“Go.” Tim hears a voice at the door. “Go talk to him, stop being stubborn.” Tim looks over at Lucy who is in the bed next to him. She is sitting up too looking towards the door.
(They both refused to be in separate rooms; it was bad enough they were in separate beds).
Tim sees Angela and Wesley in the doorway, Wesley looks in at him and he looks nervous. Really nervous.
Angela shoves him inside and then walks away. Wesley stands there and shoves his hands in his pockets. Tim glares at him, he has not forgotten that Wesley decided to take Everett on as a client.
Everett, the man who orchestrated the kidnapping from prison. The one who made sure Tim and Lucy were separated and tortured. Tim hasn’t forgotten that Wesley acted like he came to Tim because they were friends.
Hr hasn’t forgotten that Wesley did indeed have an ulterior motive in investigating Malcolm but didn’t bother telling anyone.
Wesley makes his way over to Lucy and turns his back to Tim. “I’m sorry.” Wesley says. Tim can’t see Lucy now (and it honestly pisses him off). “I didn’t know Everett was going to do this.”
“It’s okay.” Lucy says. Tim makes a noise. It most certainly is not okay. Wesley is lucky that he went to Lucy first. She was more emphatic and forgiving than him. “I know you didn’t know.” Wesley nods and Tim sees his shoulders are tense as he turns to look at Tim. Lucy gives him a warning look when Wesley moves out of the way.
Tim takes a deep breath, and lets it out. He knows Lucy and Angela wants him to forgive Wesley. He knows his fiancée didn’t necessarily agree with him kicking Wesley out of his office. She didn’t say anything (and honestly she would take Tim’s side) but he could tell by the disappointed look on her face.
Deep down Tim knows that Wesley didn’t know this would happen and he had no hand in it. But he was still mad because it did happen.
He thought he was going to lose Lucy for days. He thought that she was hurt or worse dead. He had no idea if she was okay or not.
He hated that feeling.
Maybe it was just left over anger and anxiety from everything that happened. He looks over at Lucy again who once again gives him a sharp look.
“I’m sorry,” Wesley says. “For not telling you why or my ulterior motive. I had no idea—”
“You can say that all you want.” Tim snaps. “But it did happen. Lucy was in danger because of Everett.”
“Tim.” Lucy says. He watches as she moves and gets out of the bed. “Stop being a stubborn ass. Wesley apologized.”
“You need to go lay down.” He tells her. Lucy just rolls her eyes, she was as stubborn as he was.
“Not until you forgive Wesley or at least listen to what he has to say.” She says. She limps past Wesley and shakes her head at Tim. Tim turns to look at Wesley.
“Do you still think I accepted the bribe?” He asks.
“I never did. I just had to make sure.” Wesley says. Lucy limps over to his bed, and bends down to press a kiss to his head. Tim reaches out and grabs onto her hand and gives it a squeeze. “I’m sorry. I know I made it seem like I believed you would do that.”
“You did.”
“I knew you didn’t.” Wesley says. Tim sighs softly and looks towards the door. Angela is now at the window watching. She looks as frustrated as Lucy.
Tim is being stubborn.
He will admit that, but he can’t simply just forgive Wesley. He knows it might be silly, but what he and Lucy went through… it was traumatic and a lot.
He is still shaken up from it, when they were rescued he didn’t let go of Lucy until the paramedics forced them apart. And even then, Tim had his eyes on her. It was only until the hospital that they were ripped apart and she was out of his eyesight.
It wasn’t Wesley’s fault but Everett somehow was able to get their location, was somehow able to orchestrate it.
It wasn’t completely Wesley’s fault but because of him. Because he took him on as a client, Everett got access to them.
Somehow. Some way.
Tim hates it, and he hates feeling this way about Wesley. Especially when Angela is not going to give up. He glances up again and sees Angela still looking at them. She eyes Tim with the same sharp look Lucy gave him.
He sighs, he is not going to win this one. He can be as stubborn as he wants but Wesley is here and apologizing. He is making the effort, and realistically Tim should make the effort too.
Tim takes a deep breath, looks at his fiancé first. He loves her so much, and he just wants to start the rest of his life with her. He looks at Angela next, the person who never gave up on finding them. He’s pretty sure she was the first to notice they were gone. Next he looks at Wesley, who is rocking back and forth it on his feet. He turns his head to look at Lucy and then back at Tim.
“Fine.” Tim says. “I know it wasn’t your fault. I get it. I appreciate your apology. I’m sorry I was so harsh.”
“I understand.” Wesley says and he looks relieved. Angela steps inside the room now, shaking her head at Tim.
“Your fiancé is ridiculous.” Angela says to Lucy. Tim gives her a offended look. Lucy just nods and runs her hand through his hair. It’s comforting, he feels her ring on his skin and he can’t believe she said yes.
(Thank god she did).
“I know he is,” Lucy says. “But I love him.” Angela just shakes her head, and Tim looks at Wesley.
He wants to still be upset with Wesley. He wants to ignore him, and break out of the hospital and go home with Lucy but—
There is no reason to be mad at him. He apologized, and they were safe. Everett was dealt with. They were safe.
Tim would deal with all his feelings later, he’s sure they will be a lot of them. Angela gives him a nod and Wesley reaches out to shake Tim’s hand. Tim takes it and manages a small smile for Wesley.
Wesley is at the door when Tim calls out to him, “Wesley.” He says. Wesley freezes and turns to look at him.
“Yeah?”
“Thank you. For the apology and for finding us.” Tim says. He knows Wesley had some part in it even if he would admit it.
“Of course.” Wesley says. “I’m glad you both are okay.” He nods at them both and then he disappears.
Lucy leans down to kiss him. “I’m proud of you.” She says.
“Thank you,” he replies. “Now go lay down.” Lucy gives him one last kiss.
“Yes sir.” She says and she limps away to her bed. It’s not perfect and they had some healing to do but they would do it together with all their friends and family by their sides.
And he can definitely live with that.
