Chapter Text

Life is amazing.

That isn't how stuff related to Peter Parker starts, right? Well screw you Parker luck because you are no longer effective!

After the multiversal fiasco at the statue of Liberty, Peter Parker resumed his life from scratch. With May gone and his memory erased from everyone's mind, he truly had no shoulder to lean on.

He managed to get himself the necessary documents required to actually appear like Peter Benjamin Parker and not Peter 'The-World-Has-No-Trace-Of-Me' Parker.

Now, he goes to MIT while keeping a safe distance away from MJ and Ned in the morning, sells Spider-Man's photos to cranky old Jameson at noon, interns for doctor Connors at Stark industries for some more money in the evening and then spends his night swinging as your classic red and blue spider-themed vigilante.

That is exactly what he is doing right now.

"Dude look, I was having a great day, alright?" Spider-Man dodges the Kangaroo's kick.

"Petty thefts, only one hostage situation and I didn't even have to face my past!" He ducks under his elbow.

"Quiet, Spider-Man. I'm stealing!" He shushes him, hauling a bag full of money his shoulder.

He hears the small click of his phone he had hidden before he announced his presence to the Kangaroo, a street level thief with jumping and boxing abilities. Must have been a good picture, he decides.

Spider-Man facepalms mid-fight, "What did I ever do to get you in my rogue gallery?"

"...Interfere?" Kangaroo genuinely asks despite trying to escape.

"Ah, makes sense." Spider-Man shoots a web at the bag, tugging it out of the purple thief's hands.

"Give me that!" Kangaroo jumps off the bank's roof to retrieve his stolen money.

"Would you look at that? I stole what you stole from the bank! That's so much 'Stole'." Spider-Man leaps to the other side of the building, avoiding getting crushed by the man.

Kangaroo runs forward, his fists already balled into punches when out of nowhere, he sees a small arrow like thing attach to his neck.

"What– ah!" He collapses on the ground, feeling electricity course through his veins.

"I usually don't resort to such serious methods." Spider-Man crawls up the building's side, making eye contact with a SHIELD agent.

"I do," Hawkeye says, "Fury wants to talk with you, Spidey. Did you piss him off again?" He puts an arrow back into his quiver.

"I told you that he isn't the real Fury," Spider-Man says.

"Hawkette told me that Miss Marvel can confirm it's Fury as Captain Marvel said so," Hawkeye explains.

"Considering that this 'real Fury' is lurking right there–" Spider-Man points to an alleyway where barely anything is visible, "–I don't think I should talk more about how he is not the real one."

Hawkeye shrugs, "Talk with him. I promised Laura I'll go back early today."

"Bye, Katniss!" Spider-Man waves the man goodbye as the Archer parkours his way home.

He looks around to make sure there are no eyes on him and then quietly slinks into the alleyway.

"Nicky! How have you been doing? You know, with skrulls and stuff," He greets, sitting by sticking on a wall.

"Spider-Man, It's director Fury to you. I'm not a Skrull," The man says, not moving an inch from his place.

"Of course. Did you lose your second eye in another legendary battle and don't want to show your face with two eye patches hanging on it? Shed some light on yourself, director."

"I did not lose an eye, no. In fact, I lost my first eye because Goose scratched it out," Fury says curtly.

Spider-Man's masked eyes widen for a brief moment before he jumps down and stands straight. "Director Fury. I didn't know you finally came back."

Fury gives him a small smile. "Spider-Man, never ceasing to impress me. I'm glad that you would have tried to manipulate my Skrull version if he were here." He holds his hand out.

"Oh, everybody just loooves me. You know, spider charm." He shakes the older man's hand.

"Spider charm, huh? Do you think you can actually use it? " Fury asks, his voice becoming graver.

Spider-Man raises an eyebrow though it's hidden by his mask. "Are you asking me to do something for you?"

Fury shrugs. "Consider it a favour being repaid because if you do what I ask you to, I'll ask my agents to stop trying to figure your identity out."

"You already tried and failed, Nicky. I keep up with your agents' shenanigans," Spider-Man says smugly. "Although, I'm flattered you care so much about me."

"I just need you to somehow connect all the superheroes and vigilantes around that are willing to be in connection with one another. That's it, Spider-Man." Fury rolls his eyes.

"That sounds pretty cool so I'll do it." He shrugs. "But why me? Hawkeye just left, you could have asked him."

"For instance, Hawkeye has no connection with Shang-Chi. He probably doesn't even know he exists. You, somehow... know everyone I need." Fury massages his temples.

Even the adults these days are so annoying... or maybe he just doesn't like requesting for help instead of commanding it.

"You sure I know everyone?" Spider-Man asks.

"Yes, you do. You even know that a Loki variant is currently holding all timelines together because of Doctor Strange." Fury says.

The director had some basic ideas about the TVA because of Deadpool constantly chattering about it. Therefore, he also found out about the timelines being held together in the form of the yggdrasil tree by none other than Loki.

Spider-Man simply knew it because Miss America told him. Her ability to travel to different universes had come in handy.

"I'm planning to start a group chat. How will Loki text?"

"He can conjure a smartphone and use speech-to-text or something. We don't have to worry about it." Fury waves his hand in dismissal.

"As you say, captain." Spider-Man starts crawling up the building.

"Director," Fury interjects.

"Aye aye, captain!" Spider-Man swings away into a distance.

Fury sighs in annoyance. "Vigilantes."
