Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

It was around the middle of the day when Brittany realized she hadn't seen Lord Tubbington yet.

That wasn't too unusual. He would sometimes sleep under the bed.

She figured that's all it was and didn't give it much thought.

Then, it got later in the day, and he still hadn't turned up.

For her own peace of mind, she went to check under the bed, fully expecting to see him soundly asleep, and then she could just-

He wasn't there.

Nervousness formed in her gut.

She looked all over the apartment, figuring it couldn't be that hard to find a cat of his size.

Nothing.

Santana was out at work, and Quinn had been lying on the couch all day, not feeling well.

She didn't want to bother either of them, but she was really starting to worry.

She figured she'd tell Santana when she got home, and instead turned her attention to Quinn.

"Quinn?" she said, her voice shaking slightly. Despite how fatigued she was, Quinn could immediately tell something was off and sat up on the couch, swallowing back the nausea and dizziness that came with the shifting of positions.

"What's wrong?"

"Lord Tubbington's missing" Brittany said, biting her thumb nervously as she began to pace. Quinn frowned. She'd never particularly liked that cat, but she also knew how important he was to Brittany. Besides, she wasn't a monster. "I've looked all over for him!"

"It'll be okay" Quinn tried to reassure. "No one went outside today. He's gotta be somewhere in the house"

"What if he ran out when Santana left for work?"

"Brit, he's a twenty-five-pound cat. She would've noticed"

"What if he's..." Brittany shuddered. "What if he's dead, Quinn? What if-"

"Brit, babe, sit down" Quinn said, firm but gentle. Brittany did as she was told. "We'll find him, okay? He can't have gotten far"

"I just have a really bad feeling" Brittany told her. "Something feels really wrong about this"

Unsure of what else to say, Quinn wrapped her arms around the other woman.

It was rare to see Brittany this upset about something. It was a bit unnerving, honestly. She was usually the least emotional of the trio.

Quinn never thought she'd be finding herself wanting Lord Tubbington's presence, but here she was.

God, if you're listening, please make this cat turn up...
