Work Text:

He was gone. She'd never see him again. His existence crumbling to dust before her eyes, delegated to just a memory. To just hopes and maybes. She felt like Prometheus. Chained to fate. Chained to make the hard decisions. To be the villian. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. Another one. The world shifted under her feet, drawing another shaky breath. It wasn't enough.

Difficult decisions had needed to be made. It had fallen to her. She had made the final choice. It had to be done.
Eva swallowed her regrets. It was too late now. His fate belonged to the stars, and she could only watch the Hail Mary disappear into the clouds.
