Likewise, with the rest of his late classmates, Wolfgang was firmly seated on one of the singular sofas surrounding the TV broadcasting Edens Garden. And the person sitting on the couch that was directly in the corner but also next to Wolfgang was none other than his killer, Eva Tsunaka.
The rest of the group sat in their own individual chairs, staring wordlessly at the screen displaying Cassidy revealing herself to be the grand mastermind of the killing game.
First to speak was Kai, "Jeez man... I never would have thought." he murmured aimlessly, Ingrid and Ulysses seemed to let out a hum in agreement.
Wolfgang didn't look at her, but from the corner of his eyes he saw Eva apathetically staring at the screen, her balled up hand tucked under her chin. She looked unamused.
"I wonder what could've possibly motivated her to start all of this.." Ingrid murmured under her breathe, but it was loud enough for some of the people in the room to hear.
Wolfgang properly turned his face to directly look at Eva, who was still staring mindlessly at the screen, her eyelids fluttering as she seemed to be struggling to stay awake.
Cassidy and the current survivors go back and forth for what feels like 40 minutes, it was starting to sound like background noise to him even with all the others watching intently except for Eva, she looked like she was about to snooze.
"Everyone has secrets," He heard Cassidy chuckle sinisterly, "it's just some people were unfortunate enough to have it revealed, and some lucky enough to keep it to the grave."
Unfortunate people.. shes reffering to Miss Tsunaka, but surely the latter doesn't refer to—
Wolfgang felt his face get hot and sweat dribble down the side of his face.
"Like, take Lawyer man for example! or well, he really doesn't deserve to be called that does he..?" Omninously confirming Wolfgang's fear, Cassidy gave out a mischievous grin.
Suddenly Wolfgang saw from the corner of his eye, Eva perking up, she was interested in what Cassidy had to say, her eyes wide in curiosity.
"Like, you TOTALLY wont believe me buttttt... that guy doesnt even have a talent!"
Wolfgang was sure he could feel Eva's narrowed glare pierce him into smithereens.
"Wolfgang, what is she talking about?" Eva demanded coldly, Wolfgang reluctantly looked to his side to see Eva staring daggers directly at him.
Before Wolfgang could say anything in his defense, Eva swiftly turned back to the TV out of fear she would be missing out on what Cassidy would have to expose.
"The dude's a nepo baby who bought his talent. Isn't that crazy? He probably never handled a case, like ever."
From the corner of Wolfgang's eye, he saw Eva's eye twitch aggressively.
"Woah, seriously?!" Kai gawked at him from the side of the room, followed by his peers staring wide-eyed at him, Wolfgang slightly tilted his head down, he didn't even want to catch a glimpse of Eva, not even from a sidelong glance.
…..
"...Youve GOT to be kidding me," Wolfgang felt his face get hotter in shame when he heard Eva snap, her words completely dripped in venom.
"—you, you literally ostracized me in front of EVERYONE the moment you found out I lied about my talent," Wolfgang could only turn his head fearfully and saw that Eva had shot herself up from her chair with her hands balled into tight fists.
She looked like she was ready to kill him a second time.
"Miss Tsunaka, let me—"
"Like you've let me defend myself when I got exposed?!"
"Settle down! the trials still going on–"
"NO!" Eva's raspy voice cut through Toshiko's to a halt. "So, Wolfgang, did belittling me make you feel any better about your sorry existence?! Well atleast I had a talent! atleast I had a skill you didnt– you didnt have jackshit! What? Were you jealous when you thought I was the ultimate liar? did you silently think to yourself 'Damn, there can't be two of us here' what about when you found out about my real talent you shamed me in front of everyone 'Well Miss Tsunaka do you have anything you want to say for yourself?' remember that?!" She parroted what were once Wolfgang's words in an obnoxious mocking tone.
"Miss Tsunaka. First of all, I do not sound anything like that-"
"You used your supposedly superior talent just to look down on me and Damon like the gum in your shoe when in reality, you're just a dirty liar not any different than me."
Wolfgang's eyes desperately bounced around the room, looking for anyone to just please switch the damn topic only to see that everyone in the room was staring at him completely baffled.
"I... I was.. In a bad place, Miss Tsunaka, you wouldn't have understood the circumstances happening in life when I was offered the title of being the Ultimate Lawyer.." He started carefully.
"So what?! you just take it out on me instead? you think you're the only one in the world with problems? its not my fault you're useless-"
Suddenly Eva paused. Wolfgang prayed she had some sense to just let it go and figure out that this wasn't necessary until he heard a dark chuckle come from the mathlete.
"You— hehe— you really, went out of your way to give us business cards when you first introduced yourself," Eva pointed a finger directly at him while snickering.
Seeing Eva Tsunaka, of all people smile, let alone laugh was already uncanny enough for Wolfgang but to see her clutching her abdomen laughing at him, he felt embarrassed, to say the least.
"You were— you were literally hooting and hollering so emotionally when it came to solving the case for— keeheehee! Cara, a literal dummy! You really did all of that knowing you were a fraud–" Eva didn't even properly finish her sentence as giggles suddenly ascended to a full on cackle.
For once in a hot minute he didn't feel completely isolated as he saw everyone else's face look extremely unnerved staring as the mysterious, reserved, mathlete laughed her ass off. He silently thanked her in his head as now the other students were slowly forgetting about the bigger elephant in the room.
Well aren't you mature, Miss Tsunaka. Wolfgang deadpanned at her as she continued to laugh at his face while she settled back in her seat.
As time passes on with her erratic laughter the other students eventually turn their attention back to the TV showing Diana and Cassidy arguing back and forth about god knows what.
Wolfgang tried to do the same but it was really difficult to focus when Eva was literally still giggling right next to him too. All Wolfgang could do was frown at the screen while trying to ignore Eva's amusement for the rest of the trial.
