Summary:

So Zeus is an asshat. We all know this. But in Greek myths he actually wasn't horrible so I put him through a redemption arc.

Or

Zeus realizes he messed up during God Games and apologizes to Athena.

Chapter 1: Athena's injury

Chapter Text

Dead.

Athena looked dead. No one could quite believe what just happened. Zeus struck her down.

Athena.

His favorite.

Apollo immediately ran to her once she stopped moving. He had already lost his son and he was not about to lose his older sister.

“Athena? Hello?”

Apollo was checking for signs of life but Athena wasn't responding.

“Father, may I take her to the infirmary?”

Zeus was on his throne. If he regretted his actions he showed no signs.

“You may Apollo. The rest of you are dismissed. I'll be in my chambers, Apollo let me know if her condition worsens.”

With that Zeus left the room and at the same time Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hera all rush over to the goddess of wisdom.

“She's not dead right Apollo?” Ares wasn't the god to be impatient surprisingly, but he looked about ready to bandage Athena himself.

“She'll be fine. Scarred, but fine.” Apollo paused for a moment, looking down at his older sister. “Ares, Hephaestus, help me carry her to the infirmary and be careful to touch her burns.”

Hephaestus and Ares both nod before helping Apollo carry Athena to the infirmary. Once they're there and Athena's on one of the beds, Apollo kicks everyone out of the room. After the other gods leave Apollo starts wrapping Athena's wounds.

“You're an idiot, you know that? Challenging dad like that. For what? Some mortal? Zeus above I would be yelling at you right now if you were awake.”

Apollo was quiet for a moment before he just started crying.

“I never should have agreed to that challenge. Maybe then this wouldn't have happened. Maybe then-”

“Apollo..?”

“Athena!”

Apollo practically jumped onto her, not really caring about the fact he was most definitely on her burns.

“I'm not dead. It'll take a lot more than father's wrath to kill me.”
