Chapter Text
It was morning, he assumed, since the light through the cracked windows was now present, but not blinding, meaning it must be dawn, or he’d simply not noticed the day go by after waking up and it was actually dusk, although that was less likely.
he should get up and eat, although he despised food in every way he did understand that it was necessary in order to survive.
one leg up from the floor, another leg up from the floor, steady yourself on the dirty wall and standing is achieved.
red on his leg, he must’ve accidentally slept on a glass shard again, a bother..
oh well, he had to prioritise getting enough sustenance to not pass out later on in the day, he carefully made his way through his room and into the trashy hallway.
(he really did wish auntie would clean the place up, at least once)
through the hallway to the backmost room, open the half rotting door slowly,
(he didn’t want to break it and be made to pay for it back afterall)
then carefully step past the doorway into the kitchen.
he wondered what was available to eat, the only food he could really stand at all was bread with tomato sauce,
it was sweeter than the other options, so of course he pivoted to the top left drawer and took out the bread they had left,
then the badly repackaged into a jar tomato sauce from the fridge,
lay both on the counter and take out a plastic spoon, scoop up tomato sauce and lather it onto the bread..
lick the spoon clean and reseal the jar, quickly rinse the spoon and bring the bread to the beat up table.
sustenance gained and eaten.
much better, he no longer felt the need to curl up onto the floor and pass out, and the taste wasn’t too awful either,
he wondered if auntie was awake yet, if she was she’d probably already left to go to some of her so called “benefactors” to collect money from them,
he was quite sure that wasn’t exactly what was going on, but he didn’t seem to know what it actually was since every concept he knew of currently didn’t fit right.
he wanted to go to the library, but auntie had said to not go out the house unless it’s an emergency since apparently “bad people” would take him away from her permanently if he was spotted to often by strangers,
he didn’t exactly believe that, again he didn’t really know the truth but he knew that wasn’t true at all,
auntie tended to lie or at least sugar coat truths a whole lot.
he wondered why, he himself did lie often, but it was different..
he honestly didn’t care enough about her lie filled warnings not to go,
the library was his favourite place.
he’d much rather be there than home..
that was the day he got himself kidnapped
okay that was an exaggeration.. but “child protective services” sure wasn’t any better than being kidnapped,
some random lady had snatched him up at the library and brought him to a police station, honestly he hadn’t payed any attention to what she had been saying but eventually “child protective services” had been called and after a few hours he’d been brought to a prison cell looking place, white walls, white chair, white bed, a few toys in the corner,
he just wanted to go back to the library really.
he was there for apparently 2 days
(if he hadn’t forgotten a day or something)
and then
he was brought to a orphanage named “wammy’s house” after some tests.
he didn’t exactly like the place, mr Wammy-san was… alright though, he was incredibly weak willed but due to that very accommodating.
he had gotten to eat “jam on toast” the first breakfast there, it was delicious, he loved it, he swore he could eat it every day for the rest of his life, and he gladly would.
some older children had attempted to bully him, but he enforced justice, afterwards for whatever reason mr Wammy-san had gotten him his own room, he didn’t know justice was so rewarding, the room was great, his own space, and incredibly clean too, last night he’d been with the other children, they had been loud so he was glad to have some peace,
he wondered if all children were like that, if so was there something wrong with him for not being like that? Must be, it made sense, he must be a monster, he’d read about them, they are like him, that made much more sense than him being a boy, since he didn’t act like one at all.
that was a interesting revelation to keep in mind.
he was sitting on the soft padded floor completing one of the puzzles he’d been gifted, they were starting to bore him though, it had only been two days and they were already very repetitive, breakfast was soon,
he hoped for toast again, that was delicious and exhilarating..
