My name is Phoenix Wright, and I'm an attorney. About a year ago, I reclaimed my Attorney's badge after being unrightfully discharged, and have since been busy behind the defense's bench, protecting the innocent from false Guilty verdicts.
I've seen and done my fair share of Strange in the courtroom- spirit mediums, whip-wielding prosecutors, cross-examining a parrot, and not too long ago, me and my two protégés managed to catch an international spy and put him behind bars...
...But absolutely nothing could have prepared me for having to defend a God in court.
I remember the phone call- a woman promising an all-expenses-paid flight to New Mexico, in the middle of nowhere, along with a far heftier paycheck than what I was used to. Was it suspicious? Absolutely. I was actually about to hang up on them, but... Well.
You try saying no to your daughter when she's holding a pair of suitcases she'd somehow packed in under two minutes and staring directly into your soul with the biggest puppy-dog eyes you've ever seen.

(Ugh. That had to have been one of the worst flights I've been on, ever. Hopefully this doesn't turn Trucy off to airplanes in the future.)

(My adopted daughter... Trucy's been with me for nearly eight years now. I took her in after her dad, who was accused of murder, ran away before he could be found Guilty.)
(She didn't have any family left, and despite having just lost my badge, I couldn't just leave her with nobody...)
(It helps that her skills as a magician gave us some supplementary income while I didn't have my job.)

I wanted to thank you for taking on my request at such short notice. I know New Mexico is pretty far from Los Angeles, but... Well.
This was urgent enough I felt like I had to.
Trucy Wright

Well, I'm grateful for it, Trucy. Now, it's a long drive to town, so I'll fill you in on the way...

(Over the drive, Ms. Foster explained everything to us. Her new boyfriend, Thor, has been accused of murdering an agent of a group called S.H.I.E.L.D.)

(She's saying he says he's innocent, and she believes him because he would 'take credit if he really had killed that man.')

Alright... here we are. This is where they've been keeping Thor since they arrested him.
I was worried that he'd be taken by those agents, but I don't think they can unless he's found guilty.

Hahah! Once I have escaped this place, we shall share a great feast together, for one of the lessons I have learnt in my many years of life is that the best way to get to know another is to dine with them.

I mean, yeah, in court. Did... Did you think I was going to fight in a colosseum or something?
Trucy Wright
Ohhhh, yeah, you wouldn't want that. Daddy's smart, but he's not that strong. He gets out of breath really quickly.

(I'm not that out of shape, am I?)
Thor
Ah, but a battle of wits and words is still a battle nonetheless. If there is anything I may do to assist you, Sir Phoenix, you need only ask!

Oh, uh, sure.
(Wow. It's weird having a cooperative client for once.)

Thor
Hm... Alas, there is not much for me to tell you. I know that he was likely one of the soldiers- or, agents, I suppose you would call them- sent to survey me.
Jane Foster
W-Wait! You had guys following you around!? How did you-
Thor
I have spent many years building a warrior's instincts, and in that time they have not betrayed me once!
...Erm, kind of.
Phoenix Wright
(That doesn't make me feel any better.)
Trucy Wright
So you're like a super fighter guy!?
Thor
Indeed! I was once the greatest warrior on Asgard, before I...

(My Magatama's reacting...!)
(I remember when I first got this, over a decade ago. A friend of mine, a spirit medium, filled it with 'spiritual energy.)
(Now, whenever someone has something to hide, it allows me to see the 'locks on their heart' that keep them from revealing that secret.)
(I can destroy those locks by presenting the right evidence, but if I'm careless with presenting, my Soul could be damaged... Luckily, that hasn't happened yet.)
(Looks like Thor only has two locks, so it shouldn't take much to figure out what he's hiding.)
...Hold on, wait. 'Asgard?'

Okay, listen, Mr. Wright, let's just get back on track, okay?

(Huh. I guess she doesn't want me to know about this 'Asgard,' either.)

Thor
Indeed... 'twas a grisly sight! The man, lying motionless leaned upon a broken table, bones broken and bruises across his body.
We can take solace, at least, that he died in glorious battle! He shall live on in the halls of Valhalla!

Were you the first to find the body, or did other people find it before you?
Thor
I believe I was the first. I was merely closing his eyes- he had died with them still open- when screams rang out, as others saw his beaten form and assumed I was the one to blame!
Even after I explained my actions, I was still taken in by your mortal authorities. I could have fought them off quite easily-

But you didn't because you didn't want to get in any more trouble, right?
Thor
Well, actually-

Sorry, sorry, hold on, let me explain. Thor doesn't know what he was doing during the murder because he doesn't know when the murder was.

Thor
...That's it? I suppose I was expecting something more... Existential.
Well, I can say with confidence that, no, I did not kill that man.

...Alright, Mr. Thor, I'll be taking your case. I might come back for some questions later, so be ready for that, alright?
(I still need to break those other locks, after all... But I don't have any evidence to present, and I doubt flashing my badge will do much.)
