Chapter 1: A Double Suicide

Chapter Text

Two figures intertwine as they dance on the bridge of life and death.
Push and pull, dark and light.
Wondering if they stand the tests of time.

They dance on the ledge as they live life on the edge.
Basked in pale moonlight, mortality is inevitable.
They face death as a pair, faded feathers in her hair, as they sway with the moon and the tides.

The attachment to the rest of the world will waiver,
The pale moonlight washes out their complexions,
And eventually the world fades to grey.

Detachment, in itself, is a form of defeat.
Admitting your separation from the rest of the world, announcing your solitude.
A world only consisting of a pair is a lonely one indeed.

Detachment comes with freedom.
The freedom to let go of the physical world,
To be reckless; to relieve oneself from the burden of emotional dead-weight.

Their hearts race in unison, the reaction is visceral for the both of them.
Passion and fear in a delicate dance.
The freedom to be weightless, like the wind carrying the salt-filled eastern breeze.

Minds clouded by lust, ego, and the adrenaline of living life on a razor thin edge.
Love is in the air, but death waits under the water.
Not a care in the world is given. If this is the end, it will be met with a cruel indifference.

A figure falls into the sea, dragging the other down along with it.
The pair seem nearly happy to go down.
At its worst, death is indifference. At its best, death is a relief.

Two bodies fall into the sea below.
They sink like stones, yet they do not grasp, struggle, or claw for air.
They seep into the cold water below, holding each other.
A faint smile can be seen on their faces.

Their bodies were found in the morning, washed ashore.
They didn’t care enough to kill themselves, but not enough to be saved either.
The coroner ruled it a double suicide.
