Shadows bites back

Summary:

Inspired by all the vampires smp react to life series but instead of Third Life I did Limited Life

~

Scott had learned that peace never lasted in his long, immortal life. In Empires, he and Jimmy had a great relationship, jumpstarted by 3rd Life. Then, after he killed himself with the Rune Blade, he stayed alive, due to the curse put on him for becoming the Stars. Thanks Watchers. He really did (not) enjoy it.

Bannerfall happened next, 800 years later. Just when Scott thought he had finally found peace, and another love, Nom ate resin and died once the necromancer was dead, something about their souls being bound. That reminded him painfully of his relationship with Xornoth and Pearl in Double Life

200 years later, Empires 2 happened. He saw reincarnations of all his friends, who did not seem to remember him. After they peacefully passed away, with Gem going back to Hermitcraft, Scott went back to sleep.

Another 400 years passed, Afterlife happened. That’s when he became Scott Goldsmith, and that’s what he stayed as, 600 years later.

Chapter Text

Now. Rivendell had turned into the Blue Kingdom, which turned into a mix of both Blue Kingdom, Chromia and Rivendell. If it wasn’t for those stupid beacons, Scott would be able to see Crystal Cliffs, Mythland, Grimlands, the Ocean Empire, Mazelia, The Overgrown, The Undergrove, The Gilded Hithlanthia and Pixandria. It seemed that most Empires 1 structures had survived.

Aeor, he really needed Xel to smite the town. Sorry Scott, can’t do that. I’m already in a bunch of trouble. A suspiciously British voice said in his mind. Grian talking to him directly. “Yeah yeah G. I know.” He said, sighing.

“Scott? Are you talking to yourself again?” A sweet chipper voice said, Shelby.

“Not again Shelby, it’s my first time. And I’m speaking to…” Scott trailed off. He probably shouldn’t tell Shelby, albeit trustworthy, did have a habit of gossip. “No one Shubs.”

Shelby reminded him so so so much of Mae, the girl who was like a sister to him. 4C as well, but like a brother, and Nom’s brother and best friend.

“Scott, we talked about this. It’s not healthy to keep your feelings bottled up. Also, me, Owen and Pyro found a sword in the crypt while we were finding our rooms. I was wondering if we could use it when fighting the townsfolk.” Shelby said.

“Did it have runes on it?” He asked.

“Uh huh! So… Can we use it?”

“Unfortunately not Shelby. It’s really powerful. And dangerous. Blessed by Aeor and Exor themselves.” Shelby let out a soft gasp at that.

“The Rune Blade! How’d you get it Scott?!”

“I can’t tell you, sorry Shelby.” Shelby pouted, but dropped the subject. “Well, come to the crypt then. We found so many different and cool things!” With that, Shelby stood up and dragged Scott off his bed, and into the crypt.

“Oh hey sire!” Pyro said. “Oh and hello Shelby! Shelby waved back to Pyro.

“Hello Pyro, hi Owen.” Scott responded, pulling his facade back on. “Shelby told me you guys found the Rune Blade, correct?”

“It was the Rune Blade?” Owen asked in shock.

Scott nodded and picked up the sword to inspect it. The very sword had found him again. Always seemed to, no matter how much he tried to forget about it. To avoid it.

The magic responded softly to him, the cold diamond, gold and handle grounding him. The blade was just as sharp as Scott remembered, the handle specially carved to allow a vampire to hold it. He could still feel the magic radiating off him, and at that thought his chest throbbed, a never fading reminder of the same sword he was holding plunged into his chest to kill his brother.

A sacrifice, they called it. Stars, sacrificing themselves to save an already broken world. Honourable, just like Last Life. Succumbing to the curse.

“Sire?” Pyro’s voice cut through the trip down memory lane and Scott went back to the present.

“Yes, sorry Pyro. Let’s go to the town. I believe it”s time this bad boy sees the light of day hm? Well, night.” With that, Scott stood up, clutching the sword in his hand and leaping out of the crypt, the coven following a second later.

Scott however did not see the concerned glance the coven shared.

Falling back into the familiar rhythm of having a sword in his hand, Scott stood on Oakhurst’s wooden walls. Avid had rung the warning bells, which was just… screaming. His high pitched voice grated his ears, made worse by his elf descendance.

Immediately, at Avid’s cry, the rest of town appeared. Clearly everyone was shocked to see Scott holding a sword. But a 2000 year ol’ vampire is sure to always have a few tricks up their sleeves.

“Wait one minute.” The doc’s voice said. Scott really didn’t know what Owen saw in him. But, it wasn’t his business and Scott frankly didn’t care what. All he knew was that Owen liked Legs, and vice versa. That was enough.

”Abolish? Are you seeing what I’m seeing?” Legs said. It was now intently obvious that the town was looking at the Rune Blade, the smarter ones inspecting the diamond engravings carved into the blade. Hah! Smarter ones my arse!

“Be nice Xel, or I’m going to set Gem or Scar on you.”

No no no no don't you dare Smajor. I’m not having my sister or boyfriend or even both knowing you, yelling at me to be nice.

“Why is Scott talking to himself?” Avid asked Drift, who shrugged.

“And who is this ‘Xel’ person?” Drift added.

“I’m not speaking to myself.” Scott said, glaring at the two townsfolk.

⍑ᒷ’ᓭ  リ𝙹ℸ ̣.

“What was that?! Who was that!?” The town said, a sea of voices.

I forget I’m not speaking English. Anyways, hi, I’m Xelqua, and Scott has been talking to me. Scott, Xenara is making me show y’know… the series.

“Are you kidding me!?” Scott said, gripping the Rune Blade tighter.

I’m sorry Scott, but on the bright side you’ll be able to see your husband again!

“Scott has a husband? Scott! Why didn’t you tell me?” Shelby said, pouting. The only one who had a positive reaction to the news. Everyone else just had their mouths agape, or looking at each other.

Oh yeah, Scott, Xenara is allowing you to choose which series these people get to see.

“None.”

You can’t do that Scott. I’m sorry. 1-7?

“Let the town choose. I can’t be bothered. All of them are equally painful.”

Very well. Town?

“4?” Avid said cautiously, before receiving a smack on the arm from Drift.

Very well. Limited Life it is. I wish you the very best of luck Smajor, and guys, you will realise how Scott became the person he is today. Please be considerate. Scott is one of my best friends after all.

Then the world for everyone in Oakhurst turned into shadows.
