After the class of 2008 graduated, everyone to some extend wondered what Daniel Fenton will do after school.
He was very vocal that he will not work for his parents’ company – FentonWorks – nor to take it over one day, to Jack and Maddie’s disappointment.
However he wasn’t vocal what he wanted to work as. Back in Freshman year, he said he wanted to be an astronaut or an astrophysicist, but when his grades crashed down, that dream crashed with them. But when they recovered, ending on a 3.7 GPA, the dream wasn’t revived.
He just vanished after graduation and no one knows where to. Daniel filed a voluntary disappearance with the Amity Park Police Department, and no one at the military recruitmenters saw him, so no one knows anything.
So in 2012, when the rumors hit, the corner of social media the younger Amity Parker’s carved out for themselves started to buzz. After a dozen ringings from her phone, Sam read it. Turns out it was the Facebook group her High School Graduation class used to stay in touch.

Aside that the photo quality isn’t great, I have only seen this guy from afar. But he is build like Fenton, has black hair, blue eyes and I am certain I saw a Lichtenberg Figure on him.

He said he may not go to the APPD, he might go else where. He is self sponsoring his stint at the academy. Considering how understaffed the APPD is since everyone wants to be a shiny ghost hunter, I asked him to at least apply at the APPD. As a free agent, he can go elsewhere afterwards if they reject him.
Months later, Dale and Danny both started at the APPD as Probationary Police Officers. While Dale was treated like any old rookie, Danny didn’t enjoy this normalcy.
As the god son of Mayor Masters, he was observed as if he was a spy for his ‘uncle’ – ignoring the fact Danny hadn’t talked to Vlad since leaving for college in 2008. And as a Fenton, all eyes were on him to watch him fuck up like a Fenton.
Namely…
“Aren’t cops supposed to be good drivers?” Dale’s younger brother asked after Dale returned from his shift, “Like, they enforce the traffic laws, so they should be good drivers, right? Or is this like with our French teacher Mrs. Dion who doesn’t speak French?”
Dale shook his head. “We are supposed to be good drivers. Considering the academy took him and the Brass hired him, I’m sure he has the required licenses.”
“Jack Fenton has a driver’s license, yet he his driving is questionable.” his brother pointed out.
He sighed. “Listen, in May Phase 2 begins. Us rookies stop being observers and sit on the driver’s seat.” Dale stated, “Next month we can see how well he drives.”
When May began, everyone paid more attention to the street, to the APPD cruisers patrolling, namely Danny’s cruiser. His Field Training Officer Kenneth Jones paid the most attention.
He eyed Danny’s every movement as they drove off the parking lot and drove through the neighborhood they were assigned to. But nothing happened. Danny kept to the speed limits, kept in the lane and didn’t rush over yellow like his parents would. He drove… normally.
And Kenneth witnessed it first hand.
While on a coffee break, Kenneth posted in the ‘FentonWatch’ group on Facebook.

Of course he doesn’t! Do you really think his parent’s driving style would be tolerated in Chicago? Where he studied? And got his driver’s permit? He won’t have gotten his badge if he drove like his old man!
Half way though Phase 3, with the summer heat of July and August beating down on the city and its protectors, the APPD finally stopped treating him as the Mayor’s spy or favorite. He just had to show them his finances of the last 5 years – to show Vlad didn’t pay a thing from his move, to his college tuition to his stint at the academy – but they stopped.
His FTO of Phase 3 was Officer Reyes. As he heard from his previous FTO’s about Danny, he knew what to expect: no typical Fenton craziness. So Reyes was chill.
But then someone in a silver Porsche sped through the inner city. Danny hit the gas pedal and gave chase. He weaved though the traffic, caught up with the speeder and pulled them over. And gave Jeremy Manson a ticket.
Reyes looked between them while his rookie wrote the ticket. Normally people let Jeremy slide and if the rumors are true that Danny dates Sam Manson…
“You just-”
“I just did my job, Reyes.” Danny said slightly annoyed.
“Won’t your girlfriend-”
“Sam and I aren’t dating.” Danny clarified. “Well, not anymore. But for your question, if anything she’ll find it hilarious I ticketed him.” Danny got into their cruiser and added, “I would even ticket the mayor if given the chance.”
“I need to see that.” Reyes smirked.
By the time Phase 4 rolled around in September and Sergeant Watkins was his FTO for evaluation, Amity Park got used to him being a good driver, even if the ‘Are we sure he is their son? Even Jazz drives unhinged sometimes.’ jokes really got annoying, especially after he gave chase to a speeder to pull them over.
So he had no issues to flip on the sirens when the GAV rushed past them.
“Wait, you-really?” japsed Watkins. For someone in plain clothes who is supposed to be like a ghost – not be noticed and just observe the rookie – he wasn’t really silent.
Danny just rolled his eyes and chased after the GAV to pull him over. When the GAV finally stopped and stopped at the side of a road, he saw his mother was driving. Everyone assumes his dad is the demon behind the wheel, but Maddie isn’t much of a better driver.
“Sweetie-”
He just sighed. “Don’t take it personal, just doing my job.” he said quickly. “Papers and registration, please.”
Watkins just watched on, impressed. Most rookies struggle to ticket their own parents.
