Work Text:
Tim digs through his drawers looking for a shirt. Any shirt. But it seems like they all disappeared. He sighs and looks over at Lucy who is still curled up in bed. She has one of his shirts on. He remembers her throwing it on before she crawled into bed and curled up next to him. She had been wearing his shirts since they were rescued. He didn’t mind it, he loves when she wears his stuff. It just seemed like she needed to wear his stuff.
“Babe,” Tim says. He sits on the edge of the bed. “Lucy.” She opens her eyes and looks at him.
“Hmm?”
“Where are all my shirts?” He asks. Lucy sits up and looks at him before she’s looking down at the bed.
“What do you mean? Why are you asking me?” She asks. He reaches over to tug on his shirt she’s wearing.
“Because you have been wearing my shirts lately.” Tim says. “I don’t mind. But I do need to have some of them.”
“I—hoarded some of them.” She says and she gestures to the dresser. They are with my socks.”
“Why your socks?”
Lucy shrugs and he leans in to give her a kiss. “I didn’t mean to hoard them. I just like how they smell.” Lucy says softly. “I didn’t have that—”
“I know that baby.” Tim says. “It’s okay. I can buy another pack of shirts.” Lucy laughs a little. Tim gets up to go to her sock drawer, and pulls one shirt out but leaves the rest.
He really can buy more.
Lucy needs the shirts more than he does right now and he would do anything to make her happy.
(He does find two packs of shirts on their bed when he gets home that day. And he loves her more than ever.)

Lucy is in a panic as she rushes into the hospital. She sees Tim in one of the beds. He has a brace on his wrist and he looks agitated. She rushes over and he gestures her to come closer. She immediately wraps herself around him.
“I’m okay Lucy.” He says softly running his fingers through her hair. “I’m okay.”
“I know.” Lucy mutters. “Just scared me a little.” Tim hums softy, and she leans into him.
“I’m sorry.” He says. “I didn’t know they would call you so fast.”
“I’m glad they did.” Lucy says because she couldn’t imagine being at work thinking everything was okay and then—
“Me too.”
Lucy wants to get up on the bed with him, just being away from him seemed wrong. She never liked being apart from Tim. Ever since they got back together, they were always near each other. Even on the late nights, or when Lucy would make late night tea and the crawl into bed with Tim. He was always near. He was always there close enough for her to touch.
And then she went undercover and for four weeks she didn’t have that. He was there to kiss her gently as she drifted off to sleep.
She got home and they were attached at the hip again. She fell asleep with her head on his chest and it was the best sleep she had in four weeks.
And then they got engaged, drugged and kidnapped. She woke up without her fiancé next to her. She couldn’t feel, hear or touch him.
Now that’s all she wants to do. So just having him hear and in the hospital bed. She was too far away.
“Come here,” Tim says and he scoots over. He really knows her too well. She climbs into the bed and lays her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat.
He’s here. He’s alive.
He presses a kiss to the top of her head. And she’s repeats the mantra in her head.
He’s here. He’s alive.

“Where’s Lucy?” Tim asks Angela when she steps into his office. “Is she on patrol?” He hadn’t seen her since this morning when they rode in together (there was no other way to do it). He hadn’t seen her come back or even walk by.
“I think so,” Angela says and she looks over her shoulder and then back at him. “Why?”
“I haven’t seen her all day. I usually see her throughout the day.” He says and it sounds pathetic. But he doesn’t like losing sight of her.
They do everything together now at hime. She stays in the kitchen while he washes the dishes and he stays when she’s getting ready in the morning or at night.
They usually take their showers together (that hasn’t changed) to conserve water but really it’s to be close to one another.
It was hell being away from her. It was hell waking up and not having her next to him while they were in the tiny cell.
So he doesn’t like not having her in sight even if he knows she’s okay.
She’s at work and she’s safe.
“Tim, she’s fine.” Angela says and she gives him a knowing look. “She’s safe.”
“How do you know that?” He asks. “Because our job isn’t safe.”
“She is good at her job Tim.” Angela says. “You guys can’t be together all the time.”
“I know that.” Tim says and he glances around the office. He has a picture of Kojo on his desk (Lucy’s idea—the dog was a little dependent on them since they came back.) and a picture of their engagement photos that Angela insisted on them doing.
“Better memories.” She had said.
Right.
He’s sure his desk will be filled with more pictures—their wedding pictures, pictures of their kids one day.
“You two have been a little clingy lately.” Angela says. “I mean I get it—”
“We are always like that.” Tim says and he catches sight of Lucy walking towards his office with Celina. She’s smiling and laughing, and it makes his heart happy.
“I know but so than usual—” Angela stops when Lucy steps into the office.
“Hey,” Lucy says. “Do you want to go out tonight?” She is looking at Tim but then moves her eyes to Angela.
“Celina thought it would be good to get out.” Lucy says.
“I think that’s a great idea.” Angela says. Tim hesitates and looks at Lucy who just gives him a soft smile.
“Fine. Only for a little bit.” He says. Lucy nods in agreement, and at least he could have her close.
That’s what really matters.

Lucy is practically in Tim’s lap. They are in a booth at a bar that Angela recommended.
(She was also here but ordering drinks). The booth was sticky, it was dark and loud. Lucy’s nerves were already shot.
She doesn’t know why she agreed to this. She’s not sure why Tim agreed to this. He was the one who usually made up an excuse.
“This will be good for you.” Angela had said as they were heading out. “Trust me.”
Good her ass.
She moves a little on Tim’s lap making him grunt. He presses his lips to her neck, and then leaves it there.
“Careful.”
“Sorry.” She mutters. Tim just brings his hands down to her hips. He knows her body like the back of his hand. He also knows her, and his touch was grounding.
“It’s okay,” he says softly. “I know this is a lot.”
It is a lot but somehow turning her fiancé on by just sitting in his lap did something to her.
“It is.”
“But maybe we do need to get out more.” He says. Lucy’s heart clenches a little, and she hopes he means together.
“Together?”
“Always.”He says. Lucy hums and turns her head to look at him. It’s dark but she still reaches out to run her finger across his lips.
“I love you.” She says. He grips her harder. She’s not how she survived without him.
“I love you too.”

The house is dark when Tim pulls up, and he immediately puts it in park and turns it off. Lucy’s car is in the driveway but it’s dark.
It’s only 7pm.
They had to ride in separately today, and he left later than she did. He didn’t like it. He wasn’t a fan of it and now the house is dark.
He gets out and walks up to the door, he unlocks it and steps inside. Kojo runs up to him and he bends down to scratch behind his ears.
“Hi. Where’s your mom?” He asks. He stands back up and sets the alarm and then walks further inside the house.
“Lucy?” He calls but it’s more of a whisper yell. “Luce?” He walks down the hallway and sees the bedroom is dark too.
He pushes the door open and stops when he sees Lucy curled up on the bed. She’s hugging his pillow tightly to her. She is still fully dressed, it seems like she just fell asleep.
He blows out a relived breath, he’s not sure what he thought happened.
But she was fine.
He walks closer and presses a kiss to the top of her head. She stirs and blinks up at him.
“Hi.” She says. “Your home late.”
“It’s 7 o clock Luce.” He says. Lucy frowns and reaches over to tap her phone. “Oh. I fell asleep. I thought you would be home earlier.”
“Me too.” He says. He sits on the edge of the bed and she lays her head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry. Did you eat?”
“No.”
“I’ll order something.” He says. “Just rest Luce.”
“I’m going with you.” She says. He stands and offers his hand to her. She takes it and he pulls her up.
He leads her out to the kitchen, and she blows out a breath. “What?” He asks.
“I don’t know.” She says. “Being home alone was weird. Without you. And then I realized I haven’t been home alone since we—we haven’t really been apart.”
“Do you want to be apart?” Tim asks but Lucy shakes her head.
“No. I don’t like being away from you.” She says. “And I think Celina has noticed.”
“Angela has noticed.” Tim says. “So we are a little dependent on one another. It’s okay we went through hell.”
“Yeah.”
Tim reaches out and grabs her hands. “We are going to be married. Nothing will change. I will always need you.” He says.
“I will always need you.” Lucy says. “Always.” Tim pulls her into a hug, and gives her another kiss.
He loves her more than anything and he was so close to losing her. He hated feeling so helpless. Being around Lucy gave him strength. It grounded him.
“I’m going to order some food and we can just have an easy night in.” Tim says.
Lucy nods and she looks like she likes that plan.. a lot. “Okay.” She says. “I love you.” Tim blinks at her and then leans in to kiss her.
He loves her so much and he doesn’t mind being a little codependent.
“I love you too.”
And those words were worth it all.
