Ravi's favorite Grant.
He can't deny it.
Genuinely.
"So, you like her, but you keep sitting in silence?" sighs Eddie as he narrows his eyes on him.
"Look, she's amazing. Truly," replies Ravi seriously as he focuses on the bar in his hands as Eddie spots him. "But I am firmly in the friendzone, and I'm not going to overstep and lose it all."
"How are you brave enough to be a firefighter but not to ask out the woman you like?" asks Eddie with a snort as he shakes his head. "This is one time where I'm going to tell you that taking a chance is the best move you could make. Ask her out."
"Ask who out?"
Ravi freezes, arms shaking lightly from exertion as his head snaps to the side to see May standing there in a cropped plaid sweater and jean shorts.
Her tone was icy, her eyes are narrowed, and yet he can't help but think she looks beautiful.
"Why do you sound mad that I'm telling Ravi to ask a woman out?" asks Eddie curiously as he tips his head to the side.
Ravi forces the bar up and into place before carefully sitting himself up, grabbing the towel to clear his hands and forehead.
"I'm not mad, just curious," her voice is pointedly cool, and Eddie snorts. "Shut up, Diaz. But you should totally ask out the woman you're interested in Ravi. Anyone would be lucky to have an amazing guy like you."
"And yet you're upset that I brought it up," mutters Eddie as he walks away.
"Shut it, Diaz," hollers May in irritation as she turns to glare at his back.
"You did seem jealous though," says Ravi quietly as he leans forward. "Not that you have any reason to be, at least not that I'm aware of."
"Yeah? Well, maybe I have a reason that you're not aware of," replies May sweetly as she dips her head forward.
"Wanna share?" asks Ravi as he tips his head to the side.
"Well, maybe I'd like to be the one you're going to ask out," replies May as she arches a brow at him, her lips twitching.
She looks nervous.
"Princess," murmurs Ravi as he looks at her, then he scoots forward, letting their noses brush. "You are, but I wasn't going to ask because I don't deserve you."
"Yeah? Ask me anyway," replies May quietly.
"Will you go on a date with me, May Grant?" asks Ravi as he knocks their noses together gently.
"I'd love to," replies May as she crouches down with a soft smile. "How soon can we go?"
"Well, I technically can go right now, if you can," says Ravi with a grin.
"Let's do it," replies May as she reaches out his hand.
So, Ravi takes her hand, stands, and intertwines their fingers.
He's taking her on a date because he's technically off right now because it's a split shift for him.
