   Summary

For Leonard McCoy, the ship has always been complicated. For Jim Kirk, command has always required distance. And for Joanna McCoy, belonging aboard the Enterprise on a temporary secondment means seeing both men more clearly than either of them anticipated — and testing a friendship already carrying more weight than anyone admits.
