Work Text:

As with most things to do with this class, it came out of nowhere.

𝐼 - ''𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑁𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑚 𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑒''
──── ✧ ────

It was a cold day, snow falling from the sky like paper. Soft, slow, taking its sweet time. White covered every inch of grass, piled up like small mountains. The sky was a calm blue, not nearly as bright as it had been in the summer. The sun shone down on them, though its heat had long since stopped reaching them.

Tsuyu was curled at her desk, eyes fixed on Aizawa despite the shivers racking through her body. The class was sure their teacher had already noticed, if the way he had turned the heater up was any indication. Unfortunately that didn’t do much, and while most of the class had already warmed up, Tsuyu was still shivering at her chair, green hair running down her back.

Izuku glanced at her again, at her small frown and the way she couldn’t focus on her paper. He glanced down at his hands. More importantly, at the gloves on them. They were yellow, Present Mic’s speakers stitched in the middle. He wore them because of the cold. And because of his scars, which always burned worse in cold weather. He wore them because without them it was hard to write. But the classroom was warm now, at least warm enough that he could write fine without them.

Maybe he’d get a cramp or two but that wasn’t something he was too worried about right now. He slipped his gloves off, flexing around the slightly colder air. He stretched his fingers, wiggling them slightly before turning in his chair. He turned to Sero, who was also glancing at Tsuyu, and tapped the black-haired boy's shoulder.

He flinched, turning to Izuku with a raised eyebrow and a grin. The green-haired boy raised the gloves and gestured towards the frog girl. Sero blinked a few times before a look of realization spread through his face. He took them and turned to Kirishima who stared for a few seconds before smiling and taking them as well.

The red-haired boy turned to Tsuyu, who snapped her gaze away from Aizawa and looked at him with a dazed expression. Izuku frowned further, she seemed so out of it. He was pretty sure Momo had offered to tell Aizawa why Tsu would be absent but the shorter girl had refused. He was starting to think she should have stayed at the dorms.

Tsuyu stared at the gloves for a second before gazing at Izuku. Izuku smiled at her, wide and  inviting. He nodded towards the gloves and watched as a small smile spread through her face as she took them from Kirishima’s hands. Then the red-head leaned in and whispered something in her ear.

It must have been something nice, because then she was smiling wider. Gazing at Kirishima with a look that said she was on the verge of laughing.

The lunch bell echoed throughout the classroom, making some students jump up from the test in their hands. Yamada sensei smiled at them from the front of the classroom, gesturing towards Denki—his assistant for the day—to pick up the tests. The blonde huffed, probably disappointed with his answers as well, before going around and collecting them.

Mina pouted as he took them away but didn’t say anything. Yamada sensei grinned wider when Denki handed them all, all wide and kind as though he hadn’t just subjected them to an hour and a half of torture.

“Don’t worry too much guys, remakes are in four days so if you didn’t do as good as you hoped you’ll have time to study and try again next time!” The hero sounded so genuine that Izuku always forgave him for the abstract puzzles that were his tests. “Have fun at lunch!”

The class called out affirmations as they packed. They put away their books, leaving their bags by their desks as they’d come to pick them up at the end of the day. Izuku pushed his chair in softly, smiling at Momo as she walked past him.

Shouto followed right after her but came around to the front of his desk, eyes trained on his hands. Izuku huffed, flexing them slightly as he followed the line. The dual-haired boy didn’t stray far, right against the shorter boy’s back. Izuku flushed a bit, flicking his gaze towards the other.

“You gave your gloves to Tsu, right?” Shouto murmured, eyes still trained on Izuku’s hands.

Izuku hummed out an affirmation. “Yeah, the schools warm inside so I don’t need them all that much!” He smiled up at the boy.

His boyfriend hummed back, a smile resting on his face.

(God, his boyfriend. It still felt weird to say that, not in a bad way either. Izuku never thought his feelings would’ve been reciprocated. Ever. So when he accidentally spilled out all his emotions one night during one of their study sessions he was sure Shouto would never talk to him again. But that didn’t happen. Instead he now has a pretty, handsome, and smart boyfriend and he doesn’t think it could get any better than that.)

He looked up to see Ochako, Tenya, and Tsuyu by the door. Ochako smiled widely when they got close, a teasing glint in her eyes. “Hey, lovebirds~” She hummed out, grinning undeniably mischievous.

Izuku shot a look at her but received no more than a smirk back. He didn’t get to say anything though because Tsuyu was in front of him, gloves held out. Izuku blinked, eyebrows furrowing before he realized.

“Oh no! You can keep them. I have other ones in my dorm, plus you need them more!” Izuku grinned down at her. She stared at him for a second before smiling back, smaller than his but no less kind.

“Alright, thank you Midoriya, kero”

Toru sighs, shifting her sweats up as she bent down to put in yet another load of laundry. She rustled through the clothes slightly, to make sure everything was of the right color group, before stuffing them in the washing machine. She poured detergent and softener before shutting it closed.

The truth was, none of her classmates could be trusted to do laundry. They either did it all lackluster or simply stuffed all the clothes in at once. She had nearly jumped Sero when he attempted to do the laundry. And from then it was revealed that only Toru, Ochako, Bakugou (because he was good at everything apparently) and Koji knew their way around the laundry. So they ended up dividing the task among themselves.

She was happy with the schedule, really she was, but washing clothes for twenty people would never not be tiring. The invisible girl reached up to the dryer, pulling out the colored clothes. It was while she did this that her eyes got caught onto a suspiciously soft looking sweater, one she was sure she saw Kirishima wearing the other day.

It was a Fatgum themed sweater, and it was big even on the hunk of muscle that was Kirishima. Toru had stared at it the whole time the red-head had it on and distantly wondered where he got it. So she asked. He had smiled at her and said that Fatgum himself had given it to him and that it was a limited edition.

He looked so happy it was blinding.

Now, as she stared at the sweater, her curiosity got the best of her and she put it aside before taking the rest of the clothes out of the dryer. She quickly started the washing machine, then turned back to the sweater and eyed it with interest.

On one hand, she knew this one she’d have to return, after all Kirishima loved the sweater and she would soon rather die than make him upset. Kirishima was not someone she wanted to upset, he was way too nice and Toru would never forgive herself.

So she’d have to give it back. And she would.

But she had to borrow it first.

-.-

That was how Toru found herself in a sweater way too big for her. No, seriously it was huge, stopping just above his knees and the sleeves going over her arms. It was also incredibly warm and perfect for how cold it was outside.

According to Kaminari, who she passed by earlier, Kirishima was on campus sparring with Midoriya at the moment. And although Toru had no idea how those two could even dream of working out in this weather, it did mean she got to stay in the sweater longer.

She really had to ask Kirishima if he could convince Fatgum to get her one of these too, because she has never been in a sweater better than this. She usually went for ones with hoods, but this was arguably so much better.

Toru curled in on herself, letting her head drop to her knees and she shuffled further into the couch. The invisible girl let out a soft sigh, a small smile on her face.

She woke up to the sound of the dorm’s door opening. There was also chatter around her, conversation flowing smoothly through her ears. Toru opened her eyes and found that Tsu, Momo, and Iida were talking over scattered pieces of paper. They were studying.

She hummed a bit, eyes trained on the trio. Momo looked at her for a split second and hummed back, the other two focused on the paper in front of them. She huffed a little, a smile they couldn’t see playing on her face.

A gasp came from behind her, making her look over. There, taking their shoes off, were Midoriya and Kirishima. Based on their expressions, she assumed the one who made the noise was Kirishima.

“Is that my sweater!?” The red-head cried out, and while Toru could hear genuine surprise in his voice, she also heard a hint of a laugh, which meant he didn’t mind.

“Yeah! It was just there! It’s a really appealing piece of fabric.”

The boy laughed, bright and loud. His red eyes shining with mirth. “It’s fine!”

Later, as the day ended and everyone was going to bed, she would give it back. Kirishima would take it with a thank you and this would’ve never happened. But she’ll be keeping it for now.

𝐼𝐼𝐼 - "𝐻𝑢ℎ?" ... "𝑂ℎ."
──── ✧ ────

Denki yawned, loud in the stillness of the dorms. He usually wasn’t awake this early in the morning, always sleeping in until later but today he just couldn’t fall back asleep. See, Denki’s quirk was almost always active. His body constantly flowed with excess electricity, and he needed to use that energy to not become a walking electric hazard. That’s why he insisted on charging his friends' devices, or why he constantly kept a part of his body moving.

His quirk specialist, who his mom had to replace over ten times until she found a right fit, said it was best to always have a battery on him. And he did. But she also said he shouldn’t rely on it. And then she’d given him a task to not use it this whole week. So here he was stumbling into the common at the ass crack of dawn because his quirk demanded movement.

He walked past the living area toward the kitchen before realizing he didn’t bring gloves. And he couldn’t risk touching anything electric with his quirk like this. A small curse left his lips as he started to turn around—but then his eyes caught onto something on the living room table. A small lump of fabric basically beckoned him over and, curious as he was, he went.

He grinned when he realized they were a pair of gloves, black and soft. There was a skull etched into the fabric but most importantly, they were cotton. Like all of Denki’s clothes because the fabric was comfortable and repelled electricity.

He distantly promised whoever they belonged to that he’d return them before slipping the gloves on and padding his way back into the kitchen to make himself a sandwich.

The sandwich wasn’t the best thing he’d ever tasted but it was edible and that was good enough for him, especially when he was this tired. So he ate the food, gloves still on, drank a cup of milk, gloves still on, and slumped on the common room couch. Gloves still on.

He was woken up by a hand shaking his shoulders a few hours later, electric yellow eyes blinking open blearily. As the dots of color in his vision settled, he realized Sero was looking down at him, uniform on. The black haired boy grinned wide, shoulders shaking with what Denki would like to think is laughter.

“Morning, sleeping beauty.” Sero said, voice slurred. Denki would never get over the way Sero spoke, actually. It wasn’t quite an accent, but it was something. Maybe it was just his voice in general.

Once his mind actually registered the words spoken he couldn’t help but grin. “Aww, you think I’m beautiful?” He said, voice slightly raspy.

Sero tilted his head back, his laughter deceptively quiet as he snorted. Then he pushed Denki off the couch. The blonde yelped in protest, which only made the other laugh even harder. Denki pouted a bit but sat up, glancing towards the clock.

His counting of the hours was stopped by Sero prodding at his stomach. “Classes start in about an hour and a half. Bakugou told me to wake you up.”

Denki blinked at him and then beamed. “Got it!” He said as he started to stand up.

Sero hummed non-committedly as Denki started to make his way towards the elevator. He pressed the arrow pointing downwards and waited for a bit, it dinged in a matter of seconds and yellow eyes met red. Tokoyami blinked and then nodded in greeting, Denki smiled back.

But just as they passed each other the bird-headed boy paused, eyes trained on Denki’s hands. Denki’s hands that still had black, cotton gloves.

“Do those not belong to me?” The other spoke, voice low and measured. Calm, and oddly comforting in Denki’s opinion

“Huh?” The blonde tilted his head and followed the others gaze towards his hands before the memory of a few hours ago slammed into him. “Oh.”

Denki laughed nervously and slipped the gloves off. “Sorry man! I really didn’t plan on keeping them I just—”

Tokoyami raised a hand and simply accepted the gloves back, what Denki assumed was approval playing on his features. “You are quite fine. I was simply curious. If you wish, I could give you one of my many pairs.”

Denki felt his smile return, heart warming. Getting into UA had really been a blessing, hadn’t it? He didn’t even think it was possible at first, but his mom had pushed and said he should at least try and because he loved his mother and wanted to make her happy, he did.

And now he had so many nice classmates and friends who were so understanding and patient with him it was overwhelming.

“If you want to!” The blonde answered, voice light.

Tokoyami hummed and nodded to himself.

“I will.”

Ochako doesn’t actually know how her class started borrowing so many of each other's clothes, not really. She was almost fifty percent sure that Deku giving Tsu his gloves and everyone seeing her wear them for the rest of the day was what set the whole thing off but that seemed like a stretch. It wasn’t like she minded, because she really didn’t.

Seeing how loose her sweater fit around Mina’s arms had made her weirdly happy.

She actually loved the whole unspoken thing they had going on, it made her feel like they couldn’t get any closer than they already were, like the things they went through together weren't just a means to an end.

And maybe trauma bonding wasn’t the best thing to flex but she wasn’t seeing any other class wear each other’s blazers to lessons now was she? Currently, she was in Todoroki’s blazer, which actually almost swallowed her. Though it was mostly just long, fitting her fine along the shoulders.

The truth was that Todoroki’s blazer was just generally warmer. She had snatched it right off his shoulders as they were walking to class and the other hadn’t even blinked, just sparing her a glance. Ochako hadn’t felt the need to explain herself and he took the beam she gave him back without question.

She was almost jealous of the dual-haired boy—since his quirk was perfect for all the seasons. He could warm himself up in fall and winter and cool himself down in summer and spring. So, no, she didn’t feel guilty leaving him in only his button up shirt. He would survive.

(Todoroki actually did have a weakness, he was allergic to pollen and hated spring because of it. Though Deku always said he loved spring. The green-haired boy had said it was because he loved flowers and gardening and while she was sure that was half-true she’d argue it was more because he found Todoroki’s sneezing cute. Honestly, she did too.)

Either way, as she walked into class buttoning up Todoroki’s blazer the slight shivers that had been bothering all morning were subsiding. Uraraka Ochako hated winter and one of the many reasons was because she was very susceptible to the cold. She got easily sick and frankly being sick with a quirk that could make things around her float was not fun. She tripped up way too much and made the mistake of touching things with all five fingers even more.

So yeah, she hated being sick.

And that’s why she was wearing two blazers. Because it was the peak of winter and she refused to get sick in the middle of the school term. Sue her.

-.-

Uraraka Ochako was sick.

She was sick and wanted the ground to swallow her whole as she looked around her room to see four of the five pillows Momo had made her floating. Her head was spinning slightly and her stomach was churning uncomfortably. And to top it all off, she had sweated through her pajamas.

Goddamnit.

The brunette peeled herself off her bed with a cringe, the feeling of her shirt sticking to her skin making her want to rip it off. But no, she had to go to the common room and get a thermometer and was not risking going downstairs shirtless with Mineta living in the same place as her.

(She didn’t mind so much with the rest of the class if she was being honest with herself, aside from Kaminari and his flirty comments which were honestly sometimes funny, most of the boys in her class were disgustingly respectful. Or dense. Or gay. Or asesexual. Yeah she had nothing to worry about.)

Ochako somehow got up and put her uniform on. The warm bath had not helped at all. She was able to get past her spinning head and stumble her way to the elevator. It was once she got to the common room that she realized just how late it was. Kaminari was up, talking loudly with Mina while playing with Ojirou’s tail. Distantly, she registered that Ojirou’s blazer was huge on him and probably belonged to Shouji.

She didn’t have time to properly take in the scene before her though, because there were dark grey eyes blocking her line of sight.

“Uraraka-san. Are you alright?” Momo said, worry shrouding her tone.

The brunette could only blink, taking in the words before forcing a smile on her face. It probably didn’t look convincing, she could feel the sweat running down her face after all.

“I’m fine—” Ochako’s voice cracked, pain shooting down her throat. Oh. So no talking then. She didn’t doubt that if her face hadn’t already been flushed it was now. God that was embarrassing.

Momo frowned deeply, eyebrows furrowing. Then she grabbed Ochako’s arm without warning, dragging her fully out of the elevator. The brown-haired girl yelped, but chose to focus on making sure only four fingers touched Momo.

Mina did a double take when she saw them, brows also furrowing. If Ochako wasn’t so painfully tired she’d feel a little worse about worrying her friends. She could see Momo rummaging through the kitchen cupboards, probably for the first aid kit.

Ochako felt more than heard Todoroki walk up behind her, the sudden change in temperature a sign of him being worried. She huffed, turning to the dual-haired boy who was staring at her with a blank face. Had she been herself from the beginning of the year, she wouldn’t have noticed the tense worry in his shoulders. But now? Now it was almost as obvious as his hair.

“I’m fine!” She said, her throat not as dry after Momo forced her to drink a cup of water. “Don’t worry your pretty little head—”

She was shut up by a thermometer being put in her mouth, instinctively placing it below her tongue. Momo paled when she pulled the thermometer back out. 38 degrees celsius.

“I swear you’re almost as bad as Midoriya—!”

Ochako took offense to that, considering Deku had hidden that he was sick from the whole class until he blacked out just a month ago. She would never get over watching him fall from the high pipes of the simulated arena. The brunette didn’t want to imagine what would have happened if Sensei hadn’t been there.

Where even was Deku?

She turned her gaze to Todoroki, who blinked at her for a few moments. “Ah. Izuku is out with Kouda getting groceries. They should have been back by now though…” He muttered out that last part, probably meant for himself.

Then he glanced at her, staring blanking before taking his blazer off. Ochako raised an eyebrow when he placed it on his right arm, a gust of cold wind rustling the air before he dropped it over her. She didn’t bother hiding the way she melted into the fabric.

“I’m going to find where they are.” Todoroki murmured, walking off.

And when Momo returned later, giving her a cooling pad and tea, she couldn’t help but think back to how this all began. She didn’t know when her class had opened themselves to each other, and maybe it wasn’t exactly one big event. Maybe it was a slow detangling.

One thing was for sure:

Todoroki’s blazer was criminally comfortable.

𝑉 - "𝑌𝑜𝑢'𝑟𝑒 𝐴𝑙𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦 𝑊𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐼𝑡."
──── ✧ ────

Izuku ran down the common room stairs, shooting Sato an apology when he flew past the other boy. He would feel worse about scaring the lights out of the baker if he wasn’t rushing to put his shoes on. He had a meeting with All Might that was supposed to happen ten minutes ago. But Izuku, poor dumb Izuku, had fallen asleep after classes ended and didn’t hear his alarm. His mom would be disappointed.

The green-haired boy was sure his classmates who were sitting in the living room were shooting him confused glances, which—fair enough. He didn’t bother explaining himself though, just slipped his red shoes on, grabbed his jacket, and ran out the door with a “I’ll be back later!”.

Hagakure stared at the door for a few seconds before turning back to her conversation with Tsuyu.

A few feet away from the dorm, Izuku slowed down enough to start slipping his jacket on. And it was then he realized two things: his shoes were on backwards and this wasn’t his jacket. It was big on him, slightly long and wider along the shoulders. The sleeves stretched to half of his palm, and the fabric was way too soft. The jacket was warmer than his. It also smelled of faint smoke and caramel.

Izuku took Kacchan's jacket.

He was frozen for a long second, staring down at himself. He should go put it back, he should turn around and take his own instead. But the dorms were pretty far, weren’t they? He was already late to the meeting with All Might and going back would only make him later. Izuku did not want to disappoint All Might, no matter how much the hero said “it was fine”. Being ten minutes late to a meeting with the former number one hero was unacceptable!

Kacchan probably wouldn’t kill him. Probably.

Izuku didn’t turn around. He zipped the jacket up, fixed his shoes, and kept running towards the main campus. He ignored how warm the jacket felt, ignored how the smell made his nerves calm down. Maybe it was because it was a good jacket. Or maybe it was because a part of his mind snapped to a warmer memory—a long since buried memory.

Three hours later, he was walking back to the dorms, a small smile on his face. The tenseness from before was long gone, and he was walking slowly while fidgeting with the sleeves of Kacchan's jacket. Honestly, if someone asked Izuku if he had a death wish he’d probably say yes. The blonde was most definitely going to kill him.

(It was almost worth it, though. It was almost worth feeling like they were friends again. Like he had never lost the first person he ever gained. It was worth the fullness in his chest, even if only for a few minutes.)

He yelped a bit when he bumped into someone, planting his feet so as to not fall. He looked up, mouth open to apologize when he met ruby red eyes. Kacchan stared down at him before locking onto the jacket. His jacket. The blonde’s gaze sharpened, mouth twisting down into a deep frown.

Izuku gulped.

“I’m sorry—I’ll take it off! I was rushing out to meet with All Might and I just grabbed it! It was an accident I swear ‘m sorry—” Izuku stuttered out, rushing to zip the zipper down. He cursed under his breath when it got a bit stuck, hands shaking slightly. He wasn’t sure if what was going through him was fear or disappointment.

He didn’t want it to be either.

A growl stopped him in his tracks, snapping his head up to Kacchan. The blonde was glaring, but not yelling yet. He didn’t even look angry yet, actually. When their eyes met Kacchan huffed, crossing his arms.

“Keep it. You’re already wearing the damn thing anyway.” The red-eyed boy said, looking away.

Izuku felt his eyes widen, mouthing opening but nothing coming out. Was he hallucinating? Izuku had seen Kacchan bruise one of the boys in middle school for taking his umbrella.

The green-haired boy smiled wide, a warmth he hadn’t felt in a while flooding his chest. He was most definitely telling Shouto about this later in their game of two truths and a lie, he would never believe it.

“Thank you Kacchan.” Izuku said, voice light.

The taller boy just walked away, bumping Izuku’s shoulder on the way.

"𝑰𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑨𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒘𝒂'𝒔 𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒇?"
──── ✧ ────

Shouta stared down at his desk with a deep frown, eyes sharp. At his empty desk. A desk that shouldn’t be empty because he had left his capture weapon here less than ten minutes ago. He didn’t have to look up to see the guilty (or amused) looks of the rest of the staff, looks that he knew were there. He took a deep breath and looked at Snipe.

The hero didn’t have his mask on, his eyes boring into the monitor in front of him. He was avoiding Shouta’s gaze, probably. So, the black-haired man did what he does best and activated his quirk. Snipe flinched at the empty feeling having his quirk shut off. His gulp echoed across the teachers lounge and Shouta was sure he heard a small hiss from behind him.

“So, no one is going to tell me who took it?” The erasure hero growled out, turning his gaze to the next person, Ectoplasm looked away immediately. Who on earth had put them up to this? They usually would have caved by now.

“Thirteen.” He shut off his quirk and looked at them, the space hero flinched a bit but shook their head. Seriously?

Was this one of Nedzu’s idiotic forms of entertainment? Shouta wouldn’t be surprised if it was. None of the students were stupid enough to take his capture weapon… Actually, there was. He groaned and walked out of the teachers lounge and towards his class of misfits.

(Snipe breathed out a sigh of pure relief. “Geez, he sure knows how to scare a man”

“I don’t know how you didn’t cave!” Thirteen squeezed out, voice quiet

“Well, Nedzu is scarier.”

“Fair enough.” Ectoplasm murmured)

-.-

Mina still had zero idea how she had gotten away with this. Midnight-sensei had sent her to get some papers she’d forgotten at her desk and it was just there. It was a risk, but somehow she’d missed the attention of all the teachers there—and stolen Aizawa-sensei’s scarf. The pink-skinned girl squealed quietly as she opened the door to her classroom again, her shoulders a scarf heavier.

Midnight sensei looked up with a smile and then froze, eyes widening. But before Mina could panic a grin spread across the x-rated hero’s face, she seemed seconds away from bursting out laughing. “Ashido. Is that Aizawa’s scarf?”

She looked down at the bundle of cloth covering her neck and smiled back “Yeah—!”

Midnight-sensei burst out laughing, bringing the attention of everyone in the class towards them and Mina watched in real time their expressions change when they took in the situation. Momo looked horrified, Uraraka looked dumbstruck, Kaminari looked thrilled, Midoriya paled, Ojirou’s mouth flew open, and Iida looked seconds from passing out.

Mina just smirked back at them.

“ASHIDO MINA! That is Aizawa-sensei’s personal property! What makes you think he won’t find out—and even if he didn’t that’s still incredibly disrespectful!” Iida sputtered out, seemingly at a loss for words.

Midoriya was staring at his desk as if it had the answers to all the questions surely running through his head and the room had become even colder than before when Todoroki iced the back of the classroom in surprise.

She’d say this was a success.

At least she would half a second ago before the door slammed open and the sudden absence of her quirk confirmed who was there.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

(In the end, Aizawa let her keep it. And no, Hizashi, he was not getting soft. He was simply too tired to bother taking it from her. And no he did not smile when it was Ojirou who returned it to him at the end of the day, a small smile on the tailed boy's face.)
