Bright: dancing

Summary:

They dance at someone's wedding.

Work Text:

"Is this how you imagined this would go?" Frank asked.

Robby saw an oncoming couple and steered them a little to the right in a delicate escape maneuver that Frank followed easily. "What, us dancing so smoothly?"

The song changed to something even slower and Frank shifted more into Robby, leaning on him, slowing them down into a swaying embrace. He didn't answer the question.

Over Frank's shoulder from across the room, Robby caught his friend looking over and got an approving nod. How far he'd come, he thought, dancing with another man—or anyone, really—so intimately in a crowd, showing his love so freely.

"Us, in public," he murmured eventually, close to Robby's ear. His mind had gone there as well, it seemed.

"Frank…"

"Don't," Frank told him. They were long past apologies for what had happened.

If he was honest, Robby hadn't thought they could fix things enough for this to happen at all.

"Oh." At the same time, Frank did that little squeeze he did to get Robby's attention. "I just remembered. Someone asked me how I knew the bride and groom earlier."

"What did you tell them?"

"Through my partner, I told them." Frank tipped his head back to be able to look at Robby. Blue eyes met his, mischievous. "My very handsome, gorgeous, loving boyfriend, who invited me here and got us an expensive room in the hotel."

"Aren't you lucky?" Robby rumbled.

"I am. He snores when he comes home from his evenings out with Jack and steals my cookies, but he's a good egg."

"A good egg," Robby repeated. How very Great Gatsby of Frank.

"Mmhm." Frank's bedroom eyes were twinkling. "And who says things like 'Haven't you had enough dancing for tonight' so I can answer 'Why, yes, we should…"

"Retreat to our chambers?"

"Exactly." Frank smiles widely. "Our suite where we can continue our dance in private."

Robby nodded. "Alright. Let's say goodnight to Bella and we can go."

The song switched again and Frank held him still, just when he'd been about to disentangle them to go over to the bride and groom.

"Hold on, this is… one last one."

Robby pressed a kiss to Frank's cheek and swayed them closer to the middle of the floor where it was darker and the light show would be better. "One more." One more dance with his love in his arms was no hardship.
