🌊⋆。𖦹 °.🐚⋆❀˖°🫧

Cold water splashes Gon’s face the moment he drifts off. He splutters, coughing violently as his fingers fly to his freezing face. He tries to wipe the water away, but it’s a useless attempt—his hands are just as soaked.

“Wha-“ Gon coughs again, fingers wiping helplessly at his mouth. “What the hell, Killua?!” The dark-haired boy yells, his head darting to the silver-haired menace who’s currently cackling from a few feet away.

“What?” Killua smirks mischievously, his lips forming into a cheeky grin afterwards. “Be on your guard!”

“You’re such an idiot!” Gon exclaims, his entire face flushing with embarrassment.

Killua sticks his tongue out to tease him even more, but he later regrets it when Gon attacks him with a harsh, freezing splash of water straight into his mouth.

He chokes out the water, spluttering and coughing aggravates, his chest tightening as his lungs betrayed him. “Gon-“ Killua tries to yell out, but he’s abruptly cut off by another loud, exaggerated cough.

Gon hates how stupidly good he looks with wet hair. His cheeks turn pink, heart racing at the gorgeous sight in front of him, but the moment Killua starts to recover, he starts to wade away, giggling mischievously.

“Where are you going, Gon?!” Killua snarls, chasing after him, the water rippling across the rest of the pool. “Come here!”

“No!” Gon laughs loudly and the sound is so ridiculously sweet, the perfect mixture of bubbling waves and joy. “Not until you catch me!”

Killua narrows his eyelids. Challenge accepted.

“Oh, you’re so dead,” he barks out a laugh, his eyes locking onto his target. Killua lunges at him, laughing mercilessly through it as Gon tries to scramble away, his legs heavy against the water. His cheeky giggles are cut off once Killua splashes his face again, blinding his vision, eyes burning from the chlorine.

“Wait!” Gon wheezes, completely out of breath, hands desperately flailing in the moonlight as he tries to defend himself. “I-I can’t see!-“

And then Killua’s hands grab his waist.

Gon’s breath hitches. His achy eyelids open and his pupils grow wide.

The silver-haired boy tugs him close, his chest rising and falling against his as he laughs quietly.

“Got you,” Killua murmurs, a husky chuckle following. He doesn’t even notice how close they are.

Gon can feel the heat radiating off of him, and his senses are overwhelmed. He’s suddenly hyperaware of everything, his heart thudding so loudly he’s sure Killua can feel it.

Killua raises an eyebrow at his silence, tilting his head in confusion. He takes in Gon’s adorably flushed expression, the way his eyes are blown wide as if a deer caught in headlights. He’s stiff, completely still in his arms.

Then it hits him like a wave. Oh.

Killua’s cheeks burn. He yanks his arms away, clearing his throat violently as he averts his gaze, wiping a hand down his reddened face. “S-Sorry,” he stammers, wading backwards.

“N-No, it’s okay!” Gon squeaks, his voice cracking just a fraction. He slaps a palm to his mouth, mentally cursing at himself for sounding like a completely lovestruck mouse. What the hell is wrong with me?!

Killua swallows hard, and he suddenly wishes the saliva would burn the insides of his stomach. “Let’s uh…take a break, yeah?” He coughs, his trembling hands motioning to the wall of the pool.

Gon nods vigorously, his face burning with embarrassment. The two flustered boys wade gently towards the wall, heartbeats pounding uncontrollably in their eardrums.

It’s quiet now. The chaos from earlier has now dissolved into a silent, lingering moment. The only sound that can be heard is the waterfall rushing silently as it merges into the large pool, foamy bubbles forming on the water. They lean against the wall of the pool, shoulder to shoulder, basking in the silence, cheeks shyly tinted pink as they avert each other’s gazes. The moonlight showers over them, caressing the mixture of golden and pale skin.

Gon taps Killua’s palm underneath the water. Killua does the same to him. His face burns as he builds the courage to interlock their fingers, his thumb gently caressing Gon’s knuckles.

Gon shyly looks at him, brown eyes beautifully glistening in the moonlight. Killua’s heart swells in his chest, and it threatens to burst into a meadow of lovesick butterflies. Then, Gon looks away, blushing shamelessly.

“Hey,” Killua murmured, his voice husky and low. “Why are you hiding?”

Gon shakes his head, nervous laughter bubbling out of him. “I-I’m not!” He exclaims, but he’s still not looking at the silver-haired boy.

Killua raises an eyebrow in skepticism, his lips twitching slightly. “...You’re not even looking at me.”

Gon looks at him, finally, but then darts his head down as he laughs once more, awkwardly staring at his hands through the water. Killua stares at him lovingly, not pushing it.

They’ve barely started going out after all, only for a few months. And yet, despite only six months, it felt as if they’ve known each other for centuries.

Gon already knows that Killua prefers chocolate milk over regular white milk. Killua knows that Gon always prefers his steak with a side of steamed vegetables, at least, according to his aunt Mito. Gon knows how Killua’s voice softens whenever he’s around him. Killua knows how adorably flustered Gon gets whenever he looks at him for too long.

And they both know they’re in too deep.

“You don’t have to hide,” Killua murmured, his ears turning pink as he hesitates for a second. “...I like looking at you.”

The dark-haired boy’s heart flutters in his stomach as he registers those words. For a second, he doesn’t know what to say. Gon only looks at him, his flushed lips forming into a sweet, coy smile. “...You do?” He softly asks.

Underneath that gentle tone, uncertainty lingers, and he’s not sure why he feels that way, unsure of how Killua really feels. Why would Killua choose him? Of all people? It doesn’t make sense. It never really has.

Killua holds his gaze, the water splashing gently as he steps closer to him. Gon feels the warmth of his skin, and suddenly, he’s hyperaware of how close they are. And God, Killua looks beautiful. His cerulean eyes shine gorgeously in the rays of the moon, and the silver light caresses every sharp line of his features. Killua tilts his head slightly, eyelids narrowing as he continues to stare at the only person who makes his heart race uncontrollably.

“Why wouldn’t I?” The silver-haired boy murmured.

Gon’s face flushes.

Killua laughs softly from his nose, his slender fingers coming up to move a wet strand from his blushing face.

Gon’s heart is pounding so, so much it threatens to burst out of his ribcage. He can’t think. The only thing his mind is screaming at this moment is Killua Killua Killua.

And he’s all he ever thinks about. On summer nights just before bed, cool, dewy mornings, and hot lazy afternoons.

“...You’re my boyfriend,” Killua murmured, his voice small and laced with a hint of bashfulness. He cups Gon’s face, his slender thumb brushing the flushed skin on his cheek. “...So, why wouldn’t I like looking at you?”

Boyfriend. Gon swallows a hot lump of saliva. The silence stretches between them, heavy and sweet, broken only by the soft drip-drip of water falling from Killua's silver hair onto the surface of the pool. Gon doesn't look away. Instead, his wide, dark eyes track the way the pink on Killua's ears is rapidly spreading down his neck.

The water gently ripples around them, reflecting the white rays of the moon as they breathe. Boyfriend. For the first time, the uncertainty in Gon’s heart melts away. Killua’s tender words confirmed what he so desperately tried to deny.

He was his. Always and forever.

“...I dunno,” The dark-haired boy mumbled, going back to looking at the water again, despite a heavy weight leaving his shoulders. The water lapped gently against his chest as he took a shallow breath. “...I just…”

Killua looks at him, eyes half lidded and glistening with a pure, unadulterated love. He doesn’t push against the current, only drifts within it, content to let the water guide them closer, inch by slow inch, until their breaths are mingling in the space between them. The silver-haired boy tilts his head just a fraction more, his fingers lingering at the nape of Gon's neck now.

“Just…what?” His lips curve into a small, amused smile.

Gon glances up, his breath catching in his throat as their noses barely touch. Killua is so close to him, and he can’t help but stare into his beautiful, soulful eyes. His heart is overflowing with so much love that he yearns to put into words, but it’s so overwhelming it feels like putty in his hands.

So, Gon does the most not-Gon thing of him to do. He takes Killua’s hands, pulls him flush against his chest, and leans in, pressing a shy kiss onto his lips. Right on the center.

Killua’s eyes grew wide.

“…I don’t get what you see in me,” Gon murmured softly against his lips. “That’s all.”

The silver-haired boy’s face softened and his other hand reached to rest on his shoulder, his thumb tracing soothing circles on his collarbone. “Then…” Killua’s sentence trailed off as his pool colored eyes darted between Gon’s caramel-like gaze and flushed lips. “Why don’t I just show you?”

Gon’s cheeks bloom peony pink. “H-Huh?-”

Killua kisses him again, swallowing every embarrassed sound that bubbles out of him. Their lips move in sync, heartbeats thudding loudly in their rising and falling chests, threatening to burst into the pool and color the water an enamored shade of cherry.

Gon’s head is completely spinning and yet all he can focus on is the way Killua’s thumb brushes his cheek as if cradling something sacred.

And maybe he is. To him, he’s everything. He’s all Killua could ever ask for.

His hands tremble as they reach, reach, and reach until they’re on his shoulders, clutching him tightly in an attempt to anchor himself. Gon feels as if the more they kiss, the more he’s going to sink deeper into the pool of love. Would Killua do that too? Swim down for him?

His question is answered without a single word. He can feel it in the way his hand moves from his face to his waist, tugging him closer as if attempting to merge their bodies together.

Their lips break apart with a soft chu, their mouths shimmering underneath the moonlight. They’re panting now, completely overwhelmed, deeply consumed in this moment as they gaze into each other’s eyes, two pools intertwining in red waves.

Killua’s lips tremble as they part, his breath shaking as he speaks. “I love you.”

Gon’s sinking now.

And Killua is drowning.

“I love you,” Killua repeats, swallowing a hot lump of saliva, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “I love you so much, Gon, and I want to show you in so many different ways.”

Gon’s lower lip wobbles with emotion, but he can’t drown just yet. Not when Killua is saying those words he so badly yearned to hear since forever. “I love you too,” he admits with a watery smile, a soft shaky chuckle escaping from his tightened chest. “…I love you so, so much, Killua.”

Killua doesn’t know what else to do except to tug him back into the current, wet kisses washing over him completely, so so sweetly.

And Gon willingly dives in, his arms wrapping around his neck as he tugs him closer, deepening the kisses with a shy hum. Killua swallows it greedily, and when Gon parts his lips, granting his teeth access—

“EWWWWWWWW!”

Their mouths stiffen.

“DUDE!” A loud, completely aggravated and displeased Zushi screams from across the pool. “GET A ROOM!”

Gon scrambles apart from his boyfriend, making a sound that’s way too similar to a half-dead bird. Oh my God. Did he—did he see everything?! HOW LONG HAS ZUSHI BEEN THERE?! Was he there the entire time?! Gon is absolutely mortified and now he really wishes the pool would drown him now. What. The. Fuck?

Killua on the other hand is downright furious. His fingers are clenched into tight, fuming fists, cerulean eyes practically throwing daggers at the boy across from them. “What the hell, Zushi!?”

“I SHOULD BE ASKING YOU THAT.” Zushi roared from the other side, dramatically pointing at the two flustered boys in the pool. “I get kicked out by Alluka for fifteen minutes just because you two WANNA SUCK FACE?!”

Gon sinks for real this time.

“Can you not say it like that?” A clearly disgusted Kalluto grimaces as they step out from the elegant house, their ravenous hair wet from a recent shower. “…It’s gross.”

“THEY’RE GROSS!” Zushi points to Killua and Gon again.

Killua groans, burying his flushed face into his hands. Out of everyone, his younger sibling Kalluto had to SEE THIS?!

“Who is?” Alluka pokes her head out, her brunette locks shimmering in the moonlight. Zushi crosses his arms, pouting dramatically as he huffs, a hmph escaping from him. “Your older brother and his little boyfriend,” the brown-haired male mutters, looking like a five-year-old who got his pool time cut way too early.

“Oh come on,” Alluka sighs, shaking her head as she plants her hands on her hips. “They’re not gross! They’re cute!”

“I BEG TO DIFFER.” Zushi deadpans.

“GET OUT!” Killua growls.

“Yeah, he’s pissed,” Kalluto murmured, an exasperated sigh following after. They stretch their neck nonchalantly, looking completely unbothered by the scene. “I’m going back to watching Park South. Have fun. Bleach is in Leorio’s bathroom in case Zushi gets murdered.”

“WHAT?!”

Without another word, Kalluto turns on a heel and slips back inside, the glass door sliding shut with a definitive click.

“WAIT, NO! Don't leave me with HIM!” Zushi yells, his eyes widening in genuine terror as he looks back at the pool. “SAVE ME, KALLUTO!”

Killua is already lifting himself up onto the ledge, water streaming off his pale shoulders, looking less like a boyfriend who just got interrupted and more like an assassin who just found his target. The look in his cerulean eyes is purely homicidal.

“Alright, time to go, Zushi!” Alluka chirps happily. Before the boy can even take a step backward, she grabs the back of his collar with surprising, effortless strength and begins dragging him toward the house as if he were a growling chihuahua.

“HEY! Let go! I can walk on my own- Alluka, seriously, he's gonna throw a kick at me! GON, HELP ME!” Zushi shrieks, his sneakers squeaking loudly against the concrete.

Gon, still submerged up to his nose, can only offer a weak, apologetic wave from the safety of the water. He is entirely powerless to stop the Zoldyck sibling eviction process.

“Bye-bye, guys! Have fun!~” Alluka calls out with a bright, sunny wave of her free hand, completely ignoring Zushi’s desperate thrashing as she throws him through the door and shuts it behind them with a loud BANG.

The heavy silence washes over them again, broken only by the soft, steady rush of the waterfall. Killua sinks back into the pool with a tiny grunt, his shoulders tense and his ears still a throbbing crimson. The silver-haired boy lets out an exhausted sigh, the murderous aura leaving his body. Now, instead of looking like a fearsome assassin, he looks embarrassed, cheeks flushed under the moonlight. He wades back to the wall, but he doesn’t look at Gon immediately. Instead, his eyes are staring intently at the ripples that he’s making as he moves.

“...Idiots,” Killua grumbles under his breath, though the anger is entirely gone, replaced by a shy, nervous tremor in his voice. He reaches out underwater, his fingers searching blindly until they find Gon's hand again. He squeezes tightly.

Gon does the same despite how much he’s blushing. He lets out a giggle, the tension from earlier completely dissipating as he leans his shoulder against Killua’s once more. “...They know how to ruin a moment, huh?”

The silver-haired boy finally looks up, his lips twitching into a small, reluctant smile despite the residual pink on his cheeks. He steps closer, closing the distance Zushi had forced between them, until their chests are nearly touching again.

“Yeah,” Killua murmurs, his gaze dropping down to Gon’s lips for a split second before lifting back up to his eyes, the heavy, sweet atmosphere wrapping around them once more.

Gon stares at him, a coy smile forming on his lips, eyes glistening with anticipation. Killua sighs softly at the sight.

“…Where were we?”

🌊⋆。𖦹 °.🐚⋆❀˖°🫧

Inside, Leorio is practically howling with laughter at the words that escape from Zushi.

“You-” He chokes on another loud cackle, wheezing so loudly in the kitchen it sounds like he’s battling some kind of lung disease.

“Oh my God.” Kurapika rolls his eyes at the horrid sound of it, handing him a glass of water with an irritated expression. “You sound like you’re dying.”

“Because—” he wheezes, “—Zushi caught them—” Leorio bursts into laughter again.

The blond glances at Zushi, who’s pouting dramatically on the couch with crossed arms beside a giggling Alluka and a Kalluto who looks completely done with this ridiculous conversation.

“Zushi caught them…what?” Kurapika raises an eyebrow, leaning against the marble counter as he urges Leorio to continue his conversation. Not that he’s interested. He couldn’t care less about whatever over-the-top things teenagers do when they’re in love.

“Zushi—” Leorio pauses to let out a massive, ugly cackle, ”—Zushi caught them kissing!” He bursts into loud, obnoxious laughter all over again, slamming a fist onto the counter.

Zushi groans, throwing his head back as he does so. “It’s not funny! It’s GROSS!” He emphasizes dramatically, slumping against the kitchen counter.

Kurapika doesn't even blink. He just stares at the older man with a look of profound exhaustion, his fingers rubbing at his temples in annoyance. He desperately needs a vacation—a proper one. “That’s it?” he asks, his voice entirely flat before he takes a sip of his smoothie.

“No, you don’t get it!” Leorio gasps for air, wiping a tear away from his eye. “Zushi screamed, and Alluka had to drag him away! Killua looked like he was seconds away from killing him on the spot!”

“Hence why I said there was bleach in your bathroom,” Kalluto commented.

That only makes Leorio laugh even more.

Kurapika shakes his head, but despite his best efforts to remain detached from the conversation, the way the corners of his mouth twitch threatens to give him away.

“Can you guys stop talking shit?” Killua grumbles as he steps into the kitchen with a scowl, a fresh clean hoodie hugging his slumping figure. He looks like a grumpy kitten who had just been awoken from his beauty sleep. “I can hear you guys all the way from upstairs."

“Why, so you can keep making out with your boyfriend?” Zushi deadpans.

Kalluto gags. Leorio cackles so loudly Kurapika’s eardrums almost burst.

Alluka jabs Zushi in the stomach with her elbow, causing him to wheeze and cough violently as he cowers in pain. “Stop being mean!” She loudly exclaims, giving him a look that says she is so done with his childish behavior.

Killua’s face turns scarlet red. Whether it’s from boiling anger or shameless embarrassment, Zushi can’t tell. “I’m seriously going to kill you,” he growls, his cerulean eyes searching for the nearest knife in the kitchen. Where the hell does Kurapika keep his knives?!

“It’s okay, big brother.” Alluka smiles sweetly at him and his momentary anger fades, skin going back to its normal tone. “Nanika thinks you two are adorable.”

“Thanks, Alluka,” Killua mutters, stuffing his hands in his pockets, attempting to appear unbothered but the flush in his ears says otherwise.

Leorio chuckles slightly, adjusting the posture of his glasses. “Yeah. About time you guys are together,” the man grins, slapping the silver-haired boy’s back so hard Killua wheezes for air involuntarily. “Been pining for years now!”

Killua shoves his hand away, clearing his throat loudly. “I dunno what you’re talking about,” he mutters.

“Sure,” Kurapika huffs, setting his strawberry smoothie onto the counter with a soft clink. He looks at Killua's exhausted, flushed face and gives him a subtle, sympathetic nod toward the doorway. “It is getting late,” the blond-haired male announces, his voice smooth and commanding enough to cut through Leorio’s lingering chuckles. “I believe it's time we all head to bed. Killua, you and Gon should get some rest.”

Killua doesn't need to be told twice. “Yeah, whatever,” he grumbles, already turning on his heel to make a swift escape back upstairs before anyone else can bring up the pool.

But just as his foot hits the first step of the staircase, a muffled, cheeky voice echoes from the kitchen island.

“You didn’t deny what I said!”

“SHUT UP, ZUSHI!”
