Work Text:

The Hermitcraft meetings were not long, at most about 30 minutes.

But for Tango, that meeting seemed endless.

He was feeling so bad there, his stomach hurt, his head was spinning, his vision was blurry, he was awful, to say the least.

He just wanted to be able to return to his base and get some sleep.

He probably wouldn't even have made it to the base before passing out.

But Xisuma kept talking, then Doc started talking, then Ren, how many more people would speak before this meeting ended?

Unfortunately for Tango, many people are still talking

Pearl was standing beside him, seemingly noticing Tango's distress.

"Hey Tango, are you alright? You look so pale you've seen a ghost," Pearl nudged Tango lightly and whispered to him so that no one else in the room could hear.

Tango opened his mouth to answer, but closed it again immediately; his mouth was so dry, his vision was fading too quickly.

He was going to faint, and he knew it; there was no way he could escape. The only thing he could perhaps do was warn Pearl, but he didn't have time to do that, because his vision quickly went completely dark and he was unconscious on the ground.

"Tango?! Someone help here!" Pearl crouched down to Tango's level, who was now on the ground. She checked for a pulse, and there it was; he was still breathing. Pearl would also take his temperature, but she definitely didn't know the temperature of a Netherborn.

The meeting room was quiet for just a second, until everyone saw a Tango on the floor and Pearl calling for help.

Xisuma quickly moved to Pearl's side to check on Tango as well.

"Does he have a pulse? A fever? Is he conscious? Anything!" X moved Tango into a slightly more comfortable position, resting his gourd on his legs.

"Yes, he has a pulse, but I don't know how to check the temperature of someone who is normally warmer." Pearl ran her hands over Tango's face, trying to find anything that would indicate a fever or something like that.

Some of the hermits were leaving the room to try and give Tango and those who were helping, or at least trying to, more space.

"Move aside!" Impulse appeared next to X, positioning itself between X and Pearl.

Besides Tango, Impulse was the only other Netherborn, but instead of having hair that was literally on fire or a tail that also caught fire, Impulse was a dragon, definitely someone who could tell if Tango had a fever or not.

Impulse placed his hand on Tango's forehead, turned his palm over, and removed his hand from his forehead.

"He definitely has a fever, and a high one at that. Help me get him on the table, at least until he wakes up." Impulse slipped one arm under Tango's legs and the other around the back of his neck, quickly lifting him and placing him on the white table in the center of the room.

X took a cloth and poured some of the water from his bottle onto it, placing the cloth on Tango's forehead to try and lower his fever.

Impulse, X, and Pearl now looked at each other, unsure what to do next.

"We've done everything we could, all that's left is to wait for him to wake up." X sat down in a chair near him, Pearl too, but Impulse stood for a few minutes staring at Tango, perhaps fear or worry, perhaps both.

When Tangl finally woke up, the light was dim in the room; outside, it was already sunset. He was on top of a table, with a cloth on his forehead and covered with a coat, probably Impulse's, judging by the black and yellow colors.

Tango looked around and found only Impulse already staring at him.

Where were all the other hermits?

"Hey Tangs, how are you? Better?" Impulse approached the table, removed the cloth from Tango's forehead, and replaced it with his own hand; the fever had subsided somewhat.

"Where are the others?" His voice barely came out; what did was hoarse. How long had it been since he drank water? He didn't know.

"After you fainted, most people left to give you space, only me, X, and Pearl remained. X had to leave to take care of his things, Pearl also had to leave, she had chickens to feed, and only I stayed. I wanted to wait for you to wake up to take you back to your base," Impulse said all this with a somewhat sad, but also relieved smile on his face.

"Thank you" Tango whispered as he closed his eyes to go back to sleep; he was still very tired and in pain.

Tango felt Impulse pick him up and cover him again with his coat, shielding his face from the sun.

He felt Impulse begin to walk toward the exit of the room, sleep already pulling him away; the last thing he felt before falling asleep was Impulse taking off back to base.

So I can finally rest.
