Dr. Grace

Hello Reddit, I'm Ryland Grace! I was a Science teacher at Grover Cleveland Middle School and I worked on the Petrova Taskforce / Project Hail Mary, but some of you probably know me as the scientist on the Hail Mary. Ask me anything!

Recently, I've noticed a few instances whereby I'm temporarily able to access some parts of the internet in real time. Somehow. Reddit is one of them. I don't know how or why. This post is also a means to test the limits of my internet access and see if this post magically gets uploaded (I do know that my very limited internet access doesn't allow me to make a new account so PLEASE ignore my old posts). I know this sounds fake. I know this is unbelievable. I can hardly believe it myself. It's been years since the Hail Mary launched, and yes, I'm still in space right now. But if this post goes through then I should be able to reply to your questions—I am not sure how long it would take me to reply though, so please be patient 👍

Some important things I must mention:

Captain Yáo Li-Jie and Olesya Ilyukhina passed away on our way to Tau Ceti. They were the bravest people I knew. May they rest in peace.
I… met an alien. Seriously. He's from 40 Eridani A b, but I just call his home Erid. His name is Rocky, he's my best friend
Spoilers: we found the solution to the astrophage problem!!!!! The solution is a natural predator of astrophage. I named it Taumoeba. Before anyone calls the name lame, sorry I'm not very good at naming things. I hope you all stick with the name though—there's a certain elegance to the simplicity of the name, don't you all agree?
Taumoeba + video logs with detailed instructions regarding the handling of Taumoeba will be reaching Earth in a few years, if my calculations are correct! I can explain some science stuff here too if anyone wants me to.

Sure! I won't go into detail but this is basically what happened:

Woke up and found out that Yáo and Ilyukhina had passed away in their comas.
Had amnesia as a result of the coma and it took a while for me to gradually remember stuff
When I reached Tau Ceti, I found out that the system did have a Petrova Line but the sun there wasn't dimming.
Met Rocky—he was at Tau Ceti for the same reason as me
Went to Tau Ceti e (we named the planet Adrian) to retrieve samples
Both of us nearly died when we went to retrieve more samples (big whoooooopsies 😅), but we managed to obtain some samples of Taumoeba which I bred to increase its nitrogen resistance
The nitrogen-resistant Taumoeba is on its way to you! Earth is saved!!!!!!!

i reverse image searched the pictures. they're completely new. i ran the video and the pictures through multiple ai detectors. all of the detectors said they’re not ai. why would a fake dr grace go to so much trouble fabricating pictures and videos, only to write the most unconvincing post ever? the story is so far-fetched that it actually might be him.

ok. i dont know how u came up with such scarily realistic proofs but u are definitely not ryland grace. dude. u say u met an alien. u say u can access reddit even though u are god knows how many light years away. u provide no explanation for this, except for claiming it 'somehow' happened. listen to yourself. does ANY of that make ANY sense?

saying that yao and ilyukhina are dead is too far. that's real messed up dude.

On a side note, are you my student? Only my students call me Mr. Grace

In no particular order:

Abby - I remember she rode horses competitively but I'm not sure if it's something she still does. If she does, I hope she wins every game!
Olivia - Told me once she wanted to work for NASA, I hope she managed to achieve that goal! She's the only person I knew who shared my love for sour skittles. No one else loved sour skittles more than us.
Rekha - She really wanted to be a lawyer if I'm not wrong. Her grades were all excellent, except for Math which fell just a little behind—but we all have weaknesses and Math is a very exhausting subject!!!!
Jeff - He was in the Science club (that I was also managing). I remember he told me he got a telescope for his 12th birthday! Showed me a few pictures he took of Jupiter and Saturn. So cool.
Trang - I'm looking at your username… and not to dox you or anything, but are you Trang? Is the 1001 in your username your birthday? Because I'm pretty sure that’s Trang's birthday written in the DD/MM format: 10 Jan :)
Larry - Topped the class for Science if I remember correctly. His dream school was MIT because he wanted to major in Physics and get a PhD!
Regina - She was an avid reader. I saw her reading lots of fantasy books. I remember I told her about a book called the Will of The Many. She asked me to read The Murderbot Diaries series because it was science fiction! Haven't read it though
Kevin - He's on the track team and he was one of the fastest runners in the whole school. Think he got gold for an inter-school event once!
