"Fuck, Max," Mike groaned.
"What?" She looked at him from where she was sitting on the ground across from him.
"Shit, okay. Have you ever, I don't know, fallen in love?"
Max looked at him. No, glared at him. "Seriously, Wheeler?" He shot her a puzzled glance, pulling off his Scoops Ahoy hat and throwing it somewhere. "I've been dating Lucas for, like, two years, you soggy waffle!" she exclaimed, launching her own cap at his face, which managed to land right on his nose before sliding off. "Wait," she leaned forward from her spot on the floor. "Why?"
"No reason—"
"Mike," she gritted out.
"Okay, okay, fine, shut up for a second. Just— you remember that day when... Will was... he was, like... I don't know— staring at Carl? From Calculus?"
"Yeah..?"
"I wanted him to look at me," he whispered, so low it was barely audible even in that tiny stall.
"But... Will's a boy."
He stared at her. He didn't say anything—didn't have to.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Oh."
"What?"
"Oh!"
"What?!"
"Oh, my God."
"Dude—"
"Oh, my God!"
"What?!"
"You love him! I knew it! You love Will!" she exclaimed, grinning at him.
"Sh," he shushed her a bit aggressively, pressing a finger against her lips to shut her up. Bad idea. She bit him, making him immediately pull his hand back, hissing through his teeth. "Ow! What are you on?"
"The real question here is— what are you on? Will?"
He kicked her shin, which caused her to let out a sharp bark of laughter which eventually turned into a sigh. "It's honestly kind of cute, though."
"What do you mean? What's cute?"
"You. And Will."
He glared at her, "Theres no me and—"
"You do know he loves you back, right?"
"Back? I never even mentioned being in— wait." He blinked rapidly, "What did you just say?"
She shrugged. "He always has. You've just always been way too thick-headed to notice," she said, leaning forward from where she'd slumped back down against the wall of the stall to rap her knuckles against his forehead thrice. He slapped her hand away, "Shut up, why don't you?"
She grinned at him, leaning back against the wall, "Nope."
