Work Text:
Shane was exhausted. He was on his way back from a shooting after a long day. That morning he had a video call with a big brand for a new project. After that he went to training and then physical therapy because his knee was hurting. Meniscus. But in the middle of the season Shane had to ignore the pain. Not because Coach said so. But because Shane hated to quit and stopping because of his knee felt like quitting. After physical therapy he drover over to Montreal for the shooting and now he was back in the car and almost home. All Shane wanted to do was lay down and not stand up again for the foreseeable future. But he was also hungry. That meant cooking because Ilya had been to dinner at his parent’s house. Shane groaned and let his head fall back against the headrest. He didn’t want to cook. But takeout wasn’t what he wanted either. So cooking was the only option. He could cook the turkey pasta with a salad. That was actually on the schedule for tomorrow, but there should still be enough left over. Okay. So getting home, to the bathroom and then instantly cooking. Ilya would probably still be at his parent’s house so he wouldn’t get help from Ilya.
Shane was turning into the driveway when he saw that the light in the kitchen was on. So Ilya was already at home and Shane wouldn’t have to cook alone. That made Shane’s mood already better. When Shane finally enter through the front door the smell of a freshly cooked meal wafted through the air.
“Solnyshko? Are you home?”
“Yes, baby.”
“Ah perfect! Dinner is ready!”
Shane walked into the kitchen to Ilya plating turkey paste and the side salad that was planned for tomorrow.
“You are hungry?” Ilya asked after Shane greeted him with a kiss on the cheek.
“Starving.”
“Good. Then sit down and eat, Lyubimyy.”
Shane was too relieved and too happy to argue so he sat down at the table while Ilya placed the food in front of him. Ilya plated himself a small serving and sat down next to Shane. After Shane had swallowed the first bite he had finally the energy to talk in full sentences again.
“I thought you would still be at my parent’s house.”
“Ah yes. But I knew my husband would be starving when he came home after this stressful day, so I said I had to cook dinner for my Shane. So Yuna send me home.”
“Oh thank you so much. I was already dreading to cook on the drive home. This dinner really saved me.”
“It’s what you do when you love someone.”
“Then I’m very happy to be loved by you.”
“And you don’t love me?” Ilya asked in faux outrage.
“You know that I love you, baby. How couldn’t I.”
“That’s true. I am best husband,” Ilya said proudly.
Shane looked at Ilya with heart eyes.
“You really are.”
