It was the same cycle every day, every week, every month, and well, you get the meaning. Admiring his laughter, the pure joy of Aiden’s smile, the way his eyes always sparkled with mischief. All that was endearing to Tyler. And repeat.
He once despised Aiden, he despised his loud antics, his never ending energy and his stupid actions. But over the time, gradually, Tyler had began to notice the way his stomach fluttered with butterflies, the way he’d unconsciously smile at Aiden’s ‘stupid’ actions and dumb jokes.
Of course, Tyler, being the stubborn and hot-headed guy he is, the brunette refused to accept his feelings for the loud blond at first. But it reached a point where he no longer could resist the temptation to want to hold Aiden’s hand, to brush the stray lock of hair away from his face.
But even then, even when Tyler accepted his growing feelings for the other, he knew he had to bury it. Because he knew, everyone knew, that Aiden liked Ashlyn. How could he, someone so…so ordinary, compare to the ginger? She was independent, hardworking, caring. She knew how to make Aiden happy, she caught Aiden attention so effortlessly.
He yearned to be the one who made the blond smile, laugh. He wanted to be the one that made Aiden’s eyes beam with delight and be the one that Aiden could annoy as much as Tyler found it irritating. Tyler wanted it that much, so much, he yearned for Aiden, yet, the blond was always out of reach. Just a brush away, just centimetres away but he felt he were miles ahead.
But he could only dream about the idiot being his. Aiden was too lovestruck for Ashlyn, too down bad.
.
.
The blond was passing by then saw Tyler lost in thought.
‘Half-wit is zoned out? He always is, stupid. I wonder what he’s thinking about? Probably something idiotic’.
At this thought, Aiden snickered to himself and crept behind Tyler. Tiptoeing like he was about to commit some sought of robbery. He saw Tyler looking into the distance and took this as a chance to scare him.
‘Now? Yeah, now. His reaction will be priceless’
Aiden pounced on him, making both him and Tyler topple over like some human domino chain, except with only two of them (I’m so funny hahaha laugh guys). The brunette fell flat on his stomach and the blond bursted out laughing into Tyler’s shoulder, tears almost forming.
“Puh- what the hell Aiden?” Tyler shouted, trying to push the laughing boy off him.
But a part of him didn’t want to, he liked the proximity, how close they were. But it was also nerve-wracking. He could smell the faint scent of laundry wash scent and the smell of cologne Tyler had reluctantly gifted him for Christmas.
His brown, tan-skinned face blossomed with red, the tip of his ears becoming warm.
“Get off me moron! You’re so heavy!”
Aiden was still laughing when he rolled off.
“Your reaction was gold! oh my god I would pay to see that face again!”
“Idiot what was that for?” Tyler exclaimed, exasperated.
“For fun, what else. Y’know you’re my favorite to tease.” he joked wiggling his brows
The blond had said so genuinely Tyler almost blushed again.
“Don’t say stupid things like that, asshole. What do you want?”
“You wound me Ty Ty, how cold.”
Aiden feigned hurt, but his eyes betrayed his words. He also used the nickname Tyler hates (no Tyler does not) just to piss him off even more, for shits and giggles I suppose.
“I can see right through your acts I’m not dense like someone.”
“Who, me? Would’ve never guessed~” he giggled in a sing-song voice.
Tyler sat up, brushing dirt off his clothes. His deep brown eyes glared daggers into the vibrant red contacts. Aiden didn’t break eye contact, but something flickered in his eyes. Before the brunette could grasp the change, it had disappeared into the usual playful one.
He suddenly thought something, what if he asked Aiden to hangout? Maybe then, Tyler could grow closer to Aiden, maybe just maybe. A spark of courage kindled in his heart.
“Hey Aiden, do you maybe wanna ha-“
Aiden interrupted him.
“Hey look! It’s Ash! See you later Tyler!”
The gleeful boy ran off to Ashlyn, leaving Tyler, who forced a smile.
“Mhm, yeah go ahead.”
