Chapter Text
Katie woke up with a headache.
The florescent lights reflected off of the bright pristine white walls. No matter how many times she and Ash scratched at them carving... obscene... images they'd always return to their prior state before they new it.
Next to her, a federation officer creepily smiled. She sat up from her bed quickly failing to notice that this wasn't her cell. She attempted to reach for Don, who always slept in the cot next to her, but instead was greeted with a wall.
"Why am I here?" Katie growled at the officer. She was met with silence as the officer turned away.
"Heeelllooo?" She drew out the word leaning to make eye contact with the fuzzy bear-like man. He to walked out of the room,
"I see you must be afraid of me! You are scared of the power I hold!" She repeated the phrase often, most of the time using it as an empty threat. She didn't believe she had power.
Being left alone she grew restless, deciding to give the room a quick investigation.
She swung her legs off of the bed to be met with the sounds of clanking bringing her attention to the cuff chaining her leg to the bed frame.
"Oh!"

Ash woke up to the sound of a door opening. He quickly swung the blanket off from over his head.
It had been a week since he was brought here and he couldnt remember a thing from his past.
All he had was his new found family: a odd teenage boy with a dark brownish-black hair named Don and a girl who looked like she was around the same age as himself named Katie.
He shot out of bed to face the officer who opened the door,
"Get lost you federation dog!"
He heard a groan from the cot across from him,
"Ash just be quiet! SOME of us are still trying to get more than six hours of sleep."
The federation officer spoke,
"It is morning. If you are needed your name will be called over the intercom. If such an occasion happens please approach any Federation Guard to escort you! Failure of compliance will lead to penalties. Please exit your cell and head for the main hall."
This was now the seventh time they'd heard this spiel. The three luckily never had their names called yet.
They DID know if they didn't leave their room now they'd be locked in all day. As Ash and Katie tried to be rebellious on the first day and ended up being locked in with no meals. Don snuck his stale ration back for the two not eating anything himself that day.
Don begrudgingly removed the blanket from atop his head,
"Hey officer man! Can't something be done about these awful fluorescent lights? I can't even get a full night's rest in these conditions."
As usual any requests they made were left ignored as the officer turned to leave.
"Bro got left on heard-" Ash laughed nudging Don with his elbow.
"So did you Ash..." Don sighed kicking himself out of bed, "Katie time to get up sis!"
He turned towards Katie's cot finding it empty.
"What the hell?" Ash pushed Don out of the way, "Where is she??"
"I don't know!" Don snapped, "Did she leave before we woke up?"
"No way, not even possible! I woke up as soon as that door opened she wouldn't have had the time!" Ash explains, "Plus you and I both know we basically have to drag her out of bed in the morning."
Anger bubbled up in Ash, "Those federation scum! Those PIGS must have taken her while we were sleeping."
"But they always say they will call for us over the intercom if we are needed... Why would they lie over something so insignificant?" Don, realizing he answered his own question continued, "Of course! If they tell us they'll announce when we will be taken we won't be on guard 24/7!"
Ash nods, "I see they must have known we wouldn't have allowed them to take Katie, so they created a fake feeling of safety for us while we are in our cells to catch us off guard while we were asleep."
"Thats literally what I said," Don glares, "Whatever, doesn't even matter! We have bigger priorities lets split up to try and find Katie."
"Already on it!" Ash rushes out, "I'll be sure to find Katie first!!"

Katie sat in the bed angrily singing any songs she could recall to pass the time. She caught her reflection in a mirror placed on the wall next to her.
Looking up and down at herself she smiled bringing her hand to the small horn protruding from her forehead.
She recalls how she used to be ashamed of the small bump. Her eyes begin to water as she thinks of her life before captivity.
