Mr. Vlad Whitaker

Summary:

After sniffing out a simply wonderful scent, Dennis can’t help but follow the trail- which leads him to an old friend.

Chapter Text

Dennis, along with some of the other pittlings, are on a night stroll after a hard shift at the Pitt. There had been multiple deaths that day- meaning a lot of blood, meaning Dennis’s fangs and stomach were aching in hunger.

It’s a busy night on the street, many groups of drunk college kids and adults stumbling about. Dennis and his friends pay them no mind, at least until something catches his attention.

The most enticing scent he’s ever smelt fills his nostrils, softly and slowly, approaching with nothing but comfort, filling him with a lust he hadn’t felt in years- not since her. Not since Erin.

He stumbles on his next step a little bit as he whips his head around to try and find the culprit to this beautiful scent, maybe a slayer trying to lure him out. Had they finally found him?

A quick glance down the street wasn’t enough to find the person, but his stumble had already caught the attention of those around him- he struggled a bit to adjust his bag, before fumbling an excuse about his bladder and needing to find a toilet to try and track the scent.

He walks as quick as he can, till he reaches the corner of a building. Stopping, he sniffs the air again to get a sense of direction before starting again.

It leads him to a lone man- tall, taller than Dennis at least. Shaggy black hair framing a pale face, which itself is marked with its own eye bags. Not like Dennis’s, not ones you’re born with, ones gained from little sleep.

Something about this man seems familiar. So familiar, in fact, that Dennis can’t help but keep following him.

All the way home.

He follows far behind as the man enters a dimly lit hallway leading to an array of apartments, follows as he unlocks door 113, but stays outside as the man enters. Vampires aren’t allowed entry without permission.

He quickly turns back towards the entrance of the apartment building, rushing to the alley outside and flying to the mans window.

He sees something that makes him gasp in remembrance.

The same dark walls, the same beautiful drawings- well, back in Stokely they actually used to be more kiddy, but now they had the work of an experienced adult - and the same man. Robin, sitting on the bed.

Sucking in a breath, he pulls his phone out of his pocket to check the time. 7:30. It was winter time, which was why Dennis was safely walking outside, but he should still text Santos and tell her he might be a little… late… getting home tonight.

He floats back to the ground to do just that, before stumbling back up to door 113.

He knocks.

He waits.

He waits some more,

He knocks again.

And he waits a little more, before

The door opens, revealing the most beautiful boy in the world. His old best friend, Robin.

“Um, hello.” Robin looks quite confused. Dennis would be too, a random man, dressed in scrubs and tired as hell, knocking on your door at 7:30 at night.

“Hello. I’m…” Dennis pauses, considering his next few words. He has two options here- starting anew, as the new and improved Dennis Whitaker persona which he’d personally made 7 years ago, and start over with his best friend. Or, he could go back. He could go back to being Vladimir ‘Vlad’ Dracula, and possibly restore said friend’s memories. Though Robin could get very mad if he remembered what Dennis had done all those years ago.

“..I’m Vlad Whitaker. Sorry, it’s just.. I got a but lost, and I really needed the loo. I just got off my first day as a doctor here,” he had taken his badge off early, tucking it away in his bag for safe keeping. “And I saw this is the nearest place that looked like the people inside wouldn’t kill me.. and I saw you just entering your apartment. Sorry if this is weird.”

He hopes that explanation does it, acting scared, like it’s his first day at a new place and he just really needed the loo. He’d get an invite in, and he’d get an in to talk to his best friend again.

“Oh, yeah, sure mate. Come on in, go right ahead.” Robin steps back to let him in, smiling with his cute teeth all the while.

“So… Vlad, that’s an eccentric name, innit?” He continues.

Dennis grins, stepping into the apartment, in to his future boyfriend’s house.

Oh this will be so much fun!!!
